Zeus from Pandora’s Box is classified as the trickster because he tricked man and doomed the world with evil things. The Greek myth, “Pandora’s Box”, the author uses Zeus as a trickster to portray a theme that we should never trust our enemies no matter how good they pretend to be.

Zeus’ precise will to punish early mankind for having any benefit through the tricks that Prometheus, the divine benefactor of human beings, played at Zeus’ expense. In the beginning of the story, Zeus thought that since he was the chief god, anything he wanted went his way. Back then, at any meal, gods and goddesses were allowed to pick out what they desired before any other person. So Zeus , being the chief god, “took the largest portion he could see” thinking it was covered with the most meat. When he found out that Prometheus replaced the actual meat with bones, his anger level rose very quickly and that’s when he decided to seek revenge. Zeus thought that just because he was the chief god, every best thing would be made just for him and him alone to devour( in this case). Even though he is chief god, he should at least be considerate of others and not get mad because his expectations were not met.

After finding out what Prometheus had done to him, Zeus “declared that men would never have the luxury of fire on earth”. If anybody knew what type of person Zeus was, then getting him angry would not be an option; if Zeus is not happy, then everybody else’s life is going to be miserable. Zeus is so evil, he goes out of his own way to create another source of evil to do the destruction for him. Prometheus, the creator of human beings, had a brother, Epithetheus whom Zeus presented Pandora (Zeus had meant to introduce her as the source of all troubles). Prometheus had warned his brother not to fall for Zeus’s tricks, but when he saw Pandora; “she is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen” he thought to himself, he just could not resist her beauty. Before Pandora and Epithetheus had met, she was given a box that “ was sealed and told she was never to open it”. Day after day, she looked at the at the box wondering what could be inside… until one day, when her curiosity finally broke her. And there she went, opening the box she had been forbidden to open, letting out all of life’s evil; suffering, sorrowful, hateful, envy-like…etc….. As we know, Zeus was the type of archetype figure that disrupts our games, exposes our schemes, and spoils our dream pleasure. Even though he is the chief god, and that he is indestructible, he is still the trickster who is full of sly jokes and malicious pranks. This is also a reason why we should not have faith in anything we are told by enemies.

...Zeus was the god of the sky and ruler of the Olympian gods. He overthrew his father, Cronus, and then drew lots with his brothers Poseidon and Hades, in order to decide who would succeed their father on the throne. Zeus won the draw and became the supreme ruler of the gods, as well as lord of the sky and rain. His weapon was a thunderbolt which he hurled at those who displeased or defied him, especially liars and oathbreakers. He was married to Hera but often tested her patience, as he was infamous for his many affairs. Zeus, the presiding deity of the universe, ruler of the skies and the earth, was regarded by the Greeks as the god of all natural phenomena on the sky; the personification of the laws of nature; the ruler of the state; and finally, the father of gods and men. Using his shield, the Aegis, Zeus could create all natural phenomena related to the air and the sky, such as storms, tempests, and intense darkness. At his command, mighty thunders would flash and lightnings would roll, wreaking havoc; or the skies would open to rejuvenate the earth with life-giving water. As the personification of the operations of nature, he represented the grand laws of unchanging and harmonious order, by which both the natural and the spiritual world were governed. He was the god of regulated time as marked by the changing seasons and the regular succession of day and night, in contrast to what his father Cronus represented before him; absolute time, i.e. eternity. As the ruler of...

...tender honey. Growing hungrier and hungrier as the days rolled on Melvin began to have difficulty finding food and fending off his family from the vicious venomous snakes. One night Melvin woke in the mist of the night by a terrifying sliver of snakes all around his nest. As they did every night the snakes tried to break into the nest. Melvin held his dear family close in his arms and prayed as hard as he could to the great Gods of Olympus, in hope of living to see another day. The next day, the snakes moved on, without breaking into Melvin’s threshold. It was only a matter of time before the walls of his nimble house would give in to the strength of the snakes. Melvin decided, for the sake of his family’s survival, that he had to speak to Zues, the Great God of the Animal Kingdom, to urge him to restore balance to living things. After a brief goodbye and a quick kiss on the check from Betsy Melvin ventured to Greece. After 12 days of trekking through sands and swimming through waves Melvin finally arrived in the distant lands of Greece. Melvin marched right into the Olympus Palace and demanded to speak with Zeus immediately. After explaining his circumstances to the gentle God perched in his thrown Melvin...

