The traditional IRA is a pre-tax retirement account that usually provides a tax deduction based on your contributions during that year. The contributions into a traditional IRA can add up to $5,500, $6,500 if you are 50 year old and older. Traditional IRA’s growth income is tax deferred. What is great about this account is that there is no income limit, unlike the Roth IRA. Traditional IRA do have penalties if you withdraw before 59 and ½ years old of 10%.
