In the novel, The Color Purple, by Alice Walker, the narrator is an abused black woman named Celie. Walker uses this unique protagonist to comment on the racism, sexism, and abuse of women that was so prevalent in the early 1900s. The following sections, explain what makes this an excellent film. The director, Christopher Nolan, also director the Batman Trilogy, does an excellent job with his selection of characters. Nolan now has enough power in Hollywood that he can bring together some of the best ensembles of any given year, but can he always handle them?