...THE GEOPOLITICS OF OIL Beatrice E. Rangel By 2015, we will need to find, develop and produce a volume of new oil and gas that is equal to eight out of every 10 barrels being produced today … the cost associated … is expected to be considerably more than what the industry is now spending. — Mike Bowlin, CEO, ARCO, 1999 en to 5 to 1. Once the ratio hits 1 to1, oil may be technically extractable but it will be of no use as an energy source. The occurrence of the Oil Peak or Huber’s Peak would call for strong international cooperation to rapidly increase output while curbing demand and investing in alternative energy sources. But what if someone has an alternative plan? SCENARIO A: ALL COME TOGETHER The Middle East finds a path to stability; the Americas actively engage in development of energy resources, as the region holds 12% of the world’s energy reserves. The Americas come together under a development-based approach to Energy Security which reduces the rate of consumption of oil in the United States while creating up- and down-stream job opportunities for the lower income echelons in the countries where significant oil and gas reservoirs are located. Pricing policies entice development of alternative sources. Over a period of 20 years, the energy structure of the Americas becomes the most diversified in the world. Innovation tied to alternative sources of energy boosts development rates in the hemisphere. Democracies become gradually more stable, as the development......

Aristphanes View on Love

...argument makes since but on the other hand you could argue that nowadays people don't dedicate their entire lives just to finding their “other half” and losing complete focus on life and not realizing people can love them without being their soul mate. Aristphanes describes how the love idea started by stating what happened to the humans. There are three types of humans described by Aristphanes “The male kind was originally and offspring of the sun, the female of the earth, and the one that combined both genders was on offspring of the moon, because the moon shares in both. They were Spherical, and so was their motion, because they were like their parents in the sky” (Austin 75). After the third sex human, the “adrogynous” was cut in half by Zues and “now, since their natural form had been cut in two, each logged for its own together, wanting to grow together” (Austin 76). Humans wanted to be complete and the only way they could do so is if they find their other half and reconnect with each other. Since the humans wanted nothing but love when they connect “they would die from hunger and general idleness, because they would not do anything apart from each other…whenever one of the halves died and one was left, the one that was left still sought another and wove itself together with that”. When the humans have found their partner they eventually died because they refused to separate and once that happened...

Ransomware

...Ransomware Ransomware is a type of malware that limits access to a computer system that it affects. Just as its name goes, it then asks for ransom payment to pay to its creator in order for the limitation to be taken away. Some of these malwares encrypt files on the hard drive while others just lock up the system and display messages persuading the user to pay the ransom (Michael). There are two types of ransomware, one that locks the screen and displays a message that prevents you from accessing the computer, and the other that encrypts files on a systems hard drive and prevents one from opening them (Blue). The first known ransomware was written by Joseph Popp in 1989 and was known as PC Cyborg or “AIDS.” This malicious software presented itself to the user as an expired software license and told users to send money. This malware would demand US$189 for it to unlock the system (Michael). There was another ransomware known as Krotten that appeared in 2006 which disabled all files and displayed the text in German. Winlock originated in Russia in 2010 and did not use encryption. This one would limit access to the computer and display pornographic materials. This one specifically attacked Russia in a very big way. The users of the computers would need to buy some unlocking codes in order to gain access to their computer. Ten individuals were arrested in 2010 concerning their involvement in this ransomware (McMillan). It earned the operators of......

Week 1 Discussion 1

...Networking Security Fundamentals Week 1 Question 1 "Providing Security Over Data" Please respond to the following: The CIA Triad offers three security tenets that allow data owners the framework to secure data. Considering your place of employment or your home computing environment, discuss in detail the means in which each of the three tenets are addressed to mitigate risk and enhance security in your chosen environment. In my workplace, all three security tenets are strongly enforced. Our information systems are available 99.9% of the time. We have specialists on call to support all facets of the organization, so even an unplanned outage can be mitigated by flipping to a mirror, then correcting the issue in the production environment. The integrity of the information is protected by the user account controls implemented by the data administrators, who create views and profiles for each user. Additionally, network admins restrict access to the data servers themselves. The confidentiality is also protected by the user account controls. With these in place, only authorized users are able to access or modify data. The use of mobile devices to create or access data has gained worldwide appeal and has obtained critical mass. From the e-Activity, summarize the attack and describe how you would mitigate the threat.  Mobile devices are now more alluring to attackers due to the concentration of users on a small base of operating systems. For example, prior to the launch of......
