Future Project A. A cop can help a fireman rapidly assess people’s needs by suggesting that the cops escort the fire truck to the location of the emergency. If people see the police with their sirens and lights on driving in front of a fire truck with its lights and sirens on, the drivers on the road would really move out the way. That would get the fireman to location faster. B. A cop could teach a fireman ways in understanding the severity of a call. Knowing what a real emergency is. A cat stuck in a tree is not as important as a forest of trees burning. C. D. E. F. A cop can teach a fireman to not count on your partner to always be there for you. Some people aren’t as strong or as fast as the next person, and some missions are for you only. Like getting a person out of a burning building that’s a one man job. G. A cop can teach a fireman crowd control because they have actual training for things like that. In the police academy, officers encounter similar situations and have the knowhow to settle down a riot. H. I. A cop can teach a fireman technique in remembering repeat offenders by just remembering the names they put in the computer. If the put it in so many times they will eventually be able to match a face with a name. J. A cop can teach a fireman how to be happy with your job buy jus telling themselves that today is going to be a good day. Police officers and firemen have their lives threatened every day. Cops could get shot on the job and a fireman could get burned in a house fire, so if they come to work with positive thoughts that everything is gone be alright.
2.
A. A telephone call in the year 2050 would probably not be just a phone call. It could be a video chat where the screen pops into the sky soon as you answer it. A future phone call could even be a hologram of the person you are talking to. We already have voice dialing in the year 2012, in the year 2050, we might have “mind dialing”. Where you would only have to think about the person you want to call and your phone will automatically dial the number.
B. Eating with your family in the year 2050 would be really different. Instead of mother of the families cooking soon as she gets home from work, you could just tell the kitchen what you want to eat and it will make it for you. With the “smart kitchen” kids would be able to enjoy their meal because they got to pick exactly what he/she wanted instead of what the parents want. Each family member could all have different meals if they choose.
C. In the year 2025 a homework assignment emailed from your teacher, you would be able to video conference with the teachers and other students if you have any questions about the homework assignment. Most assignments would be more technological information. In a car with no speedometer here are some ways you can determine your speed 1. You could keep up with the cars on the road because if all the cars are going the same speed you know you’re going the speed limit. 2. You could use your RPM meter to estimate your speed 3. You might be able to determine your speed by the sound of the engine. 4. You could calculate the time it took you to get to a destination and that would give you an estimate of how fast you were going. 5. If a person is good with cars they might be able to feel how fast the car is going. 6. Some cars shake at certain speeds, if you know what speed your car shakes then you would be able to estimate how fast you were going. 7. Download a speedometer app on your smart phone. 8. Pass by a construction site where there is a speed clock to determine your speed. 9. Listen for sirens if you don’t hear any, you’re driving speed limit. 10. Place a device on the car that can read how fast you were going.

...Smartdrones Drones are generally autonomous, generally flying robots that carry out various tasks, whatever is designated by their owner or their programmer. We have seen a rise in drones operating in many fields of both service and industry, and I believe in twenty years these drones will be just about everywhere. There have been several attempts to bring the social network, and really the online experience as a whole, into a new platform. Whereas now, just about everybody has a phone, in two decades I think just about everyone will have a personal drone. It will likely have a sort of holographic projection that will connect to everybody, or only those who you choose. It will carry your information if you wish, possibly your finances, and there will be thousands of ways to customize its appearance. It might be asked, couldn’t somebody snatch your drone and steal everything? My answer to that is in twenty years’ time, we will see a major increase in cyber and personal security alongside development of these drones. The assimilation of personal drones into our lives will have a massive impact in our lives. The greatest change will be a social change. We have already seen how smartphones, while incredibly useful for myriad reasons, created barriers between people. While improving our ability to communicate with our friends and to the entire world, the apps and flash player games gave everybody an excuse to ignore everyone and everything around us. Why talk to a stranger on...

...Your Final Project for this course will be a virtual time capsule. A time capsule is a grouping of items for future discovery. For our purposes, we will imagine that our time capsule will be buried at the end of the course and opened 100 years later. The goal of our capsule is to provide an overview of what you believe future generations should remember about the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The project can be composed in Microsoft Word or Powerpoint. It can include multimedia if you wish. It should include the following eight parts: 1.A letter of introduction to tell someone in the future about your day-to-day life. What is your daily experience? Tell this person about your habits, your customs, your feelings about our present time, and your dreams for the future. 2.An example of morality and decision-making in current culture in 100 words or more. 3.Your definition of happiness in 100 words or more, including how you came to this view. Next, you will also choose an artifact for each of the following areas (4-8). You will explain the item in one paragraph, giving it context, and describing it. Then spend at least one paragraph justifying its inclusion in the time capsule: Why is this item worth preserving for the future, and what does it communicate about our culture today? Why this object above all the other possibilities? 4.A significant literary work (poem, short story, play, or novel.) 5.A significant example of art or architecture. 6.A significant...

