The Best Four Years of Your Life
Growing up you always hear from adults and current college students that college is one of the best experiences of your life. It is your motivation all through out school to do your homework, study and get good grades so you are able to get in to any college you want. I remember my first college tour it was to University of South Carolina instantly I fell in love. Once I experienced the campus for the first time I knew it was a place I could call home. Getting my acceptance letter was one of the best days of my life before I knew it summer was over and it was move in day. Little did I know there were a lot of things I did not know about being a college student that I am gradually starting to figure out. There are a lot of changes that come with going to college and the way in which you deal with them all depends on you as a person.
One of the hardest problems people tend to face coming to college is going to a new place where you really don’t know that many people and there are a ton of new faces. Through out my life I’ve always had to move a lot with my dad being in the military, I hated it at the time but now I am grateful for it because it made me who I am today. Always having to make new friends made me outgoing and not afraid to walk up to someone new and start talking to them. It made me not afraid to try new things and made me learn how to adapt to new places and new schools. Coming to college is such an exciting experience because it’s a place for you to make all new friends and meet all different types of people from all over. One of the things I really wanted to do coming to college was join a sorority. I ended up joining one of the best sororities here Zeta Tau Alpha and I absolutely love it. I also plan on being involved here at Carolina and taking advantage of every opportunity given to me.
The main reason you come to college is to get a higher education so you can peruse your dream job one day. Growing up I changed what I wanted to be a million times just like everyone else I always knew I wanted to do a job where I could help people. Helping people is something I love doing and makes me happy so when I learned all about becoming a nurse I knew it was perfect for me. What I did not know is how different college classes are from high school classes. So far at Carolina I would say this is my biggest cheese issue. From going to having no homework to five hours of studying each night is not a very easy transition. What gets me through it all is knowing that in four years it will all be worth it. Reading “Who Moved My Cheese” I really related with the quote “Imagining Yourself Enjoying Your New Cheese Leads You To It” because every class that has been a lot of work so far I just imagine myself in my scrubs being able to help and treat millions of people. Which is why my main goal here at Carolina is to strive for the best GPA I can achieve and to get into upper division. I won’t be able to go to everything I want to and school is always going to have to come first. I know its not going to be easy but it will be worth it.
College comes with a lot of changes but change is a good thing. If you continued doing the same things over and over again you would eventually get tired of them and never know what else is out there for you to experience in life. How can you be afraid of something new if you never tried it? I know throughout these next four years of my life everything will not go as I plan things will come up and some will “move my cheese”. The key thing is for it to not to let it stop me of accomplishing my dreams and becoming the person I want to be.

Saying Goodbye

...Looking back When I first walked through the doors of Brunswick High School four years ago, I saw an open door to multiple opportunities. I remember everyone telling me how this would be the best four years of my life. Since that day a lot has changed. My surroundings have changed, my image has changed, my friends have changed, and my knowledge has advanced. From the beginning of high school I have met some very important people. In class on my first day of school I remember I met numerous people and I could not even match names with faces on the second day. I remember most of all how welcoming everyone was and how warm hearted and kind the teachers were. Of course now as a senior, four years later I pass the faces of people that were once close friends that have now become strangers and I pass teachers I used to adore and look the other direction. It is a sad thing to think about but life goes on. In my opinion, high school prepares students for the real world. It doesn’t just give us knowledge on mathematics and how to translate shakespeare. It teaches us the ins and outs, and the ups and downs of life. You meet real people, ones that would cross an ocean for you, and the ones that wouldn’t cross a puddle. You meet yourself, you learn who you are, who you want to be, and what you want to accomplish. You make mistakes while there is still room for improvement. You find parts of education interesting that you thought you would never care about. You watch the people around...

