Review of Avengers

...Yue Yu (Jasmine) Kat Gonso ENGW 1102 October 5, 2013 The audience of this review should be those people who like watching science fiction movie or fans of super heroes. My intended publication would be online blog, which is special prepared for sci-fi movies and TV shows, such as the blog Atomic Anxiety on website WordPress, and so on. Review of the Avengers: Numerous Figures but Distinct Characters Recently, a new TV series was released, called The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As a loyal fan of science fiction movies and S.H.I.E.L.D, how can I miss these episodes! However, it is really a pity that there are only few episodes right now, I have to be patient to wait for the next story. And I am sure that most fans would be like me to wait for next episodes. So, in order to make waiting time more interesting, I would like to introduce a movie, which also happened in S.H.I.E.L.D, and fans would like it. It is called Avengers. Unlike normal agents using high technology to solve various troubles in TV series The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, super heroes in the movie Avengers uses their own abilities to protect their homeland. It is true that the TV series looks more like a reality, but I think superpower makes a science fiction movie more fantasy and mysterious. So, there is no doubt that when it first showed on screen, it received a warm welcome in a large amount of fans. The poster of the Avengers Yu 2 For me, the movie attract me most is that many of audiences’ familiar heroes would get together...

...$771,172,112? The marvel movie Guardians of the galaxy contains all the excitement and action one superhero fan would want. The Avengers is a another Marvel production that got big numbers because of the common love for superhero comics. The Guardians of the Galaxy still experiences the same components that torment numerous superhero movies, including uninspired antagonists and a substantial dependence on deus ex machinas. The Avengers was a big hit for Marvel studios when it come out last fall. This film was greatly successful because of the fun, the amazing level of creativity flowing through everything from the character designs to the action...

The Avengers Review

...characters and the usual flurry of fight-and-flight scenes, the film is never less than amusing. Still, it's never more than amusing either. Marvel Studios has made it a point of pride to diverge from the grim severity popularized in the DC / Warner Bros Batman films. The lightness is fun but it doesn't offer much of a foundation on which to build an epic. And let's face it, there's more than a whiff of opportunism about a project that pits a defrosted World War II hero, Captain America (Chris Evans), an inventor-industrialist, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), the pagan lightning god, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a scientist with anger-management issues, Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and SHIELD agents Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) against the Norse god of mischief, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and a legion of marauding aliens. In 3-D. Meet the boss of 'The Avengers' Chris Hemsworth is 'Thor' Chatting with the 'Iron Man 2' cast Still, Whedon (who shares a screenplay credit with Zak Penn) is a very sharp operator. He knows which buttons to press and where there's room for a little diversion. The improbability of this misfit coalition becomes the movie's most rewarding asset. Imagine the bristling egos of so many power players cooped up...

Genre Awareness Report

...find out what characteristics define an action movie and whether or not they hold true for all action movies, I decided to do some research using the internet. After looking at multiple movie posters I noted the similar characteristics between them all. When confronted with the similarities I further analyzed the posters and tried to determine what the reasoning behind the similarities was. Finally, I deciphered the reason behind them and made a decision on whether or not certain characteristics are present in all action movies. Introduction Action movies have been around since movies were first created. The visual effects and the actors have changed, but the feel is the same. When describing an action movie the average person thinks of guns, cars, explosions, violence and big action-star names such as Jason Statham. These are stereotypes of the action movie genre. These same stereotypical aspects, among others, are showcased in the posters. My aim for this report is to look at different movie posters of the same genre and look for common themes and elements between them and decipher the meanings and purpose. Methodology To find examples of movie posters I began my research by using google to search for images of known action movies. The first search was for the Expendables 2 poster. When looking at the results I saw that one poster was more frequent than the others and had a movie release date. I then cross-checked that movie poster with trusted sites such as imdb.com or...

Batman V Superman: Dawn of a Disaster

...about this terrible movie. That's right, I said it. This movie is trash and there is no debate. Of course, you can enjoy this movie and like it, that's your opinion, but you can't say that this movie was 'good' in any way. Why have I decided to write about this movie? Well, I was on Instagram the other day and there were way too many comments on various posts actually DEFENDING this piece of shit. I got into a number of arguments with random people because they were just trashing on other people and the critics for disliking the movie. I cannot believe how hard headed some blind fanboys are. To the point where I knew I clearly won the argument because their next replies were always something like: "You're just a dumb fag who hates on movies go kill yourself". I'm not exaggerating. These people need to be stopped. They need to open their eyes and see that this movie was not good AT ALL. Some more examples of comments I found on Instagram were like "This movie is perfection" or "Everyone who hates this movie is stupid and wouldn't understand the dark theme because they only like light-hearted Marvel movies". What exactly was wrong with this movie? Everything. I mean the fight scenes were pretty cool, but that's about it. It was just an overall mess. The story jumped around everywhere and couldn't focus on anything. Let's start with the first thing wrong, the title. It shouldn't even be called Batman V Superman as that's not even the main conflict of the movie. It should just plainly...

