“Why people Don’t Help in a Crisis”

I do not understand how people can stand around and watch someone be murdered or injured and not react by helping them. I think because as a bystander there are three things that you’ll have to notice if you’re going to react to the situation, and those are notice, interpret, and decide. People tend to look around to see how others are interpreting the crisis because if they do not react to the situation then everyone will not react to the situation as well. When you were younger you were taught in your cultural element not to intervene in other people business because it was rude, but according to some situations it was not that they didn’t want to help it was because they we’re shock and stuck and could not move there eyes from there windows. I think some people do not help in a crisis because of fear of putting themselves in danger, and a lack of care of helping a complete stranger. In a crisis situation people have to notice that something is happening because they do not want to react to a situation and not be misunderstood. Then interpret if to call for help or not, and then decide if they want to get involve because they might be scared to put themselves in a risky situation. People do not help because they are a bystander and they are afraid, but as a bystander they determine for others actions on how they react to the situation. I know that people would want to do the right thing and help during a crisis, but it is all on how they notice, interpret, and decide for their own well

...Question 1 Explain with reasons whether anyone (and, if so, who) can take any action against Rachel in respect of the rent-free month for her flat ANS) According to the background information provided we can say that Rachel was responsible for the pre-incorporate contract made on behalf of the company. As Rachel put her name in the contract so she is fully responsible for the contract. This can be backed up by First EEC Company law Directive, Art.7 “if before a company being formed has acquired legal personality, action has been carried out in its name the company does not assume the obligations arising from such actions, the persons who acted shall, without limit, be jointly and severally liable therefor unless otherwise agreed” This was implemented by the European Communities Act 1972,s,9(2) and is currently in effect as the Section 5.1 of the Companies Act 2006. s.51 (1) CA 2006; “a contract which purports to be made by or on behalf of a company at a time when the company has not been formed has effect, subject to any agreement to the contrary, as one made with the person purporting to act for the company or as agent for it, and he is personally liable on the contract accordingly.” Kevin on the other hand is also the part of the contract, so he is the one who can take action against the company in the event of contract not being fulfilled. ...corporate governance will determine what rights, responsibilities, and privileges are extended to each of the corporate participants, and to what degree each participant may enjoy those rights. Generally, the foundation for any system of corporate governance will be determined by several factors, all of which help to form the final form of governing the company. Within any corporation, the structure of corporate governance begins with laws that impact the operation of any company within the area of jurisdiction. Companies cannot legally operate without a corporate structure that meets the minimum requirements set by the appropriate government jurisdiction. All founding documents of the company must comply with these laws in order to be granted the privilege of incorporation. In many jurisdictions, these documents are required by law to contain at least the seeds of how the company will be structured to allow the creation of a balance of power within the corporation. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-corporate-governance.htm SIX CHANGE APPROACHES OF KOTTER & SCHLESINGER The Six (6) Change Approaches of Kotter and Schlesinger is a model to prevent, decrease or minimize resistance to change in organizations According to Kotter and Schlesinger (1979), there are four reasons that certain people are resisting change: 1.Parochial self-interest (some people are concerned with the implication of the change for themselves ad how it may effect their own interests, rather...

...Dillon Farnum Assignment # 1 There are 3 methods of psychological research. 1.) Correlations; this is a statistical measure of the extent to which two factors are associated. These factors are called, variables because they can vary in quantifiable ways. Age, educations, weight, grade point average, socioeconomic status, income, IQ scores, anything that can be measured is a variable. Scatterplots and correlation coefficients allow us to make predictions from a person’s score on one characteristic to another characteristic. They do not, however, provide any way to say what causes the person’s score on either characteristic. A positive correlation means that high values of one variable are associated with low values of the other. So, a positive correlation exists when the two variables increase or decrease together. That is, they vary in the same direction. A negative correlation exists when an increase in one variable is accompanied by a decrease in the other, vice versa. A zero correlation means that two variables are unrelated. For instance, the relationship between college grades and hair color is probably zero. The strength is that correlation is much easier to do, because you don’t have a control group and an independent variable to manipulate. The weakness is that correlation only shows a relationship or lack of relationship between two variables. 2.) The Experimental Method consists of; The hypothesis states the relationship between two variables. The...

...ASSIGNMENT # 2 Human Resource Management Ramish Ashraf 12126003 BTCM Submitted To: Sir Hassan Jabbar Submission Date: -01-2015 Q#1: What are the practical consequences of using employee stock options as a motivator? Ans: Employee Stock Options (ESO): An employee stock option is a contract issued by an employer to an employee to purchase a set amount of shares of company stock at a fixed price for a limited period of time. A stock option granted to specified employees of a company. ESOs carry the right, but not the obligation, to buy a certain amount of shares in the company at a predetermined price. An employee stock option is slightly different from a regular exchange-traded option because it is not generally traded on an exchange, and there is no put component. Furthermore, employees typically must wait a specified vesting period before being allowed to exercise the option. Types of Employee Stock Options: There are two broad classifications of stock options issued: 1: Non-qualified stock options (NSO) 2: Incentive stock options (ISO). Practical Consequences Explanation: The idea behind stock options is to align incentives between the employees and shareholders of a company. Shareholders want to see the stock appreciate, so rewarding employees when the stock goes up ensures, in theory, that everyone is striving for the same goals. Critics point out, however, that there is a big difference between an option and the ownership of the underlying stock....

