Wide Awake by Katy Perry
Many artists use in their songs literary devices to give a certain mood or setting. In Katy Perry’s song Wide Awake, she verbalizes and portrays these devices to express her song in a personal and emotional way knowing that many people face these situations everyday in life. Katy Perry describes her Wide Awake song as a "dose of reality" and she admits that the song deals with much more negative emotions than many of her previous single releases. The song was written specifically as part of the soundtrack for Katy's concert movie: Part Of ME. In the song Wide Awake, Katy Perry uses repetition, imagery and allusion to explain how an event can cause a person to change perspective.
First, Katy Perry uses repetition to create the mood in her song Wide Awake. In the beginning, she repeats “I’m wide awake” three times meaning that she has come to realize the mistakes she had made by falling in love with the wrong person and she’s fully aware of these mistakes. She also uses repetition in the pre-chorus “I wish I knew then what I know now. Wouldn’t dive in, wouldn’t bow down. Gravity hurts, you made it so sweet. Till I woke up on, on the concrete.” Here she expresses regret and she wishes that she knew this was going to happen so she doesn’t fall for him and avoid this heartache. She also symbolizes how gravity pulls us down and hurt us when falling, with waking up on the cold concrete by realizing the cold harsh truth that he made it seem so peachy. Katy uses repetition in the main chorus of her song “Falling from cloud 9. Crashing from the high. I’m letting go tonight.” This is a figure of speech saying that she was deeply in love and having high hopes, while suddenly realizing the truth made her willingly fall out of love and open her eyes to those false high hopes. The reason of using reputation...

Tyrod Taylor Case Analysis

...this season, his offensive coordinator was Greg Roman. Roman was fired and Anthony Lynn, the Bills' running back coach took over. Will Lynn be Taylor's offensive coordinator next season? Or the better question is will Rex Ryan be back as head coach next season? A quarterback is only as good his head coach. If there is no stability at head coach or offensive coordinator, Taylor or any quarterback at that will have a rough time. Another reason why the Bills should stick with Taylor is because he does not have the best weapons. This season, his top wide receiving target, Sammy Watkins has been battling with a foot injury and has only played in five games. Outside of Watkins, none of the others Bills' wide receivers have taken their game to the next level. Robert Woods has 43 receptions for 522 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Marquise Goodwin only has 24 receptions for 364 receiving yards and a touchdown. Buffalo needs to make wide receiver a position of need in free agency or in the draft to give Taylor some help. The Bills' offensive line also needs to do a better job of protecting Taylor. According to Football Outsiders, Buffalo's offensive line is ranked 32nd in the league in pass protection, giving up 40 sacks with an adjusted sack rating of 10 percent. Finally, the last reason why the Bills should stick with Taylor is because he is the best option at quarterback going forward. Despite, the rookie success of Dak Prescott, complied with how good Carson Wentz has......

...one of the key marketing quandaries. In many cases, despite what the textbooks suggest, there is frequently no real decision as to "who" should constitute the channel; rather, the question is how best to deal with the incumbent channel. Marketing channel decisions are critical also because they intimately affect all other marketing and overall strategic decisions, Distribution channels generally involve relatively long-term commitments, but if managed effectively over time, they create a key external resource. Small wonder, then, that they exhibit powerful inertial tendencies, for once they are in place and working well, managers are reluctant to fix what is not broken. Here we contend that a new m e d i u m - - t h e Internet and the World Wide Web---will change distribution like no other environmental force since the industrial revolution. Continually this appears to be one of the main problems of World Wide Web which users need to face every day. Delays in loading a web page cause dissatisfaction and often loss of visits and in case of e-commerce websites it means also loss of income. Although many techniques have been applied to resolve this problem it is still coming back due to a high number of Internet users. Still, the problem is a also matter to human perception and how people classify slow or fast download times. Many theories and rules have been applied trying to measure a maximum time of a website response that users can tolerate. However there are some problems associated with evaluating the effects of download delays on a website in an experimental setting like not taking into consideration what personal interests are, usefulness of the websites, etc. The paper will investigate the significant impact of perception on loading times taking also into......

...Interactive Features in Web Design Mark Ferris WEB/240 Web Design Fundamentals September 23, 2013 Steven Staton Interactive Features in Web Design Proper functionality is just as critical as visual appeal when designing a website. A professional website must find a balance between needed features and the presentation of those features. There are dozens upon dozens of popular interactive applications with many of these easily implemented. Many web designers are offering these tools as standard features with websites. The key is picking the interactive features that will make the most sense for the company and the user. This paper will focus on the following: Contact Forms, Google Maps, and Comments. Requesting Additional Information Because it is impossible to put every bit of information about a company or product on a website, the customer needs the ability to reach out to the company to request additional information, schedule an appointment, have a representative contact him or her, et cetera. The easiest way to accomplish this is by the user completing a contact form. By tailoring the contents of the form designers can meet the needs of both the company and the customer. The website in this project is an American Civil War Reenactor’s site. The contact form will have drop down boxes to select the type of inquiry and a text box to type comments or questions. Users can request information on joining the unit, request a......

