Zachary Ryan Bussman. A great son, a great brother, but way past all of that, a great person. Zach was always striving to be the best he could be. Skating, playing the guitar, sports, doing front flips off of his garage onto pillows and blankets…no matter what it was you would always get Zach’s best effort. One specific moment that has and will always stick in my head was in 2005 when myself, Zach, Nick Bart and a bunch of other close friends were on a house league baseball team together. A championship house league team I should say. Zach was our all-star catcher. Now if you know Zach you know about his temper. When Zach was mad, everyone paid the price. One game Zach was so upset and down on himself because of an error he had made. Little did he know he was going to be the star of that game. I was on the mound pitching and Zach was behind the plate catching. A foul ball was popped up, and I see Zach take off and I thought to myself there’s no chance he’s catching that….next thing you know I see Zach dive head first, completely horizontal with the ground, and make the catch. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a kid with a bigger smile on his face. Ever. That season our squad went on to win a very exciting house league tournament championship. I could sit here for days talking about my fallen brother who helped make me who I am today. And saying that, I want to thank him for the friendship he gave me. I will never know why he had to go so young, but I know that God has himself one heck of an angel. Forever missed and forever loved, you will always be in my heart

Zach

...Zach gateley B.1 10/13/14 Life of Zach Being Zach has its advantages and its disadvantages. Zach was born 6 weeks early his body was not fully developed. When he came out of his mother he had a big bubble where his belly button is and it had some of his intestines in it among other parts. Once he was born he had to get surgery right away. He was in urgent car for 2 weeks his parents could only visit him 2 minutes every day because the doctors said they can bring illnesses in that can kill me. After I got out of urgent care the doctors said Zach has a rare syndrome called beckwith-wiedemann syndrome. This syndrome is an over growth syndrome, now before you say that’s why he is so tall it’s not true. Zach wasn’t supposed to be this tall at a young age. He was going to be tall no matter what. But with the syndrome affected his eleventh chromosome. That is his muscle chromosome. It effected everything that involves muscle and makes it stronger and bigger. Zach got lucky that it only affected that. But not as lucky as most people are. He still went to the hospital every month for checkups and stuff like that. When Zach turn 2 his tongue grow ginormous so big actual it couldn’t even fit in his mouth. His parents were told if anything was to happen like this they have to let it be until my body grows into it. But Zach’s tongue was getting so big and strong it was pushing his jaw out words. His parents were worried so they took to the hospital. The doctors didn’t know what to...

Streetcar Named Desire

...“Men are the savage and brutal forces of society.” Compare and contrast how masculinity is explored in two texts you have studied in light of this comment. In A Streetcar Named Desire, the men are seen as cruel and bitter due to their harsh use of force to achieve what they want. Whereas in All New People, the men are perceived as the victims of society rather than its actual driving force. In A Streetcar Named Desire, Stanley fulfils the duty of carrying the traditional patriarchal role of the breadwinner in the society of the 1950’s era. He is represented as masculine through the use of his dominance in the household, control over Stella and being the prime influence in his social group of friends, as they see him as someone they want to be. However, this is contrasted in the modern day text of All New People, as Charlie conforms to the image of the ‘new man’ by emphasising the different types of masculine forms in society and how they are widely accepted. He expresses this through the use of showing emotion and being more considerate of other people’s feelings, while being aware of his own. Tennessee Williams makes it prominent that in 1950’s post war America, men and women each had specific gender roles that they had to attain and carry out. Stanley’s physical sovereignty is embedded throughout the play due to way he behaves and his innermost desire to control everyone around him. “Well, you can hear me and I said to hush up!” “[yelling]: Sit down!” Stanley demonstrates...

Casablanca Review

...Everyone has seen movies of different types before there are dramas, romances, mysteries, and comedies to name a few. Comedies in particular are fun to watch because everyone enjoys a good laugh from time to time, and one of my favorite comedies is a movie by the title of Out Cold. I never knew how much Out Cold, which has a pre Hangover Zach Galifianakis in its cast, took from Casablanca until this week. Especially, the part that uses a jukebox and 311 song to reenact the famous scene in which Sam plays the song at Ilsa request and Rick comes out upset to hear the song only to find her standing there. Casablanca is considered a classic American movie made in 1942. It stars the actor Humphrey Bogart who despite being an actor some four decades before I was born I have still heard as of a exceptional actor. I find that older movie are usually hit or miss with me, but I did enjoy this movie because one it is set at the beginning of World War 2 which is a interesting time. Also, while the movie isn't action packed with special effect it is very character driven and that keeps a person invested in the movie. Lastly, the movie has a run time of one hundred and two minutes but it doesn't feel like it drags on and that might be the result of good editing not letting scenes become to long while giving all the necessary interactions. I would say the focus of Casablanca would be the complexity of human relationships. It also looks at ideas of morality with the love triangle of...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Zach Wahls

...Zach Wahls is a 19 year old engineering student who was raised by two women. His goal was to persuade the government officials to not pass a law to disallowed gay marriage in Iowa. Zach had a very daunting task of arguing for something that people fear and hate for no reason. Persuading people who are generally closed minded to the idea of gay marriage or gays in general is difficult. I do believe his speech was persuasive, and does follow the A.I.D.A format very well. He opened by appealing to your typical American’s sense of pride in where they come from; identifying himself as a sixth generation Iowan. He also reveals himself to be an engineering student, which I believe was the show that he was not your average Joe. Intelligence and success always seem to get the attention of high officials and businessmen. After getting the attention of everyone, and introducing himself he drops the bomb; He stated that he was raised by two women....

