Wireless Technology in the Workplace Wireless Technology in the Workplace
The first demonstration of a mobile phone was in 1973. Ten years later Motorola offered the first commercially available mobile phone. While it took ten years to bring the wireless phone to the marketplace, technology continues to advance with rapidity. With advancements in technology come “advancements in mobility, cloud and other areas” (Athow, 2014). With this evolution, employees are more mobile and constantly connected to their employer than ever before. Finding ways to convert the workplace into a wireless workplace offers benefits to both the employer and employee. Converting an office to a wireless office is a considerable investment, though there is a quick return on the investment.
Employers have the option to allow more employees to work remotely, making the need for huge offices with an assigned workspace for each employee archaic. Depending on hours of operation and schedules, employees have the ability to share workspace for the times they are in the office, or have unassigned work areas. Companies can leverage this option and seek opportunities to reduce real estate cost through consolidation and reduction in office space.
Employees have access to corporate software, data, and full functionality of a traditional office with the use of their tablets, laptops, and smartphones. Connected to a secure WiFi, employees now have the option to work remotely and create a more flexible schedule. For so long, an office worker was expected to adhere to the traditional concept of sitting in an office with co-workers for eight hours. This environment has its distractions and potentially leads to a decrease in productivity. Having the option to work remotely allows individuals to select the best environment for them, leading to an increase in productivity. Selecting the best work

Wireless Technology in the Workplace

...Wireless Technology in the Work Place XBIS 220 September 4, 2013 Smarts phones in today’s business environment enable managers to stay a step ahead of the clients and potential customers while offering life balance and enabling contact with family and other during the day. Smart phones do today what only wired computers along with a desktop telephone did for us in the past. When an employee left their desk, it was impossible to miss an important call or delay responding to a customer’s email. Both scenarios could potentially result in a competitor getting a sale for example. Today’s smart phones allow us to leave our workplaces and take a long with us full email and calendar capabilities, contacts, text and instant messaging, and essential data and files like proposal, business news or stock markets. Many internet services offer “Icloud” or “Google” storage that enable us to sync our smart phones with our desktop system so that files on both ends remain current. Smart phones offer Bluetooth, WI-Fi and internet access with full function browsers. Business are using wireless technologies such as smart phones for mobile banking, electronic payment, wireless bill payments and even access your TV schedule while you are far from home. Another tool for smart phone is the capability of multimedia that can store and display pictures and videos and even entire length movies streamed from apps. Another great feature is the MP3 player where we can enjoy music everywhere. Smart...

...Wireless Technologies and Networks Wireless Technologies and Networks in the work environment Learning about different forms of communication is always fun and also discussing things that will heighten technology is also great to talk about. When the team got together we had numerous discussions going about that ended up almost like a tree discussion where we obviously knew the base of the talk and then we climbed up the trunk and went into tangents like branches. All in all it was a great conversation and I think the team came out with a great understanding and also more knowledge of the topic. Wireless technology and networks in the work environment are a part of most people’s everyday lives. While I was speaking and contributing to the discussion I realized that my team had more knowledge of the subject then I did and maybe it was better for me to listen and not speak as much as I am an active learner when listening so I can comprehend the information being given. While I was speaking I wanted to stress to my team that privacy and using the wireless technology in the workplace has to be front and center of the discussion. Understanding also that utilizing the different forms of networks in the workplace also will help the speed of getting things done. My portion of the discussion was received well and the discussion on privacy and policy of using the network lasted about twenty minutes so knew that I had brought up a valid topic. Developing wireless communication...

...Wireless Technology Paper Shraina Sanders BIS/221 April 11, 2016 Jacquelyn Newsom Wireless Technology Paper Wireless technology in the workplace and home can make life so much easier. I recently read an article that gave me a different perspective. Wireless technology now enables companies the ability to reach their employees by way of text, email or voice. Most advanced smartphones can also be used as a personal computer. They are able to print, create spreadsheets, video conference and perform many other office functions. In my line of work we do not use smartphones for security reasons, however we do have use of IPads. This allows me to be mobile, do my work and go from one cubicle to another without having to always return to a stationary desktop and input data. The article, also made reference to how a mechanic is able to make repairs virtually and architects are now able to send their designs for proofreading or to make last minute changes. These are things that I had never even thought of, because I do not work in that type of environment. The possibilities are endless, when it comes to technology in the workplace. Consider the fact that wireless networking eliminates a great deal of time and effort. Before, if there was a problem within a network, it could take many man hours to find and repair, because of the time it took to manually test hundreds of wires to find one defect. Now we are able to simply configure the system to suit our needs. If there is a problem...

Mobile Devices

...Computing technology advances in the past decade have created a more easy and flexible work place. Mobile technology can mean greater productivity, but it also has inadequate security measures to mitigate the risks inherent in the use of mobile devices. There are many factors to consider when deciding if wireless networking or in specifically if wireless technology is a reliable and safe route for the healthcare systems. Given the type of wireless infrastructure and different construction techniques, there are many ways to develop safe, reliable and most importantly a secure wireless health care technology. First, the important thing to consider is the assurance and security that we may face in today's enterprise healthcare systems. For this particular case, there are multiple office spaces in the professional building. With that said there may be multiple wireless transmitters and due to a radio-frequency wireless application may be a source of interference for another application. Security for wireless medical devices and systems must be addressed and make sure that it is able to handle such risks that can be involved. Some things to keep in mind would be if this exchangeability is worth the risks with such diligent information. With these interferences, it's a matter of manageability for a safe and secure method of transferring patient data from one space to another. Secondly, threats differ by groups whether they may be a police force or a medical team and most security...

Wireless Networks

...Wireless Networks Wireless media is an essential part of everyday life now. Without it businesses would not be able to perform as efficient. Ever since wireless media came about, telecommunications turned the use of the Internet, electronics, and fiber optics. With the advancement of wireless media telecommunications businesses have the ability to send and receive messages to one another instantly eliminating the need of sending letters through the post office. One major challenge to developing a system of communications based on wireless media is the security. More than ever companies and individuals use this wireless technology to their advantage, for important documents or information they want kept to themselves, such as e-mail, mobile money transactions, and data transmissions. As these wireless technologies grow, and keep vital information, hackers begin to implement new ways to attack these new technologies. It is difficult to apply security into smaller devices with low power processors, minimal memory capacities and that use unreliable, low-bandwidth wireless networks. Smart phones that incorporate wireless technologies have changed the business world in numerous ways. With smart phones people can check and respond to important emails or calls when away from the office or workplace. Determining Databases and Data Communications

...Determining Databases and Data Communications Determining Databases and Data Communications Having a clear understanding of the technologies to implement is an incredible tool for managing companies with computer technology as their primary means of sustainability. This knowledge helps their personnel responsible for information management to make informed decisions about which technology to actually implement. These strategic decisions permit the manager to effectively utilize time and resources in seemingly intimidating tasks. This is shown in both scenarios. In the first scenario a marketing assistant working at a consumer electronics company is tasked with maintaining booths for trade shows from start to finish. In addition that individual is also tasked to resolve any issues related to product shipment that may arise. Knowing what information is to be retained is important in ensuring best tools are used in trade fairs.
