In the article, Shitty First Drafts, the author Anne Lamott from Bird by Bird, brilliantly writes about the importance of writing shitty first drafts. Lamott believes that even the best writers, all writers for that matter, will write first shitty drafts. She states that it “is how they end up with good second drafts and terrific third drafts.” Throughout her experiences of being a writer, she has learned that writing does not always come easily and sometimes it can be compared to pulling teeth. There are many difficulties that good writers, including herself, go through in order to end up with good drafts. Best writers struggle just as much as a college student struggles when writing an essay for an English class. But that is why it is important
