The Greek word 'Βασίλειο' translated in English as "kingdom", or the Hebrew 'Malkuth' as "rule, reign, or sovereignty." When 'Malkuth' is used of God, it refers to His authority or to His rule as the Heavenly King. According to Clifford’s explanation, the four worldly kingdoms will be destroyed and the fifth kingdom that is the everlasting Kingdom will take over. Certainly, the fifth Kingdom is not of this world (Jn 18:36). Nevertheless, it identifies as “the Holy One of the Most High” (Dan 7:27) whom Prophet Daniel saw coming in the clouds (Dan 7:13) and receiving the kingship, dominion, and majesty of all the kingdoms under Heaven” (Dan 7:27). It is clear that the Kingdom is given to the Holy One and His dominion and is an eternal Kingdom

...is practiced throughout the world. Although the adult education enterprise varies in scope, philosophy, and structure in different nations, it is not unusual for approaches to adult education developed in one region or country to spread. Certainly, adult education in the United States has been influenced by the ideas of international adult educators such as Paulo Freire and Roby Kidd and by practices such as the English University Extension Movement, Swedish Study Circles, and the Danish Folk Schools (Reischmann, Bron, and Zoran 1999). Currently, a number of perspectives on adult education are evident in the international literature. Some of the trends and issues from this literature are highlighted in this Alert. Publications from the Fifth International Conference on Adult Education held in Hamburg, Germany, in July 1997 are a particularly rich source of information on international perspectives about adult education. Sponsored by the UNESCO Institute for Education (UIE), the conference brought together more than 1,500 adult educators from around the world who participated in plenary sessions, workshops, and roundtables to shape statements about adult education and develop actions for the future. A clear trend in the conference and the documents it produced was the critical importance of adult education and adult learning "for fostering ecologically sustainable development, for promoting democracy, justice, gender equity, and scientific, social and economic development, and...

...circulated around the country depicting the clergy using unflattering imagery”(Francisco). There is a long discussion on how the Church should handle the situation, when Brother Lorenzo intervenes. He suggests that “the artist’s depiction is insight into a bigger problem and should be handled by increasing the pressure the church applies to finding people who do not believe in their faith”(Spanish). “The Tribunal of the Holy Office of the Inquisition (Spanish: Tribunal del Santo Oficio de la Inquisición), commonly known as the Spanish Inquisition (Inquisición española), was a tribunal established in 1480 by Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. It was intended to maintain Catholic orthodoxy in their kingdoms, and to replace the Medieval Inquisition which was under Papal control. ...behaviour of consumption decisions, selecting products and services. BUT how can we understand cultural differences? Fortunately, psychologist Dr. Geert Hofstede asked himself this question in the 1970s. Geert Hofstede, born 2 October 1928 in Haarlem, is a Dutch social psychologist, who focuses his work on the study of cultures across nations and conducted one of the most comprehensive studies of how values in the workplace are influenced by culture. His original research of cultural dimensions involved a study of IBM employees from across the world. In fact, he developed four cultural dimensions as “Power Distance,” “Uncertainty Avoidance,” “Individualism versus Collectivism” and “Masculinity versus Femininity” respectively. A fifth dimension was added in 1991 based on the study of Michael Bond in Hong Kong which reflects the cultural differences between Europe and Asia. Hofstede gives the following definition of the LTO-dimension: “Long Term Orientation stands for the fostering of virtues oriented towards future rewards, in particular, perseverance and thrift. Its opposite pole. Short Term Orientation, stands for the fostering of virtues related to the past and the present, in particular, respect for tradition, preservation of face and fulfilling social obligations” (Hofstede , 2001, p.359). We can note that LTO and STO address the differences in cultures regarding how they view time and the importance of the past, present and the future. Cultures in STO will be...

Federal Spending

...As some of us already know, US is has the biggest debt in the world right now. US have a total debt of 16 trillion dollars. Coming in second place of world’s largest debt is the United Kingdom with a debt of 9 only 9 trillion. I said only 9 trillion in debt because comparing the two countries we can clearly see that US almost doubles the debt of the United Kingdom, that is simply outrageous. In an article by Paul Toscano, he notes, “This borrowing adds to the national debt, which has recently surpassed $15.7 trillion and is rising every second. The amount of debt is quickly approaching the federal debt ceiling, a legal limit to borrowing that currently stands at $16.4 trillion.”(Toscano). As stated by Toscano, the legal borrow limit for debt caps at 16.4 trillion dollars and the US is awfully close to that amount which horrible to hear. Eventually the US the debt will have accumulated so much that all producers, consumers, and investors will be affected one way or another which will cause unnecessary concern. This may all sounds quite bad, but all money the money borrowed is used on the American people and their needs. The federal spending is a rather huge issue in the US today, especially since we are 16.8 trillion in debt to other countries as of 2013. Some people may question about what all this money is being used for or where is it mostly going to. Well, I can say that the money is being put to good use to major programs such as military, social security, unemployment, medical...

Islam vs. Christianity

...Kyle Baldani Religious Studies Islam and Christianity: A Comparison October 4, 2010 Islam is one of the largest religions in the world, with more than one and a half billion followers worldwide it is the most rapidly growing religion today. While on the surface Islam and Christianity appear to be very different, the history of the two religions and the core beliefs behind them are very similar. Most of Islam’s population comes from the Middle East, but there are still large amount of Muslims all over the world including Africa, China, and the United States (NationMaster, np). Depending on the region in which they live some customs may vary. Within the United States Islam has grown significantly in the past twenty years, largely due to the high percentage of immigrants coming over from the Middle East. Fundamentally speaking there are a few major correlations between Islam and Christianity. Two of the biggest similarities are the monotheistic bases of the religion, or belief in one God and the belief that both religions result from the direct descendent of Abraham, a quality also shared with Judaism. While there may be many similarities in the area of which the two sects were founded, they still differ in many ways most of which come from the doctrinal beliefs at the heart of each religion. The most important figure in the world of Islam, and a name that is recognized by most around the world is the prophet Muhammad. Muhammad was born in approximately 570 C.E. in the town...

Book Report

...Miller’s Book Review This is a review of Patrick D. Miller’s book entitled Deuteronomy: Interpretation - A Bible Commentary for Teaching and Preaching. Miller begins with an introduction to his book by declaring himself and what this book is about, where Miller (2012:1) states, “The aim of this introduction is to ask some typical questions having to do with the background of the literary work and to think about it as a whole.” Miller pointed out that in doing so the book of Deuteronomy may give readers some clues to understanding the book and its purpose. He stated that the title of the book normally gives some indication of the subject matter and that sometimes the title may be clear upon reading the book. Miller claims that Deuteronomy gives readers some indication of the book’s character (Miller, 2012:1-5). The author provides a rich and comprehensive interpretation of the text through the book, describes the revelation of the Book in the New Testament, analyses the blueprint for a moral and just society as prescribed by The Laws of Moses, defines the proper role of leaders and priests from the Biblical perspective, and expounds upon exactly how individuals must interact in a divinely-inspired society. The book of Deuteronomy self-consciously addresses different generations of readers, creating unusual problems in understanding and interpretation. Miller did a wonderful job of steering preachers and teachers through these difficulties, carefully discussing the nature...
