Week 2 Individual Paper

I decided to get my MBA for several reason. I wanted to set an example for my kids, for my own personal goals, and I want to be a dean to a college one day. I plan on getting my PHD in education. I am determined to reach my goals. “Etymologically the word education contains educare (Latin) "bring up", which is related to educere "bring out", "bring forth what is within", "bring out potential" and ducere, "to lead". (Etymonline.com). Getting my MBA will only bring out my full potential. I will be more knowledgeable, and knowledge is power. I am a single mother of three. “Education in the largest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another” (Wikipedia.com). I want my kids to see me working, getting my degree, and taking care of them. As I quoted “…transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, and values from generation to another” (Wikipedia.com). What I do will transmit to them. I want them to know that it can be done. There is nothing they can not achieve if they really want it. When my kids reach the college level, there will no excuse big enough for them not to complete college. I am leading by example. I was attacked in my home in 2008. My kids and myself were sleeping when a man came in an attacked me. He beat me so badly that I spent weeks in the hospital and I am still having surgeries. He did all this in front of my kids. It was the worst thing we have ever went through. At the time this happened I was in college getting my MBA, I had to drop out. I had no choice but to come back and get my MBA. For my own goals, I had to. I will not let this one event break me. I will not let this define my entire life or my children’s life. I will continue my life as planned. Finally, I want to become a dean to a college. I think education is the best thing anyone can do for themselves, and their children. My second year in my AS degree I went to lunch with the dean of Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College, K. Ray Bailey, he was amazing. Went spent more and more time together and as I seen what he did at AB Tech, I just knew it was for me. Also, in my Jungian Personality I was ESFP. It stated I am sociable, fun-loving, spontaneous, and very generous. A person would almost have to have these qualities to be a dean. I would be dealing with so many different entities of the college and so many different people, and people with many different personalities. I know that this is not going to be easy. There are going to be days that I hate that I am getting my MBA, but in the end it will have been all worth it.

Why I Decided to Get an Mba Degree

...Brian Fansler MBA: Why I decided to get an MBA degree Receiving my Undergraduate degree was one of my most proud moments in my life, I felt a since of accomplishment, responsibility, and acceptance. I just knew I was going to now be able to provide better for my family. That is why everyone around me said goes to college. Finish and graduate. A college degree can only help you and not hurt you. Well that statement can be a bit misleading, while yes a college degree won’t hurt you, it didn’t help me much either. I got into a situation that I had the degree but lacked the experience. Why didn’t anybody tell me to work as well? Get an internship? A mentor? I guess everyone had the misconception that college degrees grantee a good paying job; however, sometimes it’s not the case. I have come to say continuing education, even well beyond an undergrad, will not only help your career situation, but set a standard for your family and or kids, to always continue learning. Objection: An MBA will not guarantee a good job. It won’t guarantee a job, but what does? Having an MBA has put me more marketable with employers. Bryan Cohen argues that “First-year accountants with an associate degree made an average of $33,300 per year, while those with an MBA earned $39,800 per year as of April 2011 (Cohen, 2001). MBA open a world of big possibilities in a career field., The reason I decided, why not get my degree, is because I know it will pay off in the long run, when I want to pursue positions...

Beyond this school, this prison, this hood, whatever your conditions are. Do your conditions lead inevitably to suffering? No, they don’t. Only a being’s perspective leads to suffering. Two people in the exact same situation, according to their outlook and expectations, can have completely different experiences. Turn that around, and any conditions can be a vehicle for bondage—or freedom and awakening. And that’s fucking deep, man.” Going back to his story about the homeless man, Ferraro says, “I didn’t know what compassion meant when I was fifteen. Negotiation Challenges and Objective Paper

Moreover, I live very close to the hospital, just one street away from it, so it would be ideal for me to continue my career at this hospital. Things were all good until last month, which was the last month before my contract ended, I still had not been asked to negotiate the contract renewal and I started to feel unsettled. So I started to get my resume out to the market and got myself a job offer from another hospital, with a 50% increase in salary, though a lot far away from the hospital I was in. After getting this offer, I heard from my colleague who was in the management team of the pharmacy department that my boss was going to offer me a contract with 20% increase in salary. In no surprise, my boss invited me to have a meeting with him to talk about my contract renewal that day. Since I was at the stage of considering marriage with my girlfriend who had been with me for 6 years, I needed the money to buy a flat for us so my goal was to get a 50% increase in salary at the hospital I was working in. Why Wgu

...Why? Prepared by Eric Norwood They say that sometimes good things come to those that wait and great things come to those that work. I once heard this myth that I find fascinating; as we get older we get wiser. No matter what the age, I think that getting and education is a wise decision. For many reasons, including an unstable economy, people over 40 are returning back to college campuses. Being a Senior Admissions Advisor at a Career College, I have had the privilege of witnessing this on a daily basis. As a 40 year old myself, I too have decided to return to college. That’s right I am going back to school. It is never too late to finish what you started. Why I chose to go back to school? I would be shocked if my reasons were not the same as most people. I could probably think of many reasons why I decided to go back to school. In this essay, I will share a few reasons. One personal reason is to finish what I started. In June 1996, I graduated with a B.S. in Sociology at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  In September 1996, I entered into graduate school for M.A. in Sociology, specializing in Industrial Relation.  I completed two years of studies, including an internship at United States Postal Service (USPS).  Following that, I got hired for the USPS, and quickly promoted through the ranks to the Office of Inspector General.  I spent the next 12 years working as an Internal Auditor for the government.  Life got in front of me, had an auditing career...
