Il répondit en bégayant « be..be.. bien sure »

A Ball Players Prayer

...God grant me wisdom, to tell a strike from a ball, to know where to throw and never to fall. Keep me always in the base line, running straight and true and I'll look for your sign, to stretch one into two. God give me vision, to see every pitch, so if a player needs help, then I will see which. Let me always hustle, so I'll be at my best and take pride in myself, in sports and the rest. God be my strength, when I throw the ball when I'm far from home plate, or against a wall. So I never miss a base, please guide my feet, bring me home safely, so my job is complete. When I help younger players, let me always give praise, so they'll see you in me, in all of my ways. God please guide our coach, to be fair and smart, to teach us to be good, let it come from his heart. Let me take a loss, just as well as a win, to do any less, is surely a sin. As long as I can play, let me make my parents proud, as proud as I am, when they yell MY name out loud. However my games end, let me always have fun and if Heaven has All Stars, I want to be one. When my games here are over and my seasons are done, let me play on your team. just like your son. Amen. I was given this for my birthday and it really inspires me to get out there and play the sport that i love, it is an inspiring peice of...

Character Traits of Myself

...How do I see myself? Often I'm asked how do I see myself. That is really truly a very hard question. Now I would think it would be easy to answer that question because who knows myself better than me. But it really is a hard question to answer honestly because I believe my mood for the moment will determine my answer. That can be unfair for me. Which is why it makes a question like that hard to answer. Normally, I would say I see myself as a sensitive, loving, fair person but also a bit nonchalant. Not lazy though. But let's say this question was ask right after I learned that I lost my job. Now I see myself as a failure. Which would make me have a character trait of being negative. Same question after some positive news like I got the job! Now my answer will be happy, a feeling of accomplishment. My character trait is now positive on myself. We all have good and bad days. I believe that each day could pose a different answer to that very same question. I also believe my wife and kids could answer that question for me as well because they see the good and the bad of me every day. They would pretty much say my character traits are the same. A good friend may only see the good side or only see the bad side of me. A friend may have the wrong impression of me. My character trait, as seen through their eyes, would be different. An employer will see me in a different light. My parents would see my traits differently. Who really has the right...

Alc (Dl) Mod 1 Disc 1 Response(S)

...I should take my Leader to the side and ask her if we can talk. When we have our talk, I will ask her about what is going on in her personal life. Typically when a once motivated, straight as an arrow Soldier starts to lack in those areas, something from their personal life has an affect on her job. I would start the conversation off with the positive notes, and then I would tell her that I’ve noticed some changes recently. I would ask specific questions, “How is your family doing? How is their living arrangement? How is your financial situation?” Etc. If she is open to talk about her personal life, then I would make sure I am listening. I would also make sure that others know what is going on as well. I would also ask around our section to see if any other Soldiers have noticed a change of behavior. I would direct her to some resources that will help her in any way. I would periodically check back in with my Leader to ask her how things are going. PARENT POST I would have a personal conversation with the Soldier to ask her why her performance is degraded. If she decides to tell me what is going on I would see if it’s an isolated incident or if she needs to speak to someone that can help her with her issues. If the issue is of a more serious nature I would refer her to the appropriate counseling agencies on post that can help her. I would inform my Platoon Sergeant of the Soldier’s performance problems and of the conversation that we had, so that it can be elevated to the...

I Want to Be Free

...The sun threw itself in the air as it rose through the darkness that had shadowed the whole area, soon replacing the coldness and sadness with warmth and happiness. Birds flew in the air after lying low from the darkness, chirping loudly as they felt alive and free once again on the winter day, The sea sparkled in the welcoming sun, swishing and swaying with joy, softly so that it wouldn’t distract anyone that was sleeping. Greenery swished in the breezy wind, the sky filled with blissful clouds, everyone outside with joy. Except me. That was the only thing keeping me alive in my compact room. The window shined with pride, the darkness fighting it with anger, trying to get rid of it, pausing as the curtain flew and covered most of light before it shone again. The beam reflected on my mirror, lighting the whole room, the darkness holding on to the last piece till finally it flew off. My room ached with delight as it finally shimmered in the warmth, the door finally getting the food it wanted as it could not reach before for it because it was shut tight away from the chilling darkness as if the sun was right inside my house. “I will be free, I will be free, I will be free…” I muttered to window as I stared at it, not blinking as if there was a staring contest going on, not noticing how suddenly my room had lit up and that the door was slowly, silently creaking open. A shadow appeared in front of me as it pushed me back from the window, realizing that someone was in my...