D.D. Williamson

...Critique the prioritizing process at D.D. Williamson D.D. Williamson’s prioritizing process started off not good but once they realized their mistakes they were able to sit down and rethink their prioritizing process. As mentioned, “We took three years and two iterations of our prioritization process to finally settle on an approach that dramatically increased our success rate on critical projects (now called VIPs, or “Vision Impact Projects”). ( Kloppenborg, Nkomo, Fottler, McAfee, 2012) Even though it took them a minimum of three years they realized their mistakes and were able to overcome their negatives results and turn those results into a negative. Not all projects will be successful or even start off successful, but D.D. Williamson never allowed their unsuccessfulness to prevent them from continuing on with their projects. D.D. Williamson showed enough loyalty to their employees to know that they were overwhelmed on the number of projects they had on the table they “hired a continuous improvement manager to serve as both our project office and a key resource for project facilitation.” ( pg 48) In my opinion, D.D. Williamson showed a high level of professionalism when they brought on additional employees for their company. With that being said they were able to increase their success rate to sixty percent and that was higher than the previous year. Suggest at least one (1) recommendation to improve prioritizing process. hin the 1970s with the...

...revenue by 15 percent compared to last year, there is many uncertainty and ambiguity regarding the future of the company due to political reasons. The expectations of the people related to the near future are eliminating all kinds of possible investments and as a result the quantity of work and projects have decreased. Venezuela is experiencing a really tough political and economic situation which is leading the most important investors to leave the country and establish somewhere else. In order for SOILTECH to keep their annual revenue increasing in the next 50 years, the executive board should evaluate the possibility of globalizing the company by expanding it to countries in the American Continent such as Brazil, which has been experiencing a very high level of growth in the last few years. By expanding SOILTECH to other countries in America, the company will be able to increase its revenues and at the same time decrease the risk of being only established at an uncertain location such as Venezuela. By merging this company to another well-known company internationally, SOILTECH would have the opportunity to make new networks and at the same time show to the demanding people that this corporation is completely reliable and that any future project would be satisfactorily done. The idea of globalizing the corporation is risky and demands a lot of investments; however, it is a project that...

...Advances In Medical Technology: What Does The Future Hold? ScienceDaily (June 16, 2009) — Major challenges and opportunities will arise in the health sector in the future. Research in technology that can be applied to this sector is being carried out by several UPC teams. [pic] Although sophisticated medical technology is already available in health systems in developed countries, further advances are constantly being made. As a result of the addition of medical nanotechnology to existing knowledge of molecular and cellular biology, it seems likely that new, more personalised, more accurate and more rapid diagnostic techniques will be devised in the future, as well as new treatments that are also more personalised and promote regeneration of the organism. Clearly, as areas of research such as biomaterials or tissue engineering are developed for use in regenerative medicine, the range of opportunities will increase dramatically. Josep Anton Planell, the director of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), which was formed by the UB, the UPC and the Generalitat (Government of Catalonia) and has its headquarters in Barcelona Science Park, considers that “in the future, it will be possible to design intelligent biomaterials that, when placed where damaged tissue needs to be regenerated, will be able to stimulate the stem cells to do what we want them to do”. However, more knowledge is needed to perfect the process. He states, “We are beginning to understand which...

...expenditures that need be made. With an accurate forecast, it is possible for a company to maintain adequate cash levels that helps the company meet its financial obligations such as timely payment of payable accounts and payroll (Alice, 2009). However, financial forecasting is bound with challenges due to circumstances that are difficult to predict. Therefore, due to these challenges, actual financial results are rarely consistent with financial forecasting challenges due reasons that this paper deliberates. First, unpredictable economy is the major challenge. For all companies, the strength and weaknesses of the economy does affect their sales. This is because consumers and business tend to spend depending on the confidence they have for the future (Alice, 2009). With a weak economy, there is usually a downturn in confidence amongst businesses and consumers. This consequently reduce their thrill for spending. Therefore, company sales consequently reduces leading to flaws in financial forecast for the company. This is despite the companies having enough economists in their staff who often find it difficult to predict direction of economy at any point in time. Secondly, unknown competitive threats are another major challenge in financial forecasting. Unless where there is information eavesdropping, which is illegal, a company rarely knows the strategic decisions its competitors are contemplating. Any of these decisions may end up becoming a threat to the company’s position in the market...