Aviation

...noun — "a person practicing a profession; a person who engages in some art, sport, etc. for money, especially for his livelihood, rather than as a hobby; a person who does something with great skill." These definitions could have been written with aviation in mind because it definitely has high standards, and the people who meet these standards certainly must exhibit great skill. Aviation professionals are not born, they are educated. With professional aviation's increasingly complex and high-technology environment, being an aviation professional, today and in the future, requires more than just knowing how to fly. Few of the major airlines require a college degree for employment, but in the past several years, more than 95 percent of the pilots hired have at least a four-year college degree. If you want an airline job, you stand a better chance if you are among the 95 percent with a degree than the 5 percent without one. Aviation is an exciting career field, and because you can earn an above-average income, competition for jobs is keen. Traditionally, military pilots often place first in the employment contest. Civilian pilots consider this unfair, but look at it from the airlines' pragmatic point of view. Military pilots are college educated, which means they've proven themselves in an academic environment. Employers know they will do well in the challenging training environment that is an ongoing part of any professional's career. Employers also know that military pilots have...

The Four Agreements

...concerned about the future; keep your attention on today, and stay in the present moment. Just live one day at a time. Always do your best to keep these agreements, and soon it will be easy for you. Today is the beginning of a new dream.” This statement by Don Miguel Ruiz is probably one of my new favorite quotes. Mainly because it is relatable to everyone. The Four Agreements is a guide for those who are seeking a development in their personal life. The book was written by, Don Miguel Ruiz, and he got his ideas from the ancient Toltec wisdom of the Natives of Southern Mexico. The Toltec people were known to be very knowledgeable artists and scientist. They made a society to explore and conserve the traditional spiritual knowledge and practices of their ancestors. Don Miguel Ruiz was brought up in rural Mexico. He was expected to follow his Toltec ways by his mother who was a Toltec faith healer, and grandfather who was a Toltec ‘nagual’, a shaman. Despite this, Don Miguel decided to pursue an orthodox education, which allowed him to be authorized to practice for several years as a surgeon. He first studied the Toltec ways in profundity, and then healing, teaching, lecturing and writing during the following two decades. It was then in 1997 when he published The Four Agreements. (Miguel Ruiz) The Four Agreements: Be impeccable with your word: Speak with Integrity and say only what you mean, and mean what you say and be responsible for your actions. Try not to use the word...

If Everyone Went To College

...If everyone went to college, what would the world be like? Many people think that college is necessary to go anywhere or do anything in life. A college degree is not always the answer. College after high school is not always needed because there are so many other opportunities in life. A lot of people go into the military after high school. Others want to start earning money as soon as possible so they get jobs right away. In some cases, people get family businesses handed down to them so they go right out into the workforce. Certain people work better with their hands than with their minds. Who is going to fix your car or build your house? Who would deliver your mail or drive the school bus? Who would provide your entertainment? While some...

...How to use annuities as a put option on your retirement A put option is a commonly used stock market strategy to protect against the decline of a holding below a specific price. Many savvy investors use this downside protection plan as insurance against unpredictable market volatility or unforeseen economic events. Planning for the unknown downturn with your investments makes sense, and annuities could be used in a similar fashion by serving as a put option on your life. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst We are all familiar with this saying, but ask yourself if your portfolio is truly prepared and set up for the worst. Is your spouse, kids, and grand kids taken care of? Will you be able to maintain your preferred lifestyle if some unpredictable event happens and the markets get destroyed for a long period? Annuities are transfer-of-risk strategies that solve for only four items in your life; principal protection, income for life, legacy, and long-term care. An easy to remember acronym is P.I.L.L. Do you have a put option in place to cover for those four things? Bull market selective memory syndrome This is a diagnosis that I have come up with to explain how people have totally wiped out the market chaos in 2008 from their memory. I know that the passing of the "easing torch" from Bernanke to Yellen seems to indicate that the bull will continue to overwhelm the bear, but we all know that markets go in cycles and another 2008 event will happen again sometime in the...

Methods of Evangelism

...Methods of Evangelism Hayden Wyrick Liberty University Online Four Spiritual Laws The “Four Spiritual Laws” method of evangelism is s gospel message in a systematic way to help the “lost” person come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It starts with oneself knowing that God loves you. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” God loves us so much that He had His son Jesus die on the cross to save us from our sin. Knowing we were going to live lives of a sinful nature He died for us out of His everlasting love. Therefor; the second step to the four spiritual laws is that man is sinful and separated from God. This means that we fall short of the glory of God just as Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Its clear that accepting that we are sinners is important; saying this we know already that God has died for our sins. Romans 6:23 states, “For the wage of sin is death,” we know that God has already paid this price for us as we earlier stated in John 3:16. Thirdly the step that states Jesus Christ is God’s only provision for man’s sin, means that you only get into heaven by accepting Christ as you savior. John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” This means that no matter how good of a person you believe you are of how many good deeds you do, it is not enough;...

