If you were a women in the Middle East, would you rebel against the injustices against you? Would you believe the lies of your husbands? Would you use Allah as an excuse?
Currently in the Middle East, the abuse against women is growing and growing more by the minute. They’re being forced to marry men that they don’t like, forced to have sex at a young age, sold like they’re somebody’s property and being physically tortured by their husbands. There are a lot of different actions and reactions regarding the situation about women in the Middle East. Some supported, some chose to speak up, and others chose to oppose against women’s rights. There were also some restrictions against the women.

Document 7 was a picture of an Iran women playing soccer while wearing a hijab in 2012. The picture itself made me think about a lot of things that made me happy and confused at the same time. The first thing I thought to myself was that I was glad to see an Iran women playing sports and showing the world that women in the Middle East can be far more than miserable wives and loving mothers. What had me confused was the fact the she was wearing a hijab. I’m aware that most Muslim women wear their hijabs to show pride in their culture and show their respects towards their God, Allah, but I was thinking to myself like damn, why do they have to wear that thing for everything? Can they have a break? Do they choose to have it? Do they even like it? A lot of people in the Middle East also supported women’s rights by speaking up. A well known advocate for women’s rights is no other than Malala Yousafzai. In document 6, Malala talked about the injustices that the women in the Middle East go through and how she chose to handle the situation. Malala talked about how education went from being a right to being a crime and how she then realized that she had two choices: either stay silent and wait to be killed by terrorists or speak up and be killed.
