One policy he came up with to try to bring this about was trickle-down economics where supporters of this theory believe providing economic benefits to the wealthy will in the long run have a positive impact on society altogether. Another policy would be to impose taxation upon imports as well as manufactured goods to raise revenue to pay off the country’s eighty million dollar debt. Lastly, an additional policy would be to create a national bank along with a national currency.

Since Alexander Hamilton favored a loose interpretation of the Constitution, which meant he believed whatever the supreme law of the land did not prohibit it allowed, he supported the establishment of the National Bank as a way to improve the country’s economy. On the other hand, Thomas Jefferson, a proponent of a strict interpretation of the Constitution, did not like the idea of forming a National Bank since he felt whatever this legal document did not allow it prohibited.
