If Shakespeare had lived about 100 years before or after the Elizabethan era, he may not have been as successful with his writing or not have even written his plays which would change the way we view some literature. If Shakespeare and his plays wouldn’t have been famous, our view of literature would be different, because we wouldn’t have many of the sayings and phrases we use today. The Renaissance was a time of intellectual activity marked by philosophy and the arts.

Despite the fact that his tragedies resemble the Aristotelian view of the tragic hero, his own personages are powerful enough to reach their own goals; in addition, one should take into consideration that despite some similarity in comparison with Aristotle, in view of many thinkers, “Shakespeare almost certainly never read Aristotle” (Dillon 10). ...Shakespeare's plays are largely divided into three parts. Tragedy, comedy and histories. So I'll only be a problem here. Shakespeare plays Should belong to one part? The answer is a tragedy. In some it may even be questioned. Why dealing with the past, Roman histories is not it? My answer to this is simple. This is because all classifications published after Shakespeare's 'First Folio (First Folio)' it is based on. (The First Folio was published the first time Shakespeare's complete works, it is based on a manuscript of Shakespeare 0.2 All plays are recorded was minus the work is a collection which is in fact today the basic work of all Shakespeare also one of today's most expensive book.) First classification of the portfolio is simple: Once happy with the hero comedy, tragedy ends with the death of the hero, and British history, precisely when the King of England plays on histories. ...A TEACHER’S GUIDE TO THE SIGNET CLASSIC EDITION OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S MACBETH LINDA NEAL UNDERWOOD S E R I E S E D I T O R S : W. GEIGER ELLIS, ED.D., ARTHEA J. S. REED, PH.D., UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, EMERITUS and UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA, RETIRED A Teacher’s Guide to the Signet Classic Edition of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth 2 INTRODUCTION William Shakespeare developed many stories into excellent dramatizations for the Elizabethan stage. Shakespeare knew how to entertain and involve an audience with fast-paced plots, creative imagery, and multi-faceted characters. Macbeth is an action-packed, psychological thriller that has not lost its impact in nearly four hundred years. The politically ambitious character of Macbeth is as timely today as he was to Shakespeare's audience. Mary McCarthy says in her essay about Macbeth, "It is a troubling thought that Macbeth, of all Shakespeare's characters, should seem the most 'modern,' the only one you could transpose into contemporary battle dress or a sport shirt and slacks." (Signet Classic Macbeth) Audiences today quickly become interested in the plot of a blindly ambitious general with a strong-willed wife who must try to cope with the guilt engendered by their murder of an innocent king in order to further their power. The elements of superstition, ghosts, and witchcraft, though more readily a part of everyday life for the Renaissance audience, remain intriguing to modern teenagers. The action-packed...

Writing of various forms of love, and indeed of love itself, using the contemporary sonnet form, Shakespeare develops the aspects of love which the sonnets reflect into an all-encompassing discussion on the major themes of life itself that continue to inform and direct the human condition, a fact which is perhaps partly responsible for their continuing popularity with both public and critics alike. This dissertation sets out to discover, through close reading of carefully selected representative sonnets and critical context, the way Shakespeare accomplishes this. The sonnet form as Shakespeare, whose 154 sonnets were first published in 1609, and his contemporaries used it was introduced into England in the sixteenth century by Sir Thomas Wyatt...