Moment of Failure

...My Moment of Failure My moment of failure was learning to drive. Learning to drive was both fun and nerve racking. I always wanted to drive; I knew to get anywhere I would need to learn to drive. Of course I knew ''everything'' and found out I didn't. Mom let me practice up at the Lafollette Middle School parking lot (I fussed the whole time about it) I was going around in circles in the back parking lot and learning to park. Before we went home she wanted me to park beside the fence line and back up, well, there was a pole on my side so I was trying to watch the pole, not paying attention to moms side. I ran into the chain linked fence. Running into that fence was pretty much an embarrassing and scary moment! Finally, getting to drive we was going up a steep mountain and I was going around a curve and there was another car speeding down my way. When realizing I needed to ''stop'', How? I needed brakes. Where are the brakes? I then realized I didn't know enough about the pedals in the floor board. Maybe going up a mountain the first time you drive was not the best idea. Learning from mom was not a good idea either. She gave bad directions or maybe I didn't understand what she was saying. She would tell me to go one way and I wasn't real sure what way she meant. I wasn't in her head! So that is when I started to get aggravated, and by the time I got what she was trying to tell me, we had past the turn up and instead of turning around we kept going till we realized that...

...Reflection report Good to Great In book Good to Great, the author Jim Collins concludes that it is possible for a good company to become a great company. Jim Collins and his research team were researching over five years to come to this conclusion, by examining from a list of 1435 companies, those that showed substantial improvements in their performance. Their final sample consists of eleven companies, which includes Abbot Laboratories, Circuit City, Fannie Mae, Gillette, Kimberly-Clark, Kroger, Nucor, Philip Morris, Pitney Bowes, Walgreens and Wells Fargo. They took these companies as an example of becoming from good to great and researched common characteristics that led to this development. The success of a great company can not be simply attributed to lucky shots. Many entrepreneurs believe that the great companies have coincidences or inspirations, which guide them to the right way at a critical moment. Maybe lucky shots could accelerate the progress and improvements of companies in short term. However, Jim Collins indicated in his book that although some companies perform ingloriously in the traditional industry, they also have possibilities to be great. The hedgehog theory, strong organizational culture, technology, and the flywheel effect will lead the good companies to be great ones. Implementing the rules, regulations, and disciples are profoundly important. I am not fully convinced that to become a great company, one must first shrink, down to the core...

Something

...-One Walking into school after months of not showing up was like walking into a nightmare. I forgot the smell and the peeling paint and the tiled floor. I forgot how the people talk and walk and stare. But being here again, it comes back in huge explosive waves. I feel sick. All I’ve been feeling lately is sick. I search for my locker. All the numbers are wrong, jumbled and unreadable. Asking would mean something is clearly wrong. I hold onto all my books, my backpack pressing hard on my shoulders. The bell rings and it is louder than I remember. I clench my teeth. The sounds resembles nails on a chalkboard, at least to me it does. Every day for two months I went to history class at this time in Mrs. Waters’ room. And now, I have no idea where it is. “Edith,” a girl’s voice says. I turn. “Yeah,” I say to Clara. Clara is the sweetest person on the planet. For the longest time I thought she was super fake because how can someone be that nice all the time. But she just is. “You have Waters still, right?” “Yeah,” I say. She loops her arm around mine. “I’m glad they didn’t change it.” “Me too,” but I don’t really care. Pulling me around corners and through different hallways we end up in history class. The room looks familiar, but a faraway familiar. Like a dream or déjà vu. She sits in the front row right next to the teacher’s desk. I escape to the back, the corner, right next to the window. Clara looks around and then moves to the seat in front of me. “I get it,” she...

