On day one, I was assigned to the Republican party and my constituents were rural and blue collared workers. Right after I was assigned, I became the speaker of the House. I had the job to assign everyone in the Republican party to a committee. I listened to what other congress members felt about which committee they feel comfortable with and then assigned them to that committee. The three committees that we had were the Ways and Means committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Armed Services committee. I put myself in the Ways and Means committee. After everyone got in their committees, each committee got proposed two bills. My committee got proposed a tax bill and a healthcare bill. We passed the bill through the committee. Then we talked about the healthcare bill. Both parties agreed that we needed universal healthcare, but I saw parts of the bill that I did not like and did not think that my constituents would like. I thought that the bill would spend too much of the government’s money and that it would affect how we would finance our tax bill. What generated this massive spending was a section that included that nobody can be denied benefits by the United States Government, an insurance company, or employer. I proposed an amendment to this section which allowed the United States Government, insurance companies, and employers to deny people above lower middle class. We passed this bill in the committee with that amendment. After we voted on these two bills, it was time for the whole house to vote. On voting day, the house was proposed three bills. Two were from the Ways and Means committee, and one was from the Appropriations committee. The bill from the Appropriations committee was an agriculture bill. It eliminated subsidies from wealthy farmers. People that were my constituents. This was the only bill that I voted against. After intense debates, all 2 bills were passed through the house.