Lori: Let’s not go there what you I can never forget. Zach: That’s been so long ago and besides I have apologized so many times for my mistake. Why don’t you forgive and forget? Lori: Because what you did was too horrible to forgive and definitely too hard to forget about. The shit you did was gross, sneaky, and embarrassing. Zach: {Shaking his head in regret} that night I was way too wasted and I can hardly remember what really happened. Lori: {stands up with hands in a fist} well let me remind you then. Lily And Sue Monk Kidd: Chapter Analysis

...In Chapter 7, Lily meets Zach, and Sue Monk Kidd develops themes regarding racism/racial tension through the interactions between Lily and Zach. This causes Lily to re-think her own perceptions of race and racism and how she feels about certain issues. To begin with, when Lily first sees Zach she is shocked on how good looking he was because she always thought that African American people couldn't be attractive. On page 116 it says "But his face I couldn't help staring at. If he was shocked over me being white, I was shocked about him being handsome." This suggests that Lily is in a society where she has learned that if you were African American, you couldn't be attractive and she had actually believed that until she met Zach. Lily never thought that she was a racist, but when she thinks deeply about it, she realizes that ideas of racism have been planted...

I find their car and open the back door. Right before i shut the door, a picture catches my eye. It was a picture of Zach and his family at city hall. He looked so happy in that picture. That was the weekend he asked to visit. Somewhere in my stomach I felt knots, knots of guilt. The week he asked to visit i turned him down because of family problems. I should have told him it was okay if he visited. I would have met him in person, hugged him one last time, and just got to know him more than i did. I snap back to reality when cynthia taps my shoulder. “You okay, dear?” “Oh, yes i am.” “Zach always liked history.” She smiled. I raised my eyebrow. I loved history, but i always thought Zach hated it. That would have been something me and Zach related...

Secret Life Of Bees Movie Vs Book

...The Secret Life of Bees is about a white girl named Lily living in a world that is strongly racist. She accidentally killed her mother when she was young, and it haunts her. Lily lives with her unloving father T-Ray, and their maid/slave pretty much, Rosaleen. The book and movie are both broadly about Lily’s journey running away from home and learning to forgive herself for her past and find out that she is lovable. The book and movie had a few major differences. The first difference in the plot was when instead of Zach being put in jail, like the book, he was kidnapped. This shed Zach in a different light, it makes him seem somewhat weak as opposed to what happened in the book. I guess it had the same effect of Zach being gone for a period...

...for a crime if all five elements of criminal law are proven beyond a reasonable doubt. These elements are mens rea, actus reus, concurrence, proximate cause, and corpus delicti. After two hours of deliberation jurors found Zach Williams guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of his ex girlfriend, Lindsay Hollister. Friday morning, Lindsay was found in her apartment; victim of six stab wounds. The Forensics team and other officers who arrived on scene collected evidence including a mirror with blood splatter and the knife suspected to be the murder weapon found under a chair. Phone records prove that late Thursday night Zach texted Lindsay’s best friend, Emily, saying that Lindsay would pay for breaking up with him. The murder weapon was proved to be the knife found under the chair by matching the shape and pattern to the wounds in Lindsay’s body. DNA Forensic Analyst, Dr. Mark S. Levin, tested the blood found at the scene. Lindsay’s DNA was a match to the blood splatter on the mirror and the knife contained two different DNAs. One was confirmed to be Lindsay’s and the other was a match to the DNA of Zach Williams. Upon Zach’s arrest it was discovered that he had a deep cut in his hand made by the same knife used to kill Lindsay. Zach Williams was convicted using the five elements of criminal law....

How Lily’s Journey Teaches Her Irreplacable Lessons

...The Secret Life of Bees, a beautiful coming of age novel written by Sue Monk Kidd, teaches its readers powerful lessons that touch the heart. Lily’s decision to run away enlightens her perspectives on life and helps her discover herself and her values. The journey that she makes results in a better understanding of the true meaning of family, the faults of her society, and what being happy really consists of. The first Lesson Lily learns is about family. Lily’s family life when she was living at home lacked the love and affection she needed. After running away, she makes several important discoveries about what family really is, and where it is found. The first, and most prominent, example of this in the novel is Lily’s mother. After accidentally killing her mother when she was young, Lily has to live with the unfortunate realities of only having one parent. It is clear that Lily feels the absence of her mother. “The queen, for her part, is the unifying force of the community; if she is removed from the hive, the workers very quickly sense her absence. After a few hours, or even less, they show unmistakable signs of queenlessness” (7). This passage is directly talking about bees, but indirectly referring to Lily and her mother. After she leaves her home in Sylvan, South Carolina and ends up in a house surrounded by black women, Lily realizes that a “mother” is not necessarily what it is defined to be. At the end of the novel, Lily finds that, in fact, she has adopted multiple...
