Personal Responsibilty

...How Personal Responsibility will give Takesha Lee College Success Takesha Lee GEN/200 Sunday, July 15, 2012 Saira Din Definition of Personal Responsibility Personal responsibility is about every decision that a person has ever made in their life. It is about growth. It is the very choices that mold persons and takes them from childhood to adulthood. If managed properly it makes us mature, able to navigate through life’s challenges. As an adult, you are in control of your actions, your failures and your successes. Linda Galindo said it best “When you are truly responsible, you believe success or failure is up to you, even if you work within a tea or are blindsided by unforeseen circumstances”. (L. Galindo) In order to be mature you must take seriously your personal responsibility, not accepting personal responsibility will make a person inadequate for decision making. Leaving them possessing the thinking of a child. Although personal responsibility is every person’s charge, it is not a given skill. It must be developed. Most times this development is early in a person’s life and is done at home with the person’s parents and teachers. Here in the beginning you should learn that as a person you are responsible for the outcome of your decisions. When I was a child, as the eldest, I had to watch my siblings, a lot. Babysitting was the bane of my existence. I disliked it because if anything happened, regardless to who did it, it was always my fault. This always...

Personal Responsibility Is Personal

...my soul” (Henley,1888, A Book of Verses). Every individual is at the helm of their own triumphs and just as censurable for every defeat. The level of success we obtain is a direct result of the amount of personal responsibility we practice. Each individual was created for a specific purpose that can only be fulfilled by them. Personal responsibility is not a team effort. This paper will provide my definition of personal responsibility and how it is connected to my college education along with my plan to practice personal responsibility in my quest for higher education. Accountability is key The key to having personal responsibility is accountability- willingly accepting responsibility for one’s actions. It is also important to be able to recognize one’s flaws and shortcomings. The ability to admit the need for improvement leads to growth and personal empowerment. Personal empowerment and accountability “are embedded within a personal responsibility framework and operating within the learner’s social environment contribute to the outcome of self-direction in learning” (Stockdale & Brockett, 2011, p.163). Another prerequisite for having personal responsibility is to have a form...

Influence of Reference Groups

...Influence of Reference Groups Lauren A. Grimsley Consumer Behavior January 23, 2011 Dr. Kelly Bruning Strayer University Abstract This paper talks about the influence of reference groups on consumer behavior. It identifies the different type of reference groups and takes a look at different websites that attract reference groups in order to gain identity and make sales. Introduction A reference group is a group whose presumed perspectives or values are being used by an individual as the basis for his or her current behavior (Hawkins & Mothersbaugh, 2010). In other words, a reference group is a group where a person will use the beliefs or opinions of the group to guide their own beliefs and opinions. There are three different forms of reference groups; the aspirational group, the associative group and the dissociative group. Aspiration Reference Groups The aspirational group is a group where people like to compare themselves to people in that group. An example of that is a company or brand will use a high favored celebrity or athlete as a representative for their product to gain patronage and attract consumers. One website that does this is www.weightwatchers.com. As well as on the commercial, on the first page of the website is a picture of Jennifer Hudson, who currently is the spokesperson for Weight Watchers. Most people who are fans of Jennifer...

Socially Responsable

...Socially Responsible ETH-316 Ethics and Social Responsibility Socially Responsible Effort This topic has so many different ways to accomplish some type of social responsibility, the list can be endless. Just off the bat, I can describe so many ways we as individuals could become socially responsible. Starting by simply giving, sharing, providing, assisting, donating, collecting or even developing; all of these are the bases of one becoming a more productive individual for the greatest good to society. The first social responsibility I have is with my family and that articulates especially with my sons. As a parent, I have to provide them with some type of ethical and moral behavior and lead by example. I can teach them all these morals and ethical behaviors but at the end if they are not applied or practiced the knowledge will not be passed on. There is an adage that states, “Just because we have it now, does not mean that we will have it tomorrow”. That is something that I am very adamant about, because in truth, nobody knows the future. We can predict and make assumptions about the future, but we cannot be absolutely sure what the future holds for us. Kids for example, think they are indestructible and in reality are living for the moment; the reason for this is that tomorrow is just another day to them. This is where parents come into the picture of social responsibility. It is the parent’s duty to teach and adhere to moral responsibility. I know the kids are...

