Prepare the schedules, and I will post them immediately. | Are there any time changes that affect the schedules on the pylons? | What channel was used to send the message? | Face-to-face, verbal communication. | E-mail | What was the misunderstanding that occurred? | He did not want to create the schedules. | She did not specifically ask for the changes, and I did not realize that she wanted me to create the schedules for the pylons. | How could the misunderstanding have been avoided? | There are no established standard operating procedures for creating and installing the schedules. | I feel that my supervisor should have been more specific about her needs. I did not know that she wanted me to create the schedules, and submit them to her. |

In the first misunderstanding, I learned that I should have listened to why the co-worker did not want to create the schedule. From his experience as a graphic artist, he waited until the manager in the Passenger Amenities Department sent notice to install the schedule. From my experience in customer service, when there is a problem or missing information, it is corrected immediately.
I learned that we had different work styles, and different level of respect for each other. As a more experienced employee, I was very demanding of my co-worker. Although it takes no more than a few minutes to print out the schedule and laminate it, I did not consider whether or not he was too busy to create the schedule. I also realized that we could have avoided this misunderstanding, and others, by establishing a procedure for printing and installing schedules.
In the second misunderstanding, I learned to get clarification from the sender. I sent her the entire Route Implementation Order. It included an explanation of each change and a map of with changes. However, it did not include the actual time changes that are necessary to create a schedule.
This this misunderstanding, I did not get clarification. The information that I sent to her showed her the locations that were affect by the changes. As a matter of fact, she should not have had to ask for the changes. It is my responsibility to prepare the information for pylon schedules. By the time she asked, I should have already created the images for the pylon schedules, and put the information in her folder.
