Bullying Behavior In Human Development

Our role as school counselor and human service providers is a contribution to the academic success of all our students in academic, social development and careers. As school counselors we have a unique role because of the training and viewpoint that puts them in a position to better the lives of students while providing an education. Bullying has been one of the prevalent forms of school violence, counselors should be aware of their responsibility as protectors of the schools. They need to provide programs and interventions for the adolescents who are experiencing such bullying whether it at school or in a social environment. A useful way to prevent or lessen bullying is to have school administrator’s assurance and commitment to reduce the problem of bullying in our school and environment. Providing programs of intervention are know to help reduce bullying in schools. Bullying can lead to many physical injury, social problems and emotional problems also can lead to death. Children and adolescents who are bullied are at risk of having mental problems, such as depression, anxiety, suicidal thought and problems adjusting to school. Adolescents and children who are victims of this type of crime are at risk for substance abuse, academic problems, and violence to other later on in life.