Personnal Responsibility

...days children’s don’t know what responsibility means. The fundaments are executed from responsible parents. Communities need to compromise on passing these valuable to our future leaders. Not having the principal fundaments at home is hard to learn how to be responsible. Most individuals do not take actions for their own. When an individual takes responsibilities for their own actions everything seems to be different, I believe that if each individual takes responsibility seriously the world would be different. There is a Spanish phrase that says “We all are responsible for our own actions” and is true we pay for our actions sooner or later. In order to succeed in life one of the most important things is to set short and long terms goals and especially have the desire to change your life. Working out anger, hostility, pessimism, and depression over past hurts, pains, abuse, mistreatment, and misdirection help individuals feel free without negativism around them, there are cases when negativism is not leading individuals to achieve goals their goals because all of that negativism is holding their backs. According to Stain, “To succeed in life we need to manage and control “ups” and “Downs” experienced in every circumstance of life” ( Reality the book, 2007)....

Social Responsibility

...What is social responsibility? What exactly is being socially responsible? According to an article entitled “Social Responsibility”, being socially responsible simply means that “people and organization must behave ethically and with sensitivity toward social, cultural, economic and environmental issues.” Social responsibility should be measured by how helpful people and organization are to a society’s daily life. For example, wherever it is that you go, whether you are in college, in school, or at work, the most important key that will lead you to a successful life is being respectful to others. If your intent is to show respect to the people around you, then they will show you their respect and treat you with kindness. In addition, to explain the question of how important social responsibility is to the America society America has a significant international population. Many people that live in America are from a different environment, culture and lifestyle. They have left their country, and their family to travel across the oceans to seek a better future; they not only bring their intellect to the country, but also their cultures and knowledge to help develop the country. Therefore, it is the people’s responsibility to treat each other with respect and kindness. To live in harmony with others is to improve and to create a better community. Conversely, if a person is living a life only to judge others’ backgrounds, then that person doesn’t want to cooperate with other people...

Reaction Paper on Corporate Social Responsibility

...BUSINESS AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT “CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILTY” A Written Reaction By Jay-Ar C. Dimaculangan In business, we should bear in mind that we have lot of responsibilities to perform not just only with our specific tasks in the organization where we belong but with the community and society where our organization belongs. A company whether profit or non-profit in its form should give back whatever it can contribute for the development and betterment of its society. For me that is what Corporate Social Responsibility is all about. As reported, corporate social responsibility encompasses human rights responsibility, financial responsibility, political responsibility, and environmental responsibility. Like for example, a business has the responsibility to treat employees fairly and with respect, operate with integrity and in an ethical manner in all its business dealings with its stakeholders like customer, suppliers, lenders, general public, and other affected by its operation. It has also the responsibility to sustain the environment for future generations and be a responsible neighbour or member of the community. Having said these, we can see that corporate social responsibility are of growing importance to government and community as they promise to meet challenges of social problems within the changing welfare environments. The government today although given different issues like for example CSR is only a window dressing of the government for their...

...Rough Draft for Personal Responsibility Essay My Life, My Education, My Choice Personal responsibility is a direct choice in one’s life. It takes a conscience effort to be responsible to yourself and to others in any situation whether it be academically on just all-around in whatever life experience one goes through. The direct definition of responsibility states that the person is accountable for their own actions within their control. Within everything that a person does, they make their own choices and those choices have consequences whether they are good or bad is dependant upon the choice that they made in the first place. As a student the same applies whether you choose to cheat or do the assignment to the best of your ability the consequences are going to show. Personal responsibility is a must have for any occurrence in life. However, in a college setting it seems to hold more merit to be the best student one can be. When one upholds their choices and takes responsibility for them it will reflect in the amount of success that one encounters. Success is a measurement of prosperity from tried attempts or endeavors. As a college student, success is directly related to the amount of personal responsibility and effort that is put into the classes and coursework. There is so much more merit in a given grade that one has earned through hard work and dedication than there is in one that was received from an assignment that a student lacked integrity on.
