Analyzing the two short stories, The Lottery by Shirley Johnson and The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, It seems that both stories have no moral of what is right, from what is wrong. The fictional stories reveal that human can be very cruel. “The Lottery” takes place in a village during the summer morning on June 27th (Jackson, 1948). The narrator in "The Lottery" reveals a picture of people in the village being normal people that have kids going to school, banks to manage their assets and post office to receive and send mail to (Jacskson, 1948). People from the village are gathering around for a drawing of some award. As the short story unfold, the readers are shocked at the ending of the story by the award of the winner (Jackson, 1948). The lottery seems to be traditional of some the harvest of the crop that has been going on for ages without a question (Jackson, 1948).
“The Most Dangerous Game” takes place on an island that is called Ship-Trip Island (Connell, 1924). The narrator in "The Most Dangerous Game" reveals a picture of people on the island are normal civilized people with different culture background (Jackson, 1948). As the story takes place on a yacht as Rainsford fall overboard (Jacskson, 1948). This story different from "The Lottery" because it takes off from the very beginning o with the fall overboard, and catches the reader attention for more details. As the setting takes place in the home of General Zaroff but ends in the jungle, we can conclude that General Zaroff was a very wealthy man. While Rainsford was eating with General Zaroff, he notices strange behaviors (Jackson, 1948). From the very first time Rainsford made it out of the sea, he noticed a 22 empty cartridge that was odd to be hunting a large animals (Jackson, 1948).
"The Most Dangerous Game" and The Lottery reveals that human can be cruel. The story always seems to change when you being put in a dangerous position. While the "The Lottery reveals" reveals that while everyone was gathering around to celebrate the stoning of the individual that pulled the ticket with the mark of the dot on it; Tessie pulls the ticket and automatically starts yelling out "How it wasn't fair." I'm sure if her family wouldn't have pulled the ticket she would have been right along with the other people in the villages stoning away. It didn’t take long for Rainsford to experienced what it felt like to be hunted down like the animals he once hunted, and now he understand how it feels to be hunted. Now both characters from the fictional stories know how it feels when the shoe is on the other feet. As the Bible says in Luke 6:31, " Do as to others as you wold have them do to you." For the most of us all it takes is to walk in the shoes of others to understand with the others are experiencing.