Google

...Google Google is a great innovative technology company that has changed on how we use the internet. Google is well known for being one of the best internet search engines to grace our world today. Along with that Google has been a part of the mobile technology world since the introduction of Android phones and has been the best friend for many for wanting to know something in a hurry. Naturally as the mobile demand grows Google will want to be a part of that market share. Google’s attempt to buy into the wireless spectrum was part of Google’s idea of bringing the internet to everyone everywhere. Google knew that the large key players such as AT&T and Verizon, although doing their best to provide internet access to rural areas Google could do it better because it has so much more money to invest in the research and development to succeed. The interview by Marguerite Reardon with Chris Saca, head of special initiatives for Google he explains why Google is so interested in the 700 MHz spectrum: Q: Why is Google so interested in the upcoming 700MHz auction? Sacca: The 700MHz spectrum auction represents the last big chance that the United States has to create an opportunity for meaningful change in access to the Internet for the broadest set of people possible. But why is Google, in particular, interested in this spectrum? Sacca: I think it's consistent with our company mission statement and consistent with our history of interaction with users. We have fought...

Artemis Images

...Case 3 – Artemis Images 1. Chris started her business because she realized a simple business model that would lead to revenue and success with the proper launch. She realized “digitizing documents using the latest technology, tagging them with easy-to-read labels, and linking them to search engines for easy retrieval and widespread use” will meet customers’ wants/needs while also preserving images and data and earning revenue. The strategy of the model it to provide digitizing services to companies in exchange for rights to market the content on the internet, receive merchandising rights, and also promotion of Artemis Images ULR with each partner. While Artemis Images provides a meaningful service of preserving the company’s valuable media and data, the get to sell the images to customers, and link the images to key words in search engines. The opportunity for Chris to start her own company was because she discovered that the photo archives were obtaining a ton of requests from fans and customers but they were unable to fill those requests to the full potential. Chris knew how to reach the potential. Chris also held the opportunity because she understood the value for an organization to have its inventory, pictures, and information digitalized and saved forever and she understood the cost of scanning and digitalizing this media. Artemis Images will be able to make profit off of the unrealized value of the images that is kept hidden by companies and consumers. Chris was......

The Shallow's Essay

...What the Heck has Internet Done to Our Brains? Section I: Introduction and Context Imagine going back in time and staying there permanently. Out of all the things that will be missed, there is no doubt that the one thing would be technology. The Shallows: What Internet is Doing to Our Brains is nonfiction book written by Nicholas Carr who asserts and cautions the effects that internet has on everyone to this day and even more so in the future. People nowadays can communicate with people all around the world using many different types of communications such as social networking sites, cell phones, emails, etc. Carr brings in many different scientific research as well as a couple of personal experiences to show the great change in technology and the internet. The author chose to write The Shallows from an epiphany he had realized, “It (his brain) was hungry. It was demanding to be fed by the net feed...I wanted to check email, click links, do some googling. I wanted to be connected” (Carr 16). The way that technology has changed and developed the internet has made Carr want to stress the fact that although technology is very useful, it can be very harmful to peoples’ brain in a way that it affects a person’s deeper level of thinking. Section II:The Author’s Background Nicholas Carr is a columnist, member of the Encyclopedia Britannica's editorial board of advisors, as well as an executive editor. Analyzing Internet Sources

...Analyzing Internet Sources What I learned was how to choose which web site were better to use for educational purposes. I learned some important facts about using the internet to find resources and to know if the web site is a credible source. When looking at the web site it is a good idea to look at when the site was last updated, if it is a .org or .edu they tend to be more reliable. When looking to see if the site was good to use for the global warming project there were some good sites to use and then there were also some bad ones. The good ones were that were most updated and the ones were they were not asking for money for you to buy the information from them. These are just some of the things I learned for these activities. The things I did not learn for these this activity was that if there was a sure way to tell if the web site was credible. I know some ways that will help me tell but how do I know if the last update is the correct date or by the authors name. What if the author is lying about their name and they just made up everything on the site. I think I have a pretty good understanding of when a site is okay to use but I just wish there was a full proof method to it in finding out. I do not want to accidently use a site that was false information where they public can put anything they want to on it for an academic...

...Website Optimization Paper Leah Chanthapanya November 4, 2013 EBUS/405 Professor Caleb Green In this paper, I will be making a few suggestions on how to improve the PPG Industries website to make it more convents for consumers, distributors, and collision shops. The topics that I want to suggest on improving the most are MSDS search engine, organization in the online ordering product, and advertising on the PPG Industries website. The numerous of complaints from the consumers are constantly calling for assistance to find certain materials or purchase items. However, as a Web support representative, I have to help and give advice to the consumer on how to maneuver through each web page, including e-mailing MSDS sheets, reset passwords, correcting purchasing orders, and directing consumers to the correct web page. Therefore, I have a few ideas on how to make the web page more suitable for those who are not tech savvy as the rest of the world. Improving the MSDS search engine The MSDS search engine or Material Safety Data Sheet is to assure on-the-job safety and minimize health risks, be sure to follow all applicable safety and health precautions for using PPG products (PPG Automotive Refinish , 2013). This search engine can find almost any product name or code, but it has to be only automotive paint. The main mistakes that customer has with this search engine are 1.
