Do you have something that means so much to you but to others it's just a toy or picture or even a book. No one will ever understand why, even after you explain. Keep that object at the value it is to you. Show it off and be proud of it if it makes you feel happy. If that object is alive in your heart that's all that matters.
My object once had a life but to me it still does. My mom passed away before i was 2 so i have no memory of her except this black and white photo portiert of her. But this picture means as much to me as your blanket you treasure. Another object i treasure a lot is this white teddy bear my dad gave to me before he went on this trip. My third object would be my phone. It holds more value than anything else because 80% of my time consists on it. …show more content…
Even though i didn't know her, i knew her whole life. Everyone at all times talks about how she was an amazing lady and that i looked identical to her. I dont really see it but through that picture it says a lot. Her large white smile shows how she at all times was happy like everyone has told me and her eyes shine as bright as her personality. Even though at times i miss her she's at all times is with me. She's my screensaver and wallpaper to basically everything including my heart and there is no one i love more than her and my father.
Yeah growing up without a mom was hard but having a great man like my dad made it so much easier. Since i was born till this day i at all times will be a daddy's girl and i always went everywhere with him but due to school i couldn't go with him on this trip. i remember how sad i was seeing him walk to catch his flight but having that teddy bear right by my side made everything better. Till this day at times i catch myself cuddling it because it brings back the great memories we have

Object Of The Catcher In The Rye

...Wonder Why are we so attached to our personal belongings? What makes one object so special to us? We all have at least one object that is significant to us. How we obtained it or who we received it from is part of what makes it significant. Irreplaceable and unique. These are a couple of traits that this specific object shares. There are countless reasons as to why this one object is important to us. This object could be a token of good luck, this object could reminisce us of good times, this object could be something that’s been passed down to us generation by generation, or this object could just bring us happiness. The list is never-ending. The adoration for one specific object is also seen in J.D. Salinger’s novel, The Catcher in the Rye. The protagonist, Holden Caulfield, like the rest of us...

...between the objects we value and our identity? The object that I value deeply and identifies me at the same time is my wedding ring. The reason why I have chosen this particular item is because it symbolizes an emotional connection that I share with my husband and the union between two families. The ring says a lot about my personality and nature as well, for instance it reminds me that before the ring was given to me I viewed myself as an individual possessing my own needs and goals but now that the ring is in my life I have someone else to share the goals with. It also moved me forward and gave me a stable and secure environment for me to start a family of my own. Having this ring, it has taught me that it signifies unity, friendship, a support system, made me learn self sacrifice and compromise, and to have great listening skills. When my husband and I have disagreements, sometimes all I need to do is look at the ring on my finger which serves as a reminder as to why we are in this committed relationship and we can solve our issues. I would be very sad to lose this connection that I have with this object because I feel this ring is an important symbol in teaching my kids the value of a relationship, although some may see this metal object as a materialistic object I see it as a teaching tool for my kids to really show the commitment that parents share by being bonded together by taking the vows that comes with the ring. This is why I have chosen my wedding ring...

Physics In Basketball

...Research Question How does the height of dropping a basketball affect the time it bounces? Aim I have played a lot of basketball in my life, however, never before thought about the physics behind the sport. When I was given the opportunity to plan and prepare my own investigation, I tried to seize the chance as much as possible by combining it with my hobby. I was curious if this experiment would give me new knowledge and improve my skills, or just confirm the information I have already gained during basketball practice. Background information That most balls bounces are something we learn from an early age, but why is that a universal phenomenon, why doesn’t the ball just stay on the ground when dropped? Physics, and especially the field...

Individual Counseling Techniques - Mindfulness Exercises Journal

...wandering thoughts intruded, but they were not too hard to push away. My place is quiet, so as long as the cat is (He yowls and chases the other cat at inconvenient times.)so it is easy to relax and be uninterrupted. This is also something I have done to try and minimize an asthma attack, though not with meditation as a goal! I guess there were a number of associations that I have which are ingrained, and that was something I had to deliberately redirect to keep the exercise simple. I did notice that when I have more on my mind, that it is harder to make myself be physically still, and my mind is similarly resistant to slowing down. Week of Feb. 1 – progressive relaxation I didn’t really like the speaker, because he sounded fake, like someone narrating a children’s bedtime story. That was one distraction. It required a deliberate effort at non-judgmental observation to get past this, which I suspect the average listener isn’t trained to do. The relaxation was hard to do because I normally feel some degree of physical discomfort throughout the day, and the tensing-relaxing directions were uncomfortable, and sometimes too fast to keep up with. This exercise is apparently designed for healthy, young participants! I will remember this if I ever ask elderly, hospital, or otherwise handicapped patients to try this technique – in fact, it would be better to re-record these steps my own way. Going at my own pace, I noticed that although I was more physically relaxed, I...

...Response Paper #2 I was really amazed by the amount of vessels that I read from the book. My favorite vessel was the “ding vessel”. This was my favorite vessel because it reminded me of a stone mortar called “mortero de piedra” in Spanish. We use this stone mortar to make a spicy salsa, so when ever I look at the ding vessel it reminds me of my own culture. It has the same structure with the four legs to support the “bowl” on the top. The ding vessel was used for cooking as well as in my culture with the stone mortar. They were also used for storage and rituals offerings to their ancestors. When this vessel was used during rituals it was a symbol of authority. If someone owed more than one of this kind of vessel they were associated with power and domination over land. The decoration has a lot of significance in this kind of vessel. For example in the most common ding vessel, the final type of decoration was the inscription. These inscriptions were used to identify the function of the vessel, the owner or they could simply be poems or even stories of why the ding was created. Another thing that amazed me was the different styles of art comparing a Japan vessel with a Korean vessel. When we discussed about those two pieces of art in class I was so interested in knowing why the styles were so similar yet different at the same time. After the discussion we had I was comparing both objects and I noticed more differences than similarities and it all had to do with the time...

