Do you have something you're thankful for? Thankfulness is being able to have a certain amount of gratefulness for a certain thing, place, or person. Appreciation is the main thing of being thankful. People who are thankful for something usually show their thankfulness in certain ways. One such way is through thanksgiving, where we celebrate our gratefulness of each other and the houses and meals we have been able to have with our families.
To me, thankfulness means that a person has realized the true worth of something and is willing to do something to prove it. So I will be talking about the people and animals in my life I’m thankful for.
I’m thankful for my mom because she is always there for me when I need her like if I'm sad she will make me happy and if I'm mad she will try and calm me down. I love my mom and she does so much for me by giving me food and a roof over my head and for …show more content…
Another thing I'm thankful for my cat Roxy she always makes me happy and she sits next to me when i go to sleep, one time I was mad because this kid was bullying me and I came home mad and my cat was there waiting for me and was playing with a shoe string and it made me laugh because she had the string wrapped around her paw and was trying to get it off.
My dog,Molly also makes me happy by rolling over on her belly and barking, she also runs around and tries to find the ball and brings it to me for me to throw for her, for instance one time I was bored and she brought the ball to my feet to play and that made me happy. I think all animals can help with stress. Especially dogs and

Personal Narrative: The Struggle Through The Writing Process

...One major thing I learnt from this class was to primarily focus on what other people said about my certain topic first, rather than coming up with an argument that doesn’t have strong roots. I used to focus more on what `I wanted` to say, and ignore what other scholars have already established. My inclination towards being a selfish writer caused me to struggle through the writing process. Since I did not listen to what other scholars have said in the past most of the time, finding sources that supported my specific argument was a rough thing to accomplish. Throughout the semester, “They Say, I Say” oriented discussion taught me that listening to other people is as important as speaking clearly. In fact, in a field like psychology, one cannot...

Educational Experience

...usually a “light bulb” goes off in my head and I’m like “that makes perfect sense, why didn’t I think of that”. Like it all comes together. I know it will take time and that is what my other nurses are there for, I just don’t like being the novice, in my previous job I was usually the person doing the training or the person who people went to for solutions or ideas. I also look forward to the all of the doors that will open once I receive this degree. This is one of the best things about being a nurse, the opportunities are endless! One of my greatest fears was pursuing my bachelor’s (actually it started with the beginning when I first enrolled for nursing school) is if I’m smart enough, can I handle it? I always struggled through high school barely graduating but I did it with support of teachers. I do feel that if I can get through nursing school and will get through this program, but I can still feel that fear in the back of my head screaming for some attention. While I was completing my prerequisites for the nursing program I held off on one class and when I finally had no choice, I enrolled in ENG 102. I definitely have a fear of writing papers, my stomach turns, my hands get clammy just thinking about (my parents think I’m crazy). I was so thankful that I had an amazing teacher. She taught the class...

A World Divided

...Louis 1 Ansley Louis Professor Matthew McEver English Composition 1101 September 20, 2015 A World Divided The crystal blue waterfalls and crystalized sand shimmered as it fell through our hands. Beautiful people came from around the world to glimpse famous people visiting the island, or to get away from the hardship and stress of their everyday lives. As for me, I saw the poverty of Nassau, Bahamas. Desperate people crowded the straw market and stared across the bridge at Atlantis where vacationers slept in Mahogany furnished rooms with luxurious bedding. Why did the residents have to live the way they do, sleeping on dirt floors? Into the night, the brilliant lights of Atlantis became a world miles away, but out of grasp. We approached the market eager to do some local shopping. Hundreds of vendors brought everything they created to start their marketing line. We live in the U.S., where items are ready-made and disposable, and, if something breaks, we buy a new one. I began thinking about my Michael Kors sunglasses that I had broken on the boat and how I was going to order a new pair when I arrived home. This venue, this world I walked into, was a world that required thought and imagination, of taking the very least commodity they had and turning it into a marketable item to sell, not for the latest technological device or new shoes, but to put food on the table. It humbled me immensely. Louis 2 I approached an elderly man, who looked to be about eighty years...

Motivational Learning

...In this paper, this author will be writing about the different perspectives of motivational learning. Though there are several views, this paper will focus on four in particular theories, which will include Behaviorism, Cognitive, Humanistic and Sociocultural perspectives and this paper will compare and differentiate the difference of these perspectives. Motivational Behavioral Perspective of Learning According to Huitt, (2011), he describes the Motivational Behavioral Perspective of Learning as “elicited by stimulus associated/connected to innately connected stimulus and obtain desired, pleasant consequences (rewards) or escape/avoid undesired, unpleasant consequences”. In other words, Behavior is the response to stimulus, it has been suggested that all behavior is learned from the environmental conditioning factor (McLeod, 2013). According to McLeod (2013), it is further implied that “Behaviorism is primarily concerned with observable behavior, as opposed to internal events like thinking and emotions”. To further explain this theory this author would have to say that from the behavioral viewpoint motivational learning is the result to the individuals surrounding and upbringing. The individual surrounding and environment that the person is subjected to is the stipulation that frames the persons motivation to learn. People can also be motivated to learn based on specific ways that they receive praise and rewards from their community. For instance, McLeod (2013) states...