...Achieving project outcomes within agreed time-scales, budget and resources it very important because it will allow the project to be well organised and successful. They are both negative and positive impacts if these project are not achieved within the agreed time-scale, budget and resources. Time-frame for the fashion show if we are able to achieve our objective within the time scale this would be a huge impact for the fashion show because the quality of the fashion show would be well organised and we would be on track with everything we need to do. Because everything would be in place and well organised , there would be less delays with the project and we would also be ready to get everything on time that we need for the fashion show. This will allow the quality of the fashion to be well planned. If the fashion show is in a good hand with lack of delays, the experience that we have gained for the fashion show it can be used for the next fashion show in the future. However if we do not complete the project within the agreed time-frame. This could cause delay of the project and allowing the project to be rushed and we would not be ready to get everything we need for the fashion show. On the other hand this would have a huge impact on the quality of the project which will allow the quality of the fashion to be poor. For us not completing the project within the agreed time-frame this could have a huge impact on us getting feedback from other student who attended the show...

...VISUAL ANALYTICS PROJECT (OPIM 5501) Project Report on FUTURE OF CARS Team 3 Project 2 Members: Ankit Agrawal Mownika Chalichama Phanindra Musunuri Long Phan  1. INTRODUCTION AND DATA Future of Cars visualization project shows the story to predict the future generation of cars. Ten years from now, in 2025, cars will be different, the drivers will be different, the market will be different, and the producers will certainly be different. The team believe that these changes will affect billions of people – from soccer moms to automotive executives, from taxi drivers to investment bankers. The data tells us that consumers are demanding greener, safer, more convenient and affordable cars. Most of these new consumers will come from emerging markets like China and India. Consequently, new trends will force car producers to modernize their supply chain, become more competitive and make lighter cars. Moreover, technology will play a huge part in changing the overall automotive landscape. Self-driving cars, car-cab services (Uber, Lyft, etc.), car pooling and the Internet of Cars all seemed like science-fiction will not remain not so long ago. Now many of them have become reality. Promotion

...Besides the benefits from implementing the project, the cost in implementing is also important to be considered. The project would perform well only if we keep eyes on it during all procedures. The appropriate improvement would be proposed during the implementation of project in order to result in better achievement for the company. In conclusion, I would like to note that sales promotion is the element of the promotional mix that is aimed at increasing the volume of products sold via a trial or brand loyalty. The brand loyalty reflects the customer desire to buy the product or service of a given brand and depending on the level of brand loyalty that desire can be different. Sales promotion sends mixed signals with respect to building brand loyalty simply because it is hard to understand the amount of time or products needed to develop a buying habit that reflects brand loyalty. At the same time, sales promotion might be effective in building brand equity, or the existing value and association made by the consumer. Environmental friendly technologies can thus be said to have had a positive effect on motor sports and the world population at large since they have not only reduced pollution thus making the earth a safer place to live but they have also reduced the cost of living. This is in relation to soaring costs of fuel that have characterized the world markets in the recent past. (McKenna, 150-160) Top tier motor sports should therefore be encouraged to implement eco...

Dim Lighting Case

...NAME: Chris Brady I. Problems A. Macro 1. The Dim Lighting Co. has to decide whether or not to invest in a major R&D project for new technology. The reason for looking into pursing this is due to the fact of declining profits and not meeting the companies operating capacity targets. The margins and operating targets dropped by 15 percent last year. Jim West has to look into all of the pros and cons of the project that Robert Spinks has presented at the staff meeting. 2. One issue is the company has been underperforming the last two years. It would be an easier decision to invest the $1.2 million for the next two years and $500,000 for the third year. The Mr. West knows that his career at the company depends on the next year profit margin. Without a strong performance he could be no longer employed at Dim Lighting Co. The other idea brought up by Bills Boswell is to purchase newer equipment for the production line which he feels would create an immediate impact on the financial profits for the company, instead of investing in a project that could fail completely. Mr. Sparks stated that it only as a 70% chance of success. B. Micro 1. The last two years had declining profits and operating targets were not met for the last couple years. Mr. West knows that he has to make this trend end and start to make the company profits increase. If the performance doesn’t change he feels that it could lead to himself being released from his services from the company...