Jean Paul Sartre

...metaphysics focus on includes 1st order ethical issues and focuses on analytic ethics, contrasted with analytic philosophy. This is important because when we do existential metaphysics, we don’t treat metaphysical questions as purely theoretical ones. We’re actually interested in getting a proper understanding of what we, and the world we inhabit, are like. The 1st order ethical question asks what to do or be in a certain kind of situation- Sartre uses his answer to give a picture of Human Nature. The cosmic question states: “how can one bring into one’s individual life a recognition of one’s relation to the universe as a whole, whatever that relation is?” Sartre answers this by saying that the cosmic question has no answer, but his sense is that the absence of an answer, even if we aren’t aware of that, is something palpable in our lives and needs to be addressed and we need to cope with it. His idea of human nature is really an exploration of how we should deal with the fact that there is no answer to this cosmic question. For Sartre, to understand the structure of this world as a whole, one has to understand the place consciousness has in the world. He continues to emphasize that our consciousness is what makes us distinct, makes us human. Intentionality, self consciousness, self-determination, and their interconnectedness. Firstly, let me iterate that “intentionality” is being used in a sense NOT related to one of its meanings which means “deliberate”. I am not referring...

Stages of Development in Children

...Educational psychology is a very important field to study. It does not always tell you what to do as a teacher, but it can give you the principles to use in making a good decision and a language to discuss your experiences and thinking. This paper has knowledge of great thinkers who help me understand how to be an intentional teacher in the classroom. Piaget and Vygotsky's views of cognitive development help me understand how children think differently and see the world differently. I want to be able to take in and build off what the book gives me and relate certain criteria to the way I teach and learn about things through my experiences in the classroom. Teacher Efficacy Teacher efficacy is the belief you have in yourself as a teacher that what you do makes a difference (Henson, 2002; Tschannen-Moran & Woolfolk Hoy, 2001). The successful teachers are the ones that truly care about their students’ academic progress and monitor it daily. Being able to observe the classroom last semester really gave me an understanding of what teaching is really like. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to get a first year teacher that has a true passion for what she does. She was always creating new ideas for the classroom environment and new holiday themes like “spooktacular spiders” during Thanksgiving. Her classroom has a library that she keeps adding to where the students’ can choose a book to read from. It was one highlight that the teacher did that showed me she truly cares about her...

Symbolic Interactionism

...Social Space: Photo Essay (Word Count: 2905 approximately excluding bibliography) Before I ingress in to paper, I would like to share a story that would make more sense of my endeavour to write about coffee breaks. I work for Starbucks coffee company as a shift supervisor and the district coffee master of City of London which allows me to go around the city from store to store in order to enhance coffee education. Anywhere I go and take a walk around the cafe area I would always find cups laying around with almost all of the drink still in it. Why wouldn’t anyone even bother to take their drink with them that they bought for money? That was always a mystery to me. At the beginning of this module (Organisation and Identity) some very unexpected ideas came by which I could not really grasp during the initial couple of weeks which led me to think of quitting the module. However, I did not do so with a hope that I will probably understand whats going on and quitting did not seem like a very noble idea. As we entered the third week and studied ‘behaviourism’ I could slowly start relating the core ideas to practical life and it was the fourth week when we studied ‘symbolic interactionism’ and I could never be more thankful to myself for continuing as this very idea opened new sectors of the world to me and I felt...

This allowed the person viewing the animation to control when they moved forward to the next scene; it also depended on whether or not they choose the correct answer for the questions asked. If they didn’t select the correct answer for the question they were then sent to the wrong answer page and could then start the animation again. I found starting to use the scripting part of making a button difficult at first, but after looking...

...chapter in my life entitled, Organizational Behavior. This chapter in my life has thought me many things. First in the list, plagiarism. Plagiarism is a major crime. Sometimes, we commit this crime without our intention. Others think that copying others quote, idea, letter and work is just okay but if you will ask a Professional it is a crime. We must cite the author or writer of the things we want to copy. We should give respect and credits with the owner. The next lesson I’ve learned in class was about the subject itself, its history and why do we need to study organizational behavior. Just like other management subjects I found orgbev boring. I found it nonsense to study because I believe that I will not use it if I will become a CPA but I was wrong. As we go through the next chapters of the book I realized that it is very important to study it. McShane said that OB does make a difference to one’s career success. It helps people get things done in organizations. Applying this in my life, OB helped me a lot in my everyday life. It helps me to work well with other people. Having knowledge about OB makes me understand the behavior of the people around me. Before, I always ask myself why people act opposite from expected behavior and through OB I understood the behaviors and attitudes of each individuals that I meet. Jungian personality theory and the Myers-Briggs type indicator helped me to understand and to know more myself. It improved my self-awareness for understanding me and...

...greatest possible extent. Also, in this argument it claims that God cannot do what is logically impossible, but he can do anything that can be done. To conclude, it comes down from “God is omnipotent and can do literally anything,” to “God is omnipotent to the greatest possible extent.” Chapter 2 In this St. Aquinas’ cosmological argument for the existence of God, it is constructed in 5 proofs. First is the argument from motion which talks about, from his observations from Aristotle that concluded from common observation that an object that is in motion is put into motion by another object or force. From this, St. Thomas believes that there must have been an unmoved mover (God) who first put things in motion. He starts from a posteriori position. The second proof is the argument from causation of existence which deals with the issue of existence. St. Aquinas concluded that from observation, there is no object that creates itself, some previous being or object had to...
