1. Identify issues and suggest possible solution in EPM.

BIL | ISSUES | SOLUTIONS | 1 | The company has been facing the problem of increased chicken feed cost which has risen to RM88 from RM54.50 (an increase in almost 61.5%). The increase in feeding cost has ultimately increased the company’s production cost to about 56.5%. The increase of feeding cost has affected the whole industry. | As solutions, the company should do research to come out with new innovation and alternative on more quality and cheaper chicken feed which is affordable by the poultry farmers. The company may change alternative to use other chicken feeds such as taro, broken rice, coconut husk, leftovers and etc.Besides that, the company also should buy feeds in bulk and to take advantages on discount. | 2 | Conflict of interestBelow are the situations that actually happened in the company: * the company’s General Manager, Encik Selamat has close relationship with one of the executive directors of Cold Gold Sdn. Bhd., Encik Azman. This relationship has enabled Cold Gold to extend its credit limit with authorization from Encik Selamat and not the Credit Controller (Ms. Choy) | The company should avoid personal conflict of interest that will caused ineffectiveness in operating the business. | 3 | * The company faced tight cash flow as the collection method was inefficient. * Monthly repayment schedule was not sent to customers to confirm the payment made. * Aging list not produced by the credit controller section to identify non-payment clients and follow up with further actions. * Not properly recorded the document, payment by Mr. Siva was not recorded even though receipt was issued as proof of payment made. | * Improve on collection method by sending statement of account to the customer and encourage early payment by provide discount. This statement of account is important to avoid cash payment not recorded, missing or to identify timing on payment to calculate the overdue payment. * Preparation of aging schedule to easily recognize late payment and to take immediate action to request for payment. * Supervision by senior officers over the staff. To make sure proper documentation. * Separate segregation of duties for better supervision. | 4 | Ms Choy is not able to make complaint or report about unethical officer behavior neither to the directors nor to the management. | EPM should encourage whistleblower in their company as well as guaranteed them with protection and confidentiality personal information about whistleblower. | 5 | Board members were reluctant to take action against En. Selamat because he is closed to the society and well known figures. | Board of directors should clear their roles and responsibilities in term of to take action towards unethical act. | 6 | En. Selamat left the management of the company to En. Kassim who is the finance person in the company and being assigned to do marketing of chicken of the company. | * En. Selamat must recognize his roles and responsibilities as the managing director of the company. * Besides that, En. Kassim should not be burden with other task which not related to his job descriptions. This would divert his attention to his job as an accountant. MIA professional by conduct requires its members to act objectively, confidentiality and competence. * Besides, duties should be segregated in order to effectively perform and produce result of work done. En. Kassim should not be burden with other task other than to concentrate on his financial duties. |

The first group (0-4 years), comes under the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (MWFCD) which coordinates national programmes on the growth and development of children. Through its Department of Social Welfare, MWFCD keeps a register of all childcare centres (also known as taska) in the country.
