...OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE VOLUME XX FROM THE UINITED STATES Dear Mr. President: It has been a year since I started communicating with you through this medium and ironically Volume XX, the first year anniversary production, is being sent to you from the United States of America, at a time when our beloved Nation is in all aspects submerged and immersed in Ebola. I intend to objectively provide hope to the hopeless, in the current desperate system in which the Nation entrusted its health and safety to a government which has proved to be unworthy of the Nation’s trust. Just as when during the bloody senseless civil war, I was stationed in the United States and together with Sulaiman Tarawalie contributed with a political commentary, to the fight against the rebels, in giving hope to the hopeless, through a programmme,” Africa My Africa”, broadcast on Radio Democracy. At the end of the programme I signed off as the Voice of the Voiceless, a name of which I am very proud and more so since it has now been adopted by many others. I will bring the latest information on how it is being done in the United States and the American effort being made to help us in West Africa. For instance 3,000 American troops have been ordered into the fight in West Africa by President Obama, most of them medical professionals, not to provide security, but to be more involved in the medical intricacies of the fight. They are fully embedded in Liberia...

...St Bartholomew the Great Marketing Plan 1. Rationale Since its founding in 1123, St Bartholomew the Great (SBG) has been a place of worship; providing spiritual guidance, solace and charity to the faithful and those in need. Today, the organisation has 2 primary functions: The teachings of Christianity and the preservation and restoration of the ancient fabric of the Church for the benefit of both the religious and secular. As a not-for-profit (NFP) organisation, income generation is about creating surplus which is directed back into the organisation rather than creating profit for shareholders. All income therefore is directed towards the charitable objectives (as set out on the Charity Commission website) and therefore the Church's activities, no matter how broad, lead back to the two primary functions. It is imperative that these are kept in mind as these are the foundation stones of the culture of the organisation. With the high overheads incurred by such an ancient building, it is important that the organisation can rely on its own enterprise to generate income. Traditionally it might have been able to survive by donations and legacies from wealthy, pious benefactors. However, in an ever-secularised society where recession has seen all charitable organisation battling for funds, this is increasingly unrealistic and the Church must find ways of becoming as financially independent as possible. SBG must expand its activities to attract a wider market segment and...

Mind in Catholic Novel

...towards prose in the second volume), to the ´ ´ creation of a new theopoesie.2 Epic poetry continued to offer a means of exploring religious and scientific ideas throughout the nineteenth century (Quinet, Hugo, Bouilhet), but there was already a backlash by the 1820s, and, as the novel rapidly established itself as the major literary genre, a number of Catholic sub´ genres developed. The ‘Avant-propos’ to Balzac’s Comedie humaine expresses nostalgia for the alliance of throne and altar, but only a handful of the novels — Le ´ Cure de village (1839), for example — promote a Catholic sensibility. The new emphasis on the inner life encouraged by the violent upheavals of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods, and in literature by Chateaubriand, Constant, and the early Romantics, prepared the way for novelistic explorations ´ of...

Psychology Papers

...Wednesday, April 9, 2014 PSY/460 - WEEK ONE SHORT ANSWER Environmental psychology is likely to be a new field for you, although many of the concepts are probably familiar. Provide your own definition of the discipline. Discuss an important milestone or influence in the development of environmental psychology and provide reasoning as to why you chose this one. Environmental psychology is a branch of psychology that studies how the environment affects individuals, and vice-verse. There is a reciprocal relationship between people and the environment they live in, as they both affect each other. The relationship between nature and the human species has been an object of study for many decades, and understanding this relationship can help individuals learn about the importance of conserving and maintaining the world that supports them (Steg, 2013). The environment provides humans with food, water, air, and all the other necessities individuals need to survive, even if, in a world dominated by technology and progress, it is easy to forget that one way or another, everything we need to survive comes from the earth. Environmental psychology focuses not only on the physical influences humans and environment have on each other, but also in which ways nature affects individuals’ behaviors. One important aspect of this discipline is the belief that people’s behaviors are not determined solely by the environment (Steg, 2013). Most psychologists in this area believe in free will...

Hebrew Literature

...Hebrew Literature From Classic Encyclopedia 1911 HEBREW LITERATURE. Properly speaking, "Hebrew Literature" denotes all works written in the Hebrew language. In catalogues and bibliographies, however, the expression is now generally used, conveniently if incorrectly, as synonymous with Jewish literature, including all works written by Jews in Hebrew characters, whether the language be Aramaic, Arabic or even some vernacular not related to Hebrew. The literature begins with, as it is almost entirely based upon, the Old Testament. There were no doubt in the earliest times popular songs orally transmitted and perhaps books - of annals and laws, but except in so far as remnants meat- of them are embedded in the biblical books, they have Scrip- entirely disappeared. Thus the Book of the Wars of the Lord is mentioned in Num. xxi. 14; the Book of Jashar in Josh. x. 13, 2. Sam. i. 18; the Song of the Well is quoted in Num. xxi. 17, 18, and the song of Sihon and Moab, ib. 27-30; of Lamech, Gen. iv. 23, 24; of Moses, Exod. xv. As in other literatures, these popular elements form the foundation on which greater works are gradually built, and it is one function of literary criticism to show the way in which the component parts were welded into a uniform whole. The traditional view that Moses was the author of the Pentateuch in its present form, would make this the earliest monument of Hebrew literature. Modern inquiry, however, has arrived at other conclusions (see Bible, Old Testament)...