...We know that Jake runs a Delicatessen store in a high-crime section of the city. We know that he was robbed eight times in one year. We know that he obtained a permit and bought a pistol. We also know that a man came into the store brandishing a knife asking him for all the money in the cash register. We know that Jake moved towards the register and instead of opening it, he went for his weapon and without warning opened fire hitting the robber. What we don’t know if the permit was obtained legally. He could have gotten the permit by not going through the proper channels making him discharging his weapon illegally. What we don’t know if Jake was premeditated in his actions. Jake has been robbed multiple times and he may have believed the next time there’s an encounter he’s going to discharge his gun and ask questions later. Jake’s action wasn’t ethical, the fact that he pulled his weapon and point blank shot a person at point blank range isn’t justifiable. It’s understandable that he has been victimized many times in one year but that doesn’t give him a right to pull the trigger and shooting six times at that. He didn’t give the robber a warning shot or told him that he will pull the trigger if he doesn’t put his knife down. Just the simple fact that the robber was carrying knife he should’ve considered not shooting. Jake could’ve handle it by telling warning the robber to stop or he’ll shoot. There was no warning and I believe Jake had the upper hand in this scenario...

The Destruction of Culture as It Relates to the Heart of Darkness

...The Destruction of Culture as it Relates to the Heart of Darkness In wartime, a nation destroys itself if not for any other reason that if they did not, guilt would set in and atrocities could be recognized. The destruction of culture is necessary for eventual rebirth after a conflict. With the destruction and reconstruction of these cultures, however, come different sides of every story. Everyone who is engaged in a war believes themselves to be the victim, because otherwise, the conflict cannot be justified. This is another "conscience" related issue warring states have to reconcile themselves with. In the end, the only real issue anyone has to deal with when considering conflict, resolution, and the culture affected by these is the truth. This, however, can be muddled by anything at all. In Marlow’s case, in the Heart of Darkness, the truth is muddled by the mysterious jungle and the even more mysterious Kurtz. Enlightenment is blockaded by the darkness surrounding the entire expedition, which is of course also shrouded by continuous conflict. This, like any other conflict, requires the destruction of culture and personality, which I suppose helps to explain the disintegration of the personalities of any and all persons entering the jungle. The elusiveness of truth is a theme both in Conrad’s novel and in the real history of conflict and resolution in the world. One can easily relate wars of the world to the Heart of Darkness. Both are obvious conflicts. However, while...

...Some potential needs for the audience that I should be aware of when writing a report is making sure that I am writing from the readers point of view. I should make sure that I am using the correct tone also to make sure that the reader understands what I done to get the information and why I am using the information. I will present management with an introduction what will briefly discuss details of the report. A title page will also be provided so that the reader will understand the structure of the report, also keeping it short and to the point. Results of my findings or the body of the report provides detailed information including work citing that might influence the reader to want to look more into the data that has been provided. The conclusion will interpret the facts explained and will not give my one opinion. My opinion will not be biased and will not be based upon my personal likes and dislikes. The risk for not considering the needs of the audience when doing the report will provide different point of views that the reader may not understand and leaving them confused. The body of the report is also important because it gives the reader the major part of the report that is needed for them to understand the title. I believe that if I don’t consider this risk there would be unwanted problems and most of all a poor job done. There will be bad conclusions, no flowing explanations and unfocused...

Falling in Love

...FALLING IN LOVE BY: ANONYMOUS When you think of your past love, you may view it as a failure. But when you find a new love, you view the past as a teacher. In the game of love, it doesn't really matter who won or who lost. What is important is you know when to hold on and when to let go! You know you really love someone when you want him or her to be happy, even if his or her happiness means that you're not part of it. Everything happens for the best. If the person you love doesn't love you back, don't be afraid to love someone else again, for you'll never know unless you give it a try. You'll never truly love a person you love unless you RISK FOR LOVE. Love strives in hurting. If you don't get hurt, you don't learn how to love. Love doesn't hurt all the time, though the hurting is still there to test you and to help you grow. Don't find love, let love find you. That's why it's called falling in love because you don't force yourself to fall. You just fall. You cannot finish a book without closing its chapters. If you want to go on, then you have to leave the past as you turn the pages. Love is not destroyed by a single failure nor won by a single caress. It is a lifetime venture in which we are always learning, relearning, discovering, rediscovering, and growing. The greatest irony of love is LETTING GO WHEN YOU WANT TO HOLD ON and HOLDING ON WHEN YOU NEED TO LET GO. We lose someone we love only when we are destined to find someone else who can love us even more than we can love...