FAMILY BACKGROUND My father is a fisherman and my mother is a fulltime house wife. I have five sisters and one brother; four of my sisters are already married and had their own family. So only the three of us my sister, brother and I are still staying of our parent. LIFE OF MY CHILDHOOD My early memories from childhood are somewhat vague, for the first year of my life, I mostly spent the day either crying or sleeping, as babies do. A year later I began walking or what I remember taking a couple of step and stumbling awkwardly onto the floor. I also began to utter my first spoken words. In year 2000 at the age of five, I was enrolled at a local kindergarten where I would learn children’s songs or play all the morning and spend my afternoon watching the Disney channel at home. I studied up to grade level at the same school. I was a happy kid that time. At the age of twelve I was through with junior high school. A couple of weeks earlier I’d been accepted to enroll at San Joaquin National High School. My first day of school was mix up emotion, a nervous and excitement; Nervous because of new environment and new different faces, and excitement because I can meet new friends and acquaintance. Few months of staying in that is school was a big change to me, from elementary girl to high school teens. Even if I lost my weight...

...2. How should the company recognize revenue based upon the two possible FOB contract structures mentioned in the case? Why? FOB shipping point – Biovail’s contract with the distributor had title change in Manitoba when it left the shipping dock. (Byer takes responsibility for the goods when the goods leave the seller’s premises) FOB destination – The agreement between Biovail and the Distributor provided that title too, and the risk of loss with respect to the product would not have passed to the Distributor until the product was delivered to the Distributor’s facility. (Sellers remain responsible for the goods until the buyer takes possession) To recognize revenue in accordance with US GAAP, it has to meet below criteria. 1. Persuasive evidence of an arrangement exists 2. Delivery has occurred or services have been rendered 3. The seller’s price to the buyer is fixed or determinable 4. Collectability is reasonably assured Reading through the case, we can find and assume that 1, 3, and 4 meet the US GAAP criteria. There must be a sales agreement in order to deliver the product and must indicate the price on the contract. Since the distributor is a major international pharmaceutical company collectability is also assured. But criteria 2 must to be analyzed. For FOB destination, the revenue should not be recognized in the third quarter. Based on this statement that “the company confirmed that the manufacturing cost value of this shipment had been fully insured...

Records Format

...Summarize in 250-300 words the differences among source-oriented records, problem-oriented records, and integrated records. Include how you think the advantages and disadvantages of each record format affect every day work- remember to think about retrieving records as well as filing them. Source-oriented records (SOR) maintain reports according to source of documentation. This means that whomever the document is generated by, whether it being a nurse, radiology, or a physician each has their own section in the patient records. Problem-oriented records (POR) or problem-oriented medical records (POMR) is a way of record keeping that focuses on a specific problem that a patient may be having, which uses four components database, problem list, initial plan, and progress notes to identify problems. In a POR patients are assigned one or more problems and notes are documented for each problem using the SOAP structure. SOAP is defined as subjective, objective, assessment, and plan. Subjective is a patient’s statement about how she/he feels. Objective is the observation of the patient. Assessment is the judgment, opinion, or evaluation made by the health care provider. Plan is the diagnostic, therapeutic, and educational plan to resolve the patient’s problem. Integrated records format is the arranging of reports in a chronological date order. This allows observation on how the patient is progressing according to test results and how well the patient is responding to treatment based...

Status of Books in Modern Society

...Books are symbolic of learning, and the educated. For years now, having a home library was the luxury few could afford. The lucky few who had one were immeasurably proud of it, and rightly so. Today, not only are books beginning to lose the value that they once had in the eyes of Man, their place in society has been increasingly challenged by the newborns of the digital age. New trends such as the increasing pace of life, the accelerating rate at which new information is being pedalled forth, and the ubiquity of the effects of capitalism have driven people to become more efficient. The by-product of such phenomena is that Man is taken as its slave, and only the interests of the market are considered, instead of the individual. Unfortunately, this has dealt a severe blow to the significance of the book in modern society. All indicators seem to point out that the book is unworthy of its more efficient counterparts like the personal computer or tablet. Yet, the book holds a special place in our hearts: its final trump card. We should not be too quick to oust the book out of our lives even with the proliferation of suitable alternatives, for there is still indeed worth of the hard copy even in the frenzy of modern society. Evolution seems to have taken mankind back to square one, where the modern man (like his ancestors thousands of years ago) worries about his next meal, appointment or payment. "Next" seems like the buzzword of modern society, with people constantly looking for...
