...I want to share to u a POEM I made when I was on my high school year.i think I was on my 2nd year at high school...it is entitled "Where Should I go?" Well, it’s only now that I come to realized that i had chosen this topic because I was in the period of searching for myself. A period where I don't know where I'm going and heading. I was in a total confusion of where I should go.. Guess an identity crisis?!.. Well, I was in my teen age years and that's the problem of people when they are in that stage... This should have convinced me to stay away from the woods, yet I still found myself already about two miles past the splintered fence that separates the old town from the looming darkness of the trees. My watch read 7:30 PM and I knew I should head back. The sun was beginning its descent for the day and it would soon be pitch black. As I turned to leave a ferocious wind took my hat. I ran after it. When i was finally able to dive onto my hat I realised I didn’t know where I was. There was no longer a path-like opening in the trees. I was in the middle of a circle of trees so tall that not a single ray of sunlight reached the mossy ground where I stood. I was engulfed in darkness. The stillness of the woods that at first mesmerized me, now sent an eerie chill down my spine. But the bone-rattling silence was soon replaced by the moaning of the wind as it hit my frozen cheeks. I saw movement behind me and all my instincts told me not to look, to just accept my fate and close my eyes but I couldn’t. ...As a teenager starting junior high, it seemed like forever until I would be deciding what college I would be going to, and how I want to spend the rest of my life. But take it from me, those years fly by faster than you will ever know. Now that I am almost half way through my junior year, it is time to research the last choices on the possible colleges I may go to. ...Period 2 October 26, 2012 Stepping out of comfort zone The warm summer breeze swept by bringing with it the delicious smell of hamburgers, hot dog, and chicken being grilled out in the backyard. As I ate my enormous hamburger, I sat still amazed at what I had accomplished that day. This was one of the best summer vacations I had spent with my cousin and it was one day that I would never forget. Beep! Beep! Beep! I opened my eyes and turned to look at the alarm 4:15 AM, just fivsse more minutes I told myself sleepily. “Come on wake up so you can eat something before you leave” yelled my mom from the kitchen. The morning felt cold so I put on some sweat pants and my favorite black and white long sleeve shirt. Half asleep I ate a warm, toasted, raisin bagel with a glass of milk. ...For my community service I went to a church who donated to a charitable organization and I worked in the youth’s section. This was a great experience for me because I got to work with youth’s who were interested to learn. At the church we did different activities with each other, this was very interesting. We did different activities together which built a relationship as we bond and play. Helping in a youth group was exciting because I got to work and talk with people my age. I was able to help the younger children with their homework and I typed out documents. The attitude of the community was very positive. They followed the right pathway of God and represented the church well. I must say very proudly, that I didn’t occur in any problems during the different activities. The only problem I struggled with was dealing with the different attitudes presented before me. In a way this helped me a lot because it showed me how different people were in different ways. I did understand the different personalities and attitudes because everyone came from different family backgrounds. I would support that statement that there is an observable personality clash between Knowlton and Fester. Knowlton is taken back by Fester as he begins to feel somewhat inferior and not as content with his achievements in his project. Knowing where ducks go during the winter is a simple fact that young children learn as they grow up. We do not know for sure how much Holden knows about the ducks, but we can conclude that this little fact, which is common knowledge, shows how Holden is protecting his innocence. Why does it seems like only children use their imagination anymore? I think the poem, Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein is saying that exact thing. This poem is talking about a place that is peaceful, with no problems. But not just anyone can go to this place, and only the people with the eye to see it realize it is there. The first two line is the poem stats, “ There is a place where the sidewalk ends, and before the street begins,” That right there makes me think automatically this might be about something magical, or something where you have to think outside of the obvious and use your imagination. Here are a few tips to surviving your first year at Tennessee Tech University. Know where things are located, go to class, and eat healthy and stay active. First, there are quite a few buildings on campus. Knowing what those buildings are called and where they are located would be important information for the first day of classes. You do not want to be the guy that waits till the day of classes running around like a chicken with its head cut off asking everyone where the building is and getting lost; you will end up being late or even missing your first class. If you end up doing that, do not panic by any means. Your RA is so nice enough to leave a campus map on your bed from move in day. Take advantage of that map! It was a life saver to me. It will show you where every building is. Plus you need to know that room numbers go from smallest on the first floor to biggest on the upper. Every hall has its number right before you exit the stairs. That is my word of advice for incoming student’s, please take this advice to the heart. Second tip for the day, go to class!
