WEEK 3 WRITING ASSIGNMENT PART 1
The Author I chose is Randall Jarrell. His passage is very interesting. The most significant thing about the protagonist is the fact that he's dead. He tells us the tale of his own death. It is also important to think about how he tells us the story. He doesn't seem too worked up about it—quite the opposite, really. He tells us part of the story in a fairly dry, matter-of-fact way, and he tells us other parts in a kind of mysterious, figurative way.

So, what are the advantages of having a dead speaker? It gives the poem a very different tone than it might have if the speaker were recounting the death of a friend or fellow soldier. It is unusual for us to be able to discuss something as dramatic and emotional as a violent death in such a detached or metaphorical way as our speaker does.

By writing this poem in the voice of a dead soldier, Jarrell is able to make every aspect of the poem contain the element of death, even the parts that are about living.

The living are always going to have a very different perspective on death than the dead which makes this passage so interesting because it give the perspective on death from the actual dead, which is seldom because …well, they’re DEAD!

WEEK 3 WRITING ASSIGNMENT PART 2
I chose F. Scott Fitzgerald. "Babylon Revisited" is the story of a Charlie Wales, a former drunken party-goer who returns to Paris, the site of his former 1920s debauchery, shortly after the stock market crash of 1929. Charlie sees his world with new (sober) eyes and is both shocked and appalled by the extravagance that characterized his former life. The story is rooted in the financial crisis of its times. Fitzgerald wrote the piece in December of 1930, when the good times of the Jazz Age (also called the "Roaring Twenties") had come to an end...

...Writing Assignment #1 – Segmentation and Consumer Research This paper examines research on segmentation and consumer behavior. Consumers can be described using geographic, benefits sought, psychographic, and behavioristic dimensions, yet demographic factors continue to be top of mind predictors or explanations of shopping patterns. Some stereotypes are close to the behavioral reality of today, while others are not. This paper challenges you to examine current research on segmentation and consumer behavior and shopping data from the MRI Reporter Database. To learn about recent research on segmentation and consumer behavior, particularly the demographics of age, gender or race/ethnicity, access the Business Source Premier database available through the Temple University library website and locate at least two relevant academic articles published since 2000. Week One Assignment: Writing

...When you’re writing anything beside you free write which you really don't have to show to anyone because it's meant for you to read. But when you’re writing anything you always want to think about your audience first because they are the ones who will be reading you work. Lets say you writing a children's book you don't want to write something about someone getting hit by a car, how much they was bleeding and they lived to see another day. It might sound nice that they lived but this is not the type of book you would want children reading at a young age can scar them. You want to make sure that the way you’re speaking in a children's book is sweet, nice, and fun for them to be happy. Now for another example if I was writing a movie script I would have a bigger audience, I would want to choose what type of move am I going to write if it's a comedy I would want to make sure the stuff I'm writing is funny something you can go home to and crack a joke about it to one of your friends. If it is a documentary then I'm going to want to make sure that I have all the details about that I'm talking about so it is a quick movie and no one really understood what I was talking about. Your audience is your key to anything you write its best you think about how you want to speak to them threw your...

Written Assignment 1: the Psychology of Writing

...announcement, upcoming activities, and prayer list. Occasionally, I had to submit letters within the bulletin for the parishioners of a detailed message I wanted to portray. The bulletin provided communion between the church and the parishioners. It was also an important way to present the church to new visitors. That is why making the bulletin required several steps that were necessary to help me along the composing process. My writing process started by gathering all letters, memos, announcements, and scheduled appointments for that week. By doing so I gathered information that I would later use to compose my work. I discussed with the pastor and wrote down everything he wanted to make reference to in the bulletin. These notes usually gave me a foundation to know how and where I should begin. The bulletin was done in a chronological order. This made it easier for me to organize my topics and themes according to upcoming events. Each topic was covered briefly and in simple paragraphs. On the back of the bulletin I provided a full page of Reflection. My writings varied depending on the season and feasts of the church and often included a scripture. This was a way that would prepare the parishioners and help them enter that special time. Considering my audience my tone was friendly and interactive. Generally, I had to do my own research on the scriptures and based on my own sincerity and knowledge I would compose my work. By editing my work I would become aware of......

Prg/211 Calorie Count Tool

...Team B Calorie Count Tool PRG/211 May 5, 2014 Team B Calorie Count Tool PROBLEM STATEMENT Team B was asked to develop a program which would calculate the user’s daily intake of calories and measure those calories against the overall calories expended. The core purpose of this program will do two primary functions. First, it will record the user intake of calories as acquired through meals throughout the day. Second, the user will record caloric output associated with physical activity. This information will be calculated together to determine the caloric surplus or deficit for the user. In order for the program to execute accurately, and provide customized results, the user will be required to input personal data to include gender, age, weight, and height. This additional information is essential to determine the user’s default caloric burn rate, otherwise known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The BMR and the calories burned as a result of physical activity will be calculated against the intake of calories to determine the overall success for the user. As the program is executed it must: * Record user name, age, height, weight to enable more accurate calculations * Record the users specific caloric values entered for each meal * Record the user activity and caloric burn values for that activity * Calculate the basal metabolic rate (BMR) for the individual * Subtotal the total caloric values for the day * Combine the physical activity......