Performance Critique

...Performance Critique The play I chose to see for this review was Marvel Universe Live. It was an action packed thrill ride of an experience and a great play. The entertainment company who created this act is Feld Entertainment they’ve had multiple other players like Disney on Ice, and the Barnum & Bailey Circus. This play includes a lot of Marvel identities that everyone is familiar with and some may not be like Black Widow, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Cyclops, Electro, The Falcon, Green Goblin, Hawkeye, The Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Nick Fury, Red Skull, Rhino, Spider Man, Storm, Thor, & Wolverine and also many other characters in the Marvel universe .The plot of the play is about Thor shatters the cosmic cube and the pieces scatter across the world and the bad guys get a hold of these pieces and of course the good guys have to stop them. The actors in the performance you could hear them very well in the BJCC even when we sat at the tip top of the arena. The actors had great chemistry on the stage and you can tell they’ve been acting for a very long time. They villains moved like they were big and bad and the heroes moved like well no one can mess with them. The stage which they performed on was the court of the BJCC and the stage was awesome there was a lot of props. Like I said the stage was huge so there was a lot of room for character interaction and it all made sense for the performance. The set was pretty epic with the props the special effect the lighting and everything...

...Running head: WEEK THREE INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 1 Popular Literature Paper SOC/105 October 10 2012 WEEK THREE INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 2 The following paper will describe to the reader a brief overview, followed by a little bit about the author, and then explain how this type of popular fiction fits with other literature in the same genre. Comic books of yesterday and today have introduced a lot of new and interesting characters. The character that I selected to right about is the Incredible Hulk. The Incredible Hulk was introduced to the world in a comic book back in 1962. This character, Bruce Banner, was a scientist that was working with atomic weapons when an atomic bomb went off and exposed him to an enormous amount of gamma radiation. When he was exposed to the radiation, it turned him into a savage and extremely strong animal of a human being. Normally when Mr. Banner becomes enraged the Incredible Hulk is exposed and only when the Incredible Hulk calms down does he turn back into Bruce Banner. Although the Hulk's color has varied just a bit over the time that he has existed, the majority of the time he is the favorable and most popular green color. Whenever Bruce Banner turns into the Incredible Hulk, he is then capable of immense strength, minus the brains. Strong emotions such as anger, terror and grief are also triggers for...

Technology

...oday's technology is already producing a marked shift in the way we think and behave, particularly among the young. I mustn't, however, be too censorious, because what I'm talking about is pleasure. For some, pleasure means wine, women and song; for others, more recently, sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll; and for millions today, endless hours at the computer console. But whatever your particular variety of pleasure (and energetic sport needs to be added to the list), it's long been accepted that 'pure' pleasure - that is to say, activity during which you truly "let yourself go" - was part of the diverse portfolio of normal human life. Until now, that is. Now, coinciding with the moment when technology and pharmaceutical companies are finding ever more ways to have a direct influence on the human brain, pleasure is becoming the sole be-all and end-all of many lives, especially among the young. We could be raising a hedonistic generation who live only in the thrill of the computer-generated moment, and are in distinct danger of detaching themselves from what the rest of us would consider the real world. This is a trend that worries me profoundly. For as any alcoholic or drug addict will tell you, nobody can be trapped in the moment of pleasure forever. Sooner or later, you have to come down. I'm certainly not saying all video games are addictive (as yet, there is not enough research to back that up), and I genuinely welcome the new generation of "brain-training" computer...

Disney Australia

...Company Analysis The Walt Disney Company has been in the entertainment business for more than 80 years and is well recognized around the world as one that delivers an exceptional entertainment experience. Walt Disney Company strengths can be grouped in three main categories: 1) diversified distribution channels, 2) strong brand portfolio, and 3) financial strength. Despite Walt Disney’s success, the company has some declining segments in their domestic business. In addition, Disney’s biggest challenge in creating theme parks and resorts abroad is their inability to tailor the attractions to the local market while maintaining Disney’s brand image. In the past, international theme park implementations, Disney had failed to adapt their strategies to the local market. Therefore, Disney’s weaknesses can also be also grouped in three categories: 1) declining segments, 2) difficulty adapting to other cultures, and 3) weak managerial skills in terms of international operations. Diversified Distribution Channels Disney has a strong diversified distribution channel. The company operates by four strategic business units (SBU): 1) Media Networks and Broadcasting, 2) Parks and Resorts, 3) Studio Entertainment, and 4) Disney Consumer Products (Banton, 2007, p.31). The Media Network segment comprises of all broadcast television network, television production and distribution operations, television stations, cable networks, broadcast radio, publishing and digital operations (“Fiscal Year...

...Does the "New Economy" Measure up to the Great Inventions of the Past? Robert J. Gordon Stanley G. Harris Professor in the Social Sciences, Northwestern University Research Associate, National Bureau of Economic Research April 28, 2000 draft of a paper for the Journal of Economic Perspectives _____________________ This research is supported by the National Science Foundation. I have benefitted from discussions on these topics with many people, especially Erik Brynjolfsson, Joel Mokyr, Jack Triplett, and the late Zvi Griliches. "The invention of the semiconductor transistor set in motion a technological revolution that is arguably even more impressive and pervasive than that of the Great Industrial Revolution of the last century." -- Flamm (1997, p. 1) "The chip has transformed us at least as pervasively as the internal-combustion engine or electric motor" -- Fortune magazine, June 8, 1998, pp. 86-87. The miracle of U. S. economic performance in the late 1990s was a source of pride at home, of envy abroad, and of puzzlement among economists and policymakers. 1 The Federal Reserve presided over rates of output growth believed only a few years earlier to be unachievable even for a few quarters, much less over the four glowing years 1996-99. As the unemployment rate inched ever lower, the Fed reacted with benign neglect, so that early in the year 2000 short-term interest rates were no higher than they had been five years earlier and long-term interest rates were considerably...
