Abigail and Cole both had terrifying experiences with bears, as they were both mauled and had extensive injuries. Abigail was a 12 year old girl from Michigan. Her bear attack happened in the woods while she was going on a run. The several hundred pound North American Black Bear attacked her. Abigail was able to get away, but the Black Bear attacked her another time. She tried petting the bear to get it off of her, but to no avail. She then played dead, and the Black Bear left her alone.
Cole was camping at a Northern Alaska island, where he had burned down his supplies. He had to live in the wilderness, since he had also burned down his cabin. The Spirit Bear defied him, and Cole decided to attack it. He threw a makeshift spear at it, but the Spirit Bear swatted it away. The Spirit Bear pounced on Cole, and started scratching away at Cole’s chest. Even when Cole tried to stab it with a knife, the Spirit Bear continued to maul Cole. Their attacks were vicious and required hospitalization. Their attacks would give them much pain and many scars, and would affect them for the rest of their lives. Even after these events, they are both ready to go out into the wilderness again and live their lives freely. Though, their attacks share similarities, they are also very different. Cole provoked the Spirit Bear to attack him, while Abigail’s was out of the blue. Cole’s attack was more viscous, as Cole wasn’t able to walk away, while Abigail was able to. Different species of bears attacked Cole and Abigail, Cole by a Spirit Bear and Abigail by a Black Bear. In the end, these bear attacks will be things that Cole and Abigail will never
