Why I Hate Homework Research Paper

Freshman and sophomore year of my high school career I experienced a bit of difficulty doing my homework and asking for help from the teachers when needed. At the time I was a very shy and antisocial person, so being put into a new environment, new school district, with new people was very stressful for me as a kid. Since no one knew me, I thought I would look stupid if I asked for help, that the other kids would look down on me, and that I'd draw too much attention to myself which kept me from getting help. So as a result, I didn't understand how to do the homework and wouldn't do it. This lead me to hate homework, I used to think what a waste of time it used to be, and how irrelevant it was if i just studied. Then late sophomore year I realized

...The beginning for this quarter the way my attitude was toward this class was why do I even need to take this course? I felt that I already know how to write in an appropriate manner especially since I do it on a daily at work but when it comes to a proper essay or the etiquette and structure I had no clue whatsoever. I honestly did hate the fact that out of every course I have so far taken this course had the most homework and now I understand why since there is so much to learn about the guidelines within a perfectly appropriate paper. Throughout the course I have found out there are many types of essays that are typed for appropriate matters or when it comes to certain points that need to stand out. There is the expository paper which is when you need to explain a theme or an idea to your intended audience and this style has a well-defined thesis. A persuasive essay is when you try to convince the audience or reader on a position you have about a certain topic or point of view. You are trying to persuade the readers and let them know you are correct. Analytical essay is when you analyze and examine a type of product which can consist of a book, poem or even a play or major even that happened. This essay basically explains the topic you want the audience to understand and you state the facts about the topic and inform them about everything you know with proof. Argumentative essays are a type of essay with your own personal opinion, theory and hypothesis about an issue that is...

Passion over Pay

...Title: This I Believe: Passion over Pay in the Career Field Introduction: Attention Getter: I believe in choosing a job based on my true passion. “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” The above quote is credited to Confucius, the well-known Chinese legend. I believe many of you would have come across the above quote at one time or the other. Many career coaches often cite this quote at will during career counseling to drive home the view that a person’s career decisions should be based on passion and not pay. Like what he said, I believed that if we were passionate enough about doing what we love, the money would come rolling in. Thesis: Choosing a job based on your passion is important because true passion is more valuable than money and no obstacle will stop you from achieving success. Preview/Transition: For example, I believe Main Point/Example #1: Which is better, love or money? Love is the key to happiness. People say having money is what life is about. I don’t believe that. The true happiness is going after what you love. When I was in high school, I always hoped I could get an honored job such as a talented doctor, a famous lawyer or a skillful engineer, so I could make a lot of money and got rich. However, I grew up and became more mature. Now I believe that true passion is more valuable than money. It doesn’t matter what kind of job I will have soon and how much my income is, as long as it should be something I enjoy, then...

Digital Media

...Digital Media and Technology Professor November 28, 2013 Education in Digitalization Our group decided to do our paper on the topic of Education in the Digital age which was our first project of the year. Education has changed so much over the years and it has done that very fast. From having textbooks and covering them to now classes having I pad’s in them and almost diminishing textbooks from school. As technology advances everyday, we can only imagine how our education will be in schools in even just 5 years. Research, studying, student testing, disabled education, hybrid classes and the changing roles of teachers in today's digital age are some of the main topics I will be talking about. Textbooks are not only very important for a students education but also puts a hole in their wallet. On average a student spends roughly $1,200 a year on textbooks whether you are renting them or buying them. That is a staggering number for a book that sometimes doesn't even help you too much in class. A single sheet of paper to make costs just 5 cents, but that adds up with how many pages are in a book overall. Some of the jobs that textbooks make were more than I expected. You can have jobs such as authors, illustrators, publishers, editors, lumbar people, paper mill workers and shippers. The authors are the people who write the text in the book, the illustrators can print in the pictures into the book, the editors look for any misspelling or misprint that the author...

Level of Motivation and Study Habits

...Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING Background of the Study In the society nowadays the demands of high level of education and skill for the success of each student is increasingly important for the students’ welfare as well as the society’s hope for success. Yet, it is crucial that teachers should recognize certain basic elements in learning to help students to gear up for greater advancement. One of these basic elements is study habits. In the global setting, Igun (2007) of the Nigerian Universities and Delta State University library stated that the study habits of students in some universities is a common problem because of some factors such us barriers in creating a study environment. In the national setting, Philippines ranked second and third to the last in the English and Math National Achievement Test result (National Framework Plan for ICT’s Basic Education, 2005). The cause of this drastic decrease in the performance of the students was supported by a study conducted by Acido (2010) who identified students in public high school in Manila who performed low due to poor study habits. In the local setting specifically in Davao City, Nacito (2006) and Azarcon, et.al. (2004) found that Grade Six students enrolled in Piedad District of Toril S.Y. 2005-2006 as well as the Freshmen students of Erico T. Nograles National High School both need to improve their study habits due to their low academic performance. In addition, college students of the University of Mindanao...

...systemic. Infectious and contagious diseases have to do with germs so we can rule those out as classifications. Traumatic indicates an outside force such as head trauma or nervous system trauma so that is also ruled out. Systemic diseases happen when the cells or chemicals of the body begin to malfunction such as cancer. This is not correct for ADHD either and so it is not a disease (Stein 23-24). Doctors turn to other causes and classifications of this disorder including genetics. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) often appears to run in families, and research studies have suggested that there may be a genetic component to this disorder. Individuals diagnosed with ADHD may have close blood relatives with the disorder (Muenke). Unfortunately, he mentions nothing about a chromosome link because there is no chemical proof of genetics. His statement is the same as if I were to say that my close blood relatives liked the same type of...

How to Improve Teaching Quality

...Quality Management Journal, 6(2), 9-21 (1999). HOW TO IMPROVE TEACHING QUALITY Richard M. Felder Department of Chemical Engineering North Carolina State University Rebecca Brent College of Engineering North Carolina State University An announcement goes out to the faculty that from now on the university will operate as a total quality management campus. All academic, business, and service functions will be assessed regularly, and quality teams will plan ways to improve them. A campus quality director and a steering team are named, with the director reporting to the Provost. All university departments appoint quality coordinators, who attend a one-day workshop on quality management principles and return to their departments to facilitate faculty and/or staff meetings at which quality improvement is discussed. Many faculty members are irate. They argue that TQM was developed by and for industry to improve profits, industry and the university are totally different, and talking of students as "customers" is offensive and makes no sense. They make it clear that they will have nothing to do with this scheme and will view any attempt to compel them to participate as a violation of their academic freedom. What happens then is…practically nothing. Some changes are made in business and service departments, some curricula are revised, and a few instructors make changes in what they do in their classrooms but most go on teaching the way they have always taught. After two or three...

In this current world, mobile phones are really essential for everyone’s life. But, it doesn’t mean that you can’t live a life without mobile phone. When we talk about school students, having a mobile phone is 50-50 chances of advantage and disadvantage. It’s all up to the student who uses the mobile phone. (Worthofread, 2015) As cell phones become increasingly prevalent among both adults and youth, many schools face an important question of policy -- whether or not to ban the phones on school grounds. Arguments both for and against allowing cell phones at schools tend to boil down to appropriate use and the effects of the phone's presence. Educators looking to make a decision for or against phones in the classroom generally need to look at both the positives and the negatives about allowing such devices. (Contributing Writers,...
