My ambition in life is to impact the lives of children, especially those with disabilities. Once I graduate from college, I would like to begin teaching at an elementary school, this would give me a chance to develop effective teaching methods, and gain experience in working with groups of young children. While I am teaching elementary, I will continue working towards my masters degree in special education. After I receive my masters degree, I would like to teach special education in public schools until I get funding and approval to open up my own primary school for special needs kids (ages 5-12). I grew up around children with disabilities; neighbors, friend’s of the family, and classmates. I believe that I can provide a better learning environment

...college I knew exactly what my major would be, Special Education. My mom was a teacher and my boyfriend’s mom at the time was a teacher as well. I just knew moving in that direction I would have a support system. So I started my journey at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. Wittenberg had captured my heart and I was ready to learn. After completing my first year at Wittenberg I decided to move back home to be closer to my family but also was having complications with depression. That time was really hard for me because I felt as if I was giving up on my dreams. But I took a vow to myself that I would not slack when it came to going to school in Saint Louis, Missouri. I enrolled into general education courses at a community college. While being at home I had time to think about where I would like to go that was closer to home that would give me the same five star education that Wittenberg University offered their students. So I sat out on a hunt to find the most amazing school. When looking up schools I started in Missouri because I knew that I wanted to at least be close to home. Missouri State was one of the first schools that popped up when scrolling through Missouri Schools. That week I came to campus to visit a few friends who had come here right after high school. After that week with my friends I as sold that Missouri State was the place for me. As I started classes at MSU I was still pursuing a major in Special Education. I was still sold out that Special Education...

Fbi Agent Career Paper

...I have always had a dream to work with the Federals Bureau, the FBI. Since I watched an episode of Fetch with Ruff Ruffman, I always have been drawn to figure out a crime scene. This episode consisted of forensic scientists and agents testing ink to determine who wrote a note. Ever since I saw those scientists doing their jobs, I have had a passion to do so myself. In the career of an FBI special agent, depending on the day, depends what work I will have to do. I would think if I had a crime scene file, I will figure out pieces to connect the puzzle of the crime. If it is a day where I don’t have a case, I would probably figure out someway I can investigate a scene. This job definitely requires many responsibilities. An example of these responsibilities...

...this paper I will discuss my three ambition’s and dreams which include graduating with a masters to become a teacher, getting married to start a family of my own, and 2016 being my year with opulence of fortitude. First of all, my ambition is to graduate with my masters and become a teacher for the elementary school. My mother who has been and still is a 2nd grade elementary teacher for the past 25 years. My aunts and uncles also take a part in teaching the elementary level and so I think becoming an elementary teacher will be the best experience yet. Only because I have a lot of support from experienced teachers. Aiming for a master’s degree for teaching is my best bet is the advice my mother gives me. I’ll tell you why. I have placed a chart of the differences between the salaries for a bachelor’s degree compared to one with a master’s degree. Teacher Salaries: Bachelor's vs. Master's Degree. Master/Bachelor of Education salary comparison. National Center for Education Statistics 2012. Furthermore, on top of higher earnings, teachers who have their masters can more easily transition into senior and administrative positions in education. An educator who aspires, for example, to a position as a principal or school counselor might pursue a masters in. So with a masters I can have many options in education careers and invest my time wisely. Source: Indiana Department of Education STEPHEN J. ...in college, I have had numerous experiences with education. Although some of my educational experiences have been negative most of them to date have been positive and very beneficial to me as a student. Many of my educational experiences have been from various sources. Such as, educational videos, the news, lectures, and many other sources. An educational experience I have encountered is watching Bill Nye the Science Guy videos in my 7th grade earth science class. My class would watch a video on what topic we were discussing that week in class. These videos are very easy to understand and informational. Watching the videos would give me a better understanding about the material we were going over. Over the years I have learned that I learn and remember things better by seeing them on an educational video rather that just listening to the teacher lecture. Watching videos in 7th grade was an immense benefit to my learning. In my college experience I haven’t watched any educational videos to help my learning and understanding of the material. The classes I have been enrolled in, the professors lecture the material and my fellow students and I take notes on the lecture. In America today, many children sit in front of the television and watch it for hours at a time. Thus, watching the videos at school would keep them more interested in the material because it is what they are accustomed to doing. Watching the educational videos could suggest for education in America...

Expectations and Education

...sought-after goals in the world of marketing is a high degree of consumer satisfaction. But in the world of education, satisfaction by itself should not be the criterion for success. If both satisfaction and performance are high, we have cause for celebration. If satisfaction is high and performance is low, as is currently the case in the United States, we have cause for serious alarm. According to Stevenson and Stigler in "The Learning Gap", American parents whose children generally score below Asian children on tests of academic achievement, gave the most positive evaluations when asked about their children's schools and how their children were performing. If the children are doing well, such high levels of satisfaction would be justified. Experiential learning theory draws on the work of many 20th century scholars who have given experience a central role in their theories of human learning and development- notably John Dewey, Kurt Lewin, Jean Piaget, Williams James, Carl Jung, Paulo Freire, Carl Rogers and other- to develop a holistic model of the experiential learning process and a multi- linear model ( Kolb 1984). Maintaining high levels of satisfaction with poor performance creates a huge obstacle to the improvement of education. Before you can solve a problem, you have to admit that you have a problem. Why should children study hard if their parents already express high levels of satisfaction? Why should schools pursue reform with enthusiasm and resolve when they already...