...from almost every stage of my endogenously long schooling experience I remember a great educator who, maybe unconsciously, all contributed to where I stand today. Above all, words can barely express how grateful I am to David Card, Patrick Kline and Jesse Rothstein for being so generous with their guidance, time and encouragement throughout my Berkeley years. Being their research assistant and advisee, as well just listening to their seminar comments for 6 years taught me many invaluable lessons. Why I have to “know my value functions”, how to confuse presenters with an Oaxaca decomposition, or what a lot of troubles measurement...

...patient restraints. Although I was unable to witness restraints being used in the clinical setting during my mental health rotation, the lectures that we received and the readings that were assigned helped me to grasp the importance of acting ethically in regards to this element of healthcare. Not only should medications be monitored for their restraining effects, but restraints should be used for the shortest time possible, while nurses evaluate the patient frequently to ensure that they are healthy and that there are no complications. It is education such as this that will guide me to make ethical choices in my future career, and I am thankful to have had this learning experience. Finally, research is a crucial element of nursing, as evidence is constantly emerging and leading to changes in guidelines. I have learned that nurses must actively seek evidence-based practice by analyzing nursing research which is highest on the evidence pyramid. In N2, I believe that I gained the most experience in research through my concept paper on imbalanced nutrition. I spent hours reviewing the literature, searching CINAHL, Medline, Joanna Briggs, and many other nursing databases in order to find the best research available on obesity and overnutrition. By the time I turned in my paper, I had gained knowledge of related factors, patient perspectives, nursing interventions, and much more related to this nursing diagnosis. Research such as this is vital in providing optimal care to each patient...

Literacy Narrative

...the assumption I made about the typical first day of high school was completely wrong and it changed my outlook on high school for the rest of the year. It’s seven thirty in the morning, the sun is barely out and I’m already sweating through my t-shirt. Luckily I am not the only one, as I look around the classroom everyone looks miserable and fatigued. You could tell everyone wanted to be anywhere but at Anderson High School. The bell had just rung and our English teacher introduced himself and it seemed like it was going to be a fun year. Mr. Ger was dressed professional, wearing an Anderson golf team polo with khaki pants. I expected him to hand out a syllabus for the class to go over but instead he gave us the rubric for our first paper. He mentioned that the essay was due within the next week, which made the whole class simultaneously shrug. No one could believe that on the first day of high school we were...

Data Breaches

...1-2 years ago and am still new and learning each and every day, but I haven’t really ever enjoyed a class this much. I have been reading articles each week for these research papers that are required weekly and due to the requirement of breaking them down and performing a “dive deep” on them, I have really been able to relate what we are learning in school to actual life and real life situations. The article that I choose for this week is from Security Info Watch and it discusses the future of data breaches this year and things that we could encounter over the time frame of this year and next decade as technology continues to grow at the rate it is growing. It compare the big breach with Target and aligns it to other situations that are possibilities with the way we use our technology. One of the big theories that the article through out was that we are going to run into issues with all of this cloud computing and big data and that society is very vulnerable to a big data cloud breach. Apple has started the whole ball rolling with cloud computing storing all of your data on a cloud platform easily accessible by all of your devices. The only problem is that it too is easily accessible to other things such as malicious people. Another possible breach that the article discusses is that healthcare is slowly being stored via a cloud platform as well and there are potential ways that a breach of that information could be a reality soon and one day. Results...

Johari Window

...The Johari Window is a model shaped as a four paned window with four quadrants designed to be informative on how to have successful relationships within a group in terms of understanding the sections. It is easy to imagine what is in each quadrant and what each represents. An individual such as myself is able to view what is known to self and others and what is not known to self and others, by observing how one presents and receives information through the panes. The Johari Window enables an individual to describe, evaluate, and predict the aspects of interpersonal communication in their own life by exploring what is seen in each window. The information is portrayed in many different forms including verbal and nonverbal, fact and opinion, feelings and thoughts, as well as perceptions. The model addresses a real life situation that enables an individual to improve communication skills, build trust within a group, and develop self-esteem. The framework of the Johari Window enables people to see themselves as others see them, and is a very unique way of looking at relationships and the communication process. The first pane in the Johari Window is known as the Arena and represents the degree of self-disclosure in relationships. It contains personal information that is known to others and ourselves. Increasing self-disclosure implies trust in others, self-acceptance, and reduces the need for defensiveness. By revealing something about you encourages others to reveal something about...

Paper on Plagarism

...Some Insight on Plagiarism in Higher Education Amy Joyner Liberty University Evering, L., & Moorman, G. (2012). Rethinking plagiarism in the digital age. Journal of Adolescent & Adult Literacy, 56(1), 35-44. The article written by Evering & Moorman, 2012, is an article about the complexity and issues that evolve around plagiarism. Plagiarism as we see it today is clearly an issue of concern as far as why people do it and what can be done to avoid it. Plagiarism is not just an issue but clearly a serious and ongoing problem in the world today that needs to be put under control. According to Evering & Moorman, 2012, “Most public and private schools, colleges, and universities have academic integrity or honor codes and consequences for plagiarism, but few professors and teachers explicitly address what plagiarism means or provide examples of individual contexts and degrees of unauthorized copying”. Plagiarism is considered a serious issue that needs to be re-exam as far as Evering & Moorman are concern because it is said that not many students understand what plagiarism is let along trying to prevent it. Although several schools have honor codes about plagiarism and the penalties you can get, it’s still not a discussion with students about what it is and how to avoid it. The article states that “students are seldom engaged in instruction or discussion about what plagiarism is, why it is a problem, and how it can be avoided” (Evering & Moorman, 2012)...
