Discussion Question #1

Workplace honesty is an important foundation for the professional success of an individual or a company. A business that is run in a dishonest way might meet with short-term success, which is often the motivation for being dishonest, but unethical practices often have unexpected consequences and lead to the downfall of a company.Honesty in our daily life should be our most important value. Dishonesty in the can be found in every coner of our lives. It can be found in our government, our companies, and even our families. Maintaining honest attributes in out lives is difficult in a world that is full of corruption, lies, and secrets. Because of these traits hose who are honest stand above the crowd. Your honest behavior may inspire others to stand up with you or cause others to try and look down on you for your honesty. The only true person that you have control of their honesty and interity is yourself. John D. MacDonald gave this inspiring quote, ” Intergrity is not a conditional word. It doesn't blow in the wind or charge.” Trust between coworkers and between a business and its customers is essential for creating a healthy business environment. People who are consistently honest in their dealings with others develop an ongoing trust because people believe that they are worthy of that trust. Dishonesty that is discovered by others can have consequences far beyond the importance of a particular lie, because others will then question what else that this person has said that was untrue. Doing business in a dishonest manner, even if it is never discovered by others and doesn't lead to professional problems, results in a loss of personal integrity. People who are dishonest know that they are dishonest even if nobody else does, and this knowledge has an impact on a person's self-image. It might not be easy to be consistently honest, particularly in sticky ethical situations or when you have made a mistake, but dealing with situations honestly rather than trying to cover them up helps you to keep an image of yourself as an honest and worthwhile person.
