Xuan Dinh Influence On Buddhism

On Thursday, February 18, 2016, my World Religions class at Rock Valley College was privileged to have a guest speaker. Our speaker’s name was Xuan Dinh and his ordained name is Thich Phuoc Tri. Mr. Dinh is a Buddhist Monk and he attends the Phap Lam- Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in Rockford, IL. He talked to us about the founder of Buddhism, different points in Buddhism, and the importance of meditation.
Xuan Dinh, also known as Thich Phuoc Tri to his brothers and sisters in Buddhism, informed us that Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha translates to “wish- fulfilling”. Siddhartha Gautama was born in a small kingdom of Kapilvastu or Kapilavatthu which is now known as Nepal, India. Gautama was born in 563 B.C.E, and died in
