The glass-collecting vessel is filled with water and covered with a glass plate or plastic wrap, which is to prevent air bubbles from getting into the vessel. The vessel is then flipped and placed into the pan of water where the glass plate or plastic wrap is removed.

So therefore, the pressure below the wing will be higher than the air pressure above the wing. Because of this difference in pressure, lift is created, and pushes the wings upward.