The central theme of ‘’The misconception about reading’’ is that reading is training your mind, in the same way, working out trains your body. Reading is rewiring the fibers in your brain to make them stronger. Reading should be done consistently for improved outcomes in the brain and in your life. Lost Innocents

...Lost Innocents Richard Napper University of Phoenix When an individual makes the complicated decision of adding a four-legged member to their family it should be viewed as a lifelong commitment. The majority of people who decide to take in a new four legged family member usually have the best intentions at the time. However, life happens and things tend to change. The puppy who was once small and adorable is now full grown, becoming ignored, and is chewing for attention. The kitten who was once a cute little ball of fur is now not so little and clawing the furniture and using the potty in paces other than the litter box. Maybe there was a job loss in the family, or the individual has become homeless because of financial mishaps. With foreclosure on the rise these days due to a bad economy this is happening more often than not lately. One must plan for these types of issues that may arise in the near or distant future. There are a lot of individuals who believe that an animal shelter is the answer of all answers. The awful truth is they are mostly overcrowded and under staffed. More animals get euthanized inside the shelter due to lack of space than adopted by potential lifelong owners in the animal shelter. The animal shelter should not be used as a way to ease guilt on the former owners’ conscience. It should not be used as a dump site or a place to put your older animal like you would a senior citizen in a nursing home. Is animal abandonment ethically and morally wrong no...

Marketing in My Life

...Denisse Esparza Professor Craven Marketing 350 November 21, 2013 The Impact of Marketing in My Life What is marketing? Marketing is an activity. Marketing activities and strategies result in making products available that satisfy customers while making profits for the companies that offer those products to the public. Marketing has impacted my life dramatically because I use a lot the four P’s at work and my personal life. The four “P’s” are Product, Price, Place and Promotion. Society can exist without Marketing, but Marketing cannot exist without Society. Marketing is the management process of anticipating, identifying and satisfying customers’ requirements. There are various marketing tools like advertising, branding, direct marketing, sales promotion, publicity and public relations. These tools help companies make more and larger profit, and satisfy all customers. In this paper I am going to discuss how the Four “P’s” have impacted and changed my life. Product in the marketing mix refers to the item actually being sold. The product must deliver a minimum level of performance; otherwise even the best work on the other elements of the marketing mix won't do any good. I learned that a product should be in good conditions and it should be the best product offered for customers to buy it. For the business, the product should have a variety of colors, sizes, styles, etc. If the business wants to sell a large quantity and make a moderate profit, they should add or change...

Methods of Evangelism

...Billingsley METHODS OF EVANGELISM Intellectual Method-The Four Spiritual Laws Introduction There are many methods to share the good news Of Jesus Christ-Yeshua Messiah and I believe we must use more than a few to reach strangers and friends or family. As the Word says, “and he that winneth souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30 KJV). As an intellectual method I prefer the ‘The Four Spiritual Laws’ method from author Bill Bright and Campus Crusade Ministries. Although I find this method almost exact to the ‘The Roman Road’ method. There are laws that govern our physical universe and laws that govern our spiritual relationship with the one true God. Therefore we must know them and His word to be a faithful witness to the world in our lives. Summary I myself always seem to insert somewhere at the start in evangelizing, the Lord loves you very much and has a wonderful plan for your life, which also is the opening and Law one to this method and maybe why I like it so well. Law one is God’s love and plan. God’s love; “for God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that who so ever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life” (KJV John 3:16). Gods plan; “I am come that they might have life, and that they have it more abundantly” (KJV John 10:10). Law two of this method explains why most people are not experiencing an abundant life. It shows how their sin, which is basically a self-centered life, has separated them from God and what the scripture says...
