TYPES OF POWER ESSAY
MOTIVATION AND LEADERSHIP
1/20/13
BRIAN PHARRIS

I learned a lot in watching the types of power videos. I learned that it is five different powers you can display as an individual. Those powers are referent, reward, legitimate, coercive, and expert. These powers are all intriguing to me. Referent power means being trustworthy and going above and beyond the call of duty to do a job you’re ask to do. Reward power is offering something of value to get somebody to do something. Legitimate power is showing authority of power with a certain position or rank. Coercive power is being demanding, intimidating, and using some type of fear to get what you want. Lastly expert power is being comfortable to influence others because of expertise, knowledge, or skill. The type of power I find most effective is reward power. I think reward power is the most effective because usually when you offer somebody some type of reward or something of value it usually motivates them to do their job a lot more. The types of power I think I have as an individual are two types of power. The first power I exude as an individual is referent power. I consider myself to be a very trustworthy, hard working, and going above and beyond to do what ever it takes to get a job completed. The other type of power I display is reward power. As a manager I tend to give my employees certain rewards for goals they make each month hoping that it will motivate them to come to work and do their job to the best of their ability. I would say I use both powers because as a manager I want to motivate my employees and I also believe in getting rewarded for you hard work. Also being an employee I want my manager or supervisor to know that they can trust me and understand I will work hard to get the job done. The way I can improve my leadership and management skills knowing

Wireless World

...The wireless industry has grown over the years at an exponential rate to keep pace with the rapidly increasing demand for information at our fingertips. Wireless relates to a communications, monitoring or control system in which electromagnetic waves carry a signal through atmospheric space rather than along a wire. Most wireless systems use radio frequency or infrared waves. RF or radio frequency includes any of the electromagnetic wave frequencies that lie in the range extending from 3 kHz to about 300 GHz which include the frequencies used for radio and television transmission. Infrared Waves (IR) includes frequencies from 3 THz to 430 THz (Ahmadi, 2010). Mobile communications was mainly applied to military and public safety services until the end of World War II, but after the war it began to be applied to public telephone services. The first public mobile phone service was the Mobile Telephone System or MTS which was introduced in the United States in 1946. In this system, operation was simplex and call placement was handled by a manual operation. The MTS was then followed by the development of a full duplex automatic switching system, the improved mobile telephone system or IMTS (Haag, 2010). The IMTS was first introduced in 1969 using a 450 MHz band. Although it was widely known in the US as a standard mobile phone system, it was not able to cope with rapidly increasing demand for two reasons: it was a large-zone system and its assigned bandwidth was not enough...

Dorfman Pacific Rolls Out a New Wireless Warehouse

...CheckPoint: Dorfman Pacific Rolls Out a New Wireless Warehouse IT/205 CheckPoint: Dorfman Pacific Rolls Out a New Wireless Warehouse The problem facing Dorfman Pacific was an inefficient picking system within their warehouse. This problem caused an increase in total required hours to perform the same tasks costing the organization excessive overtime pay. Solutions could include all of the following examples. The most basic solution with the lowest cost to implement, but also the lowest gain in efficiencies would be to reorganize the warehouse using order history to keep the most frequently ordered products in an easier access location and placing the slower moving product in further off locations. The next solution would be to implement a full paperless system including handheld scanners that wirelessly feed order information to warehouse employees. The most expensive solution would be what is known as an automated warehouse. This would require a small fleet of GPS, radio controlled, and proximity aware robots to perform all picking and packing tasks eliminating the human element. The best solution based on the type of goods used within the warehouse would be the mid-range full paperless system that includes handheld wireless scanners. To implement the solution we will have to choose which hardware and software we will need for the warehouse and also what it will need to interface with throughout the rest of the business. We will need a small area of the warehouse to...

...Telecommunication has been my preferred domain since I completed Bachelors from Mumbai University. The transformation of computers to iPad, and telephones to small palm sized mobile phones, without wires, inspired me to gain an insight into the factors responsible for wireless communication. The extraordinary developments in this field, both in Wide and Local Area Networks, especially in the Network Management and Security Systems further stimulated my interest and have encouraged me to opt for post-graduation in Computer and Network System Security. After completing my high school, I enrolled myself for the graduate program in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The well organized syllabus has given me a comprehensive exposure to the core areas of Digital Communication and Wireless Systems. I have developed a keen interest in these subjects mainly due to their highly mathematical approach. And because of my diligence and hard work I was able to score 62% in B.E. To acquire more practical knowledge of Networking Systems, I joined a firm, XXXX Enterprises as a Network Engineer in May 2010. While working with them I gained immense of experience. Wireless Signals

...Wireless Signals Raquel Barthelmes IT/242 September 30, 2012 Randy Guin   Abstract This is a short study of the different types of wireless technologies in common use today. This study will touch on only four types, although there are actually numerous types fulfilling many different uses. Wireless Signals Introduction In the world today, we have begun to rely heavily on various new technologies. Everything from the way our vehicles run to being able to spy remotely on our own houses can be done with the advances made in technology in the last few decades. One of the newest and most frequently used advances today is those that have been made in wireless technology, although that in itself is by no means new. The very first completely wireless system was patented by a man named Marconi in 1897(JPL’s Website, 1995), and a new future in communication was conceived. There are currently numerous wireless technologies available around the world which enable many tasks to be completed more quickly than ever before. From networking to opening a garage door, wireless technology has invaded the every-day lives of billions of people. Businesses are able to employ people to work remotely from home on a scale never before seen, which brings us to the first type of wireless technology I will outline here: Networking. Networking Wireless networking is perhaps the most commonly used type of wireless technology, primarily because every...

Clay jr New Trending Technology Paper Mr.Larsen Comp 2 14 January 2013 IEEE 802.11AC New and Improved Wireless Technology The new technology for your wireless home and business network is almost here! I’m talking about the IEEE 802.11AC which is going to be faster and capable of handling more of your High-definition video transfers with speeds equal to a gigabit ethernet. This is nice if you like technology but at what cost should I change my networking devices? The benefits are great but now we know neither the cost nor the date when gear will be available for the business world. With the 802.11ac technology we can only assume that this will cause most companies, who make our end-user products like laptops, tablets and servers for the business world, are going to need to accommodate this new addition to the wireless world. AC technology will have the capabilities to expand its bandwidth from mandatory 80 mhz to 160 mhz which doubles the network access. It also has MIMO and the MU-MIMO, which stands for multiple in and multiple out and multi user multiple in and multiple out. This allows for the communication between terminals, which is better for signal use to the IEEE 802.11AC 2 system. 802.11ac will give the end user whether its a laptop, handheld device or server more access to its network by doubling from 4 spatial streams to 8 spatial. Although the old b/g/n networking routers are very well capable of handling...
