Any component that is used as an instructional tool needs to be adjusted and improved based on the learners and how the material is presented. Evaluation of this project is focused on how to improve the actual instruction material and how to better teach the learners. The evaluation of the audience or learners is necessary to determine how affective the material is being understood and how the learners feel about how the material is presented. Evaluation can bridge the gap between how the instructor assumes or believes the material is coming across, and how the learners are actual grasping the material. In addition, learners that take the course or are administered the instruction can provide necessary unbiased feedback about how the information …show more content…
As the instructional designer builds this course, it is easy to overlook generic pieces of SIMS software, since I have had substantial time with the interface. This evaluation portion will allow the students to give feedback to the designer on how comprehendible and easy to follow the instruction was. If the ATS2 feel like this information is presented simply and comprehend how to utilize SIMS based on this project, it would be very beneficial to implement this instruction to the curriculum of all ATS at the University of Iowa Athletic Training program. The education program for Athletic Training is transitioning to a Master’s only degree, which means that the educational programs of many universities are transition right now. Athletic Training students will now be graduate student’s trying to obtain a master’s in Athletic Training, many with no previous medical or clinic experience. Experience with medical software programs will be scare in the new ATS population with the educational transition. Now would be crucial time to design this type of instruction and insert this into the curriculum so all ATS are taught the same SIMS …show more content…
This will be done by a mental self-evaluation of their understanding of navigating the interface based on questions from the instructor. The instructor will ask a questions such as, “Where would you navigate to and click to open a new maintenance record for a patient?” The students will then self-check themselves on their understanding of this question. This is their first “self” evaluation, and five of these navigational questions will be asked. After this quiz, the learners will have a better self-evaluation of their navigational understanding of the SIMS interface.
