My personality can be described as: responsible, hardworking, helpful, joyful, and trustworthy. I am an overachiever when it comes to my grades. I always try my best academically, and my high grade point average is proof of that. I pushed myself while I was in high school by taking Advanced Placement courses and honors classes. One reason why I try so hard is because I know it will all pay off in the end when it comes to applying for scholarships, colleges, and making my family proud. I have seen my mom struggle and she has made sure that I know how important it is to get a good education and a job so that I will be able to support myself in the future. I hope to transfer to Florida Gulf Coast University, my dream college, and get my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. I can save money by staying close to home and can continue to work at Publix in Lake Placid, where I have been working three days a week for the last two years. I want to make my way up to management and I feel that these degrees will help by giving me the skills I need to progress in the workplace.
I want to continue working for Publix because it is an excellent company to work for. Publix has many locations, offers good hours, and also offers stock to its employees. One of my current managers at Publix has been a great mentor to me, providing me insight into the many careers Publix has to offer. I hope to become a manager just like her.
Receiving this scholarship would validate all the hard work that I have put forth in order to maintain a high grade point average. Plus, it would help relieve some of the financial burden for my mom, allowing me to pursue the classes I need so that I can hopefully enroll as a full time student.