This report mostly looks at the sector from a UK-wide perspective, unless dealing specifically with regional differences. However, since the large majority of the students in higher education are registered in English universities, this only gives us a clear picture of what is happening in England and does not necessarily reflect the situation in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, or indeed any one of the nine English regions. Potential Careers in Sports Management

...This is my very first course in sports management and I have learned that there are many paths I could take once I graduate. Right now it is too early to feel passionate about any one career path. I will discuss various careers in sports management and I how feel about them now as I am just starting out. I hope to look back at this paper when I am finished and see if my views and opinions have changed. The Number of students who decide to get a MBA in sports management has grown significantly since the recession. A Ba in sports management was not producing jobs that many hopeful students thought it would. The sports industry was not immune to the recession like many people thought. Some people thought that the sports business would never feel the effects of the recession but they were wrong. Both the NBA and the NFL cut jobs during the recession and this caused a ripple effect with new graduates. They were forced to take low paying jobs working in the industry but as ticket sellers or working in the concessions. Still others who felt there was no other option took unpaid internships in the hope of landing a job afterward (Belson, 2009). Sports management degrees date back to the 1970’s with a rocky start. The degree was not seen as legitimate, “many academics mocked them for teaching how to mix Gatorade” (Wecker, 2011). The program has come a long way and has advanced into a masters level and even a PHD. Even with a masters in sports management becoming a popular presence many...

Convocation

...receiving or conferring an academic degree or the ceremony that is sometimes associated, where students become graduates. The graduation ceremony is a cultural tradition that is considered a rite of passage. The ceremony marks a transition from one stage in a student's life to another. Before the graduation, candidates are referred to as grandaunts. The date of graduation is often called graduation day. The graduation itself is also called commencement, convocation or invocation. In case of study and education graduation is the meaning of getting a higher degree of three years after 10+2 from a university or college, but that degree must come under the degree of graduation. Quite apart from that though, the graduation ceremony fulfills an essential human function as a ritual of transition, in this case marking the move from student to worker. The whole idea of graduation is believed to have started in the 12th Century, introduced by scholastic monks who wore robes during the entire graduation ceremony. It has kept on evolving ever since. Gill, L. (2012, January 15). Convocation and its importance. Graduation. Retrieved August 7, 2012. Scholars, especially anthropologists, consider graduation to be a rite of passage. A rite of passage is a ritual that marks a change from one stage of life to the next in a person’s life. The pomp and ceremony of the graduation ceremony can lend itself to accusations of irrelevance and elitism. Such criticisms I think miss the point. The occasion...

...------------------------------------------------- Why Teach? Why do teachers teach? It is a rather simple question, however the question, what is a teacher, must be addressed first. Merriam-Webster’s definition of a teacher is “one whose occupation is to instruct" (Merriam-Webster, 2008, para. 1). That is a rather one dimensional definition of a teacher, as teachers these days, offer so much more to the class than just the information. They offer themselves. A collective definition of a teacher, is someone who “yearns to help children learn, watch them grow, and make a meaningful difference in the world” (Teacher Support Network, 2007, para. 2). This definition must be the main reason as to why individuals pursue teaching as a career. Generally the pay is low to fair, but the overall rewards are much greater, for as a teacher one can touch the hearts of the young and open their minds in order to tap their thirst for knowledge. ------------------------------------------------- [edit]The Long Road Becoming a teacher is a lengthy process obtained by numerous routes, such as night school or attending a four year college. Regardless of the process it is important to obtain at least a Bachelors degree in the desired teaching area, as well as a teacher certification which should include clinical experience (Lewis, L., Parsad, B., Carey, N., Bartfai, N., Farris, E. & Smerdon, B., 1999, para. 3). The average starting salaries were about $31,704 in the year 2003-04, whereas the...

...Sociology is the study of society. It is a social science (a term with which it is sometimes synonymous) which uses various methods of empirical investigation[1] and critical analysis[2] to develop a body of knowledge about human social activity. For many sociologists the goal is to conduct research which may be applied directly to social policy and welfare, while others focus primarily on refining the theoretical understanding of social processes. Subject matter ranges from the micro level of individual agency and interaction to the macro level of systems and the social structure.[3] The traditional focuses of sociology have included social stratification, social class, culture, social mobility, religion, secularisation, law, and deviance. As all spheres of human activity are affected by the interplay between social structure and individual agency, sociology has gradually expanded its focus to further subjects, such as health, medical, military and penal institutions, the Internet, and the role of social activity in the development of scientific knowledge. The range of social scientific methods has also expanded. Social researchers draw upon a variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques. The linguistic and cultural turns of the mid-twentieth century led to increasingly interpretative, hermeneutic, and philosophic approaches to the analysis of society. Conversely, recent decades have seen the rise of new analytically, mathematically and computationally rigorous techniques...
