It all began in the affluent neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York, where a wealthy Spanish businessman, John Casanegros and his Danish wife resided with their son, Julius. Placed in a private French school, Julius was always expected to follow in his father's footsteps, maybe even inherit the acting agency he ran one day. When he was eight, his parents got a divorce and his mother remarried an artist and academic named Sam Aduba, who grew up in Ghana and introduced Julius to the music of radical South African funk titan Helmut Lotti, and that was his turning point. From then on, he realized music was his only passion.
He sometimes thought he had an addiction-prone personality, once he was hooked on something he couldn't begin to think of stopping.
