There, I did the best work that I could in discussing the movie in those two paragraphs. I can devote myself to no further discussion of such a dreary film. I will, however, attempt to discuss a couple of the themes that the movie touched on--namely Jefferson's relationship to Sally Hemmings, and Jefferson's thought and life-practice in regards to slavery. Let's begin with the Sally Hemmings story.
