John Rey O. de los Santos CO1E Student Steve Jobs, the late CEO of Apple in his speech at Stanford really inspired me after viewing the video. He talked about many things in his life, his experiences, hard work, dreams, and even his cancer. The first thing that inspired me was his hard work and perseverance. He dedicated his life in his work and even if he was dropped out he didn't give up but he was eager to stand back and fulfill his dream because in hard work comes with success. If all of us Filipinos are into this, I think this will be a great nation to live and our country will gain more and our economy will boost. The Second thing that inspired me was his phrase: "If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it." His job satisfaction is neither high nor low. We can change his outlook and work ethic by motivation and our actions. His satisfaction level may be due to things that we can change here he may be very valuable in helping us mold the company in to a new and more encouraging and employee driven place. His efforts are needed to meet our company standards and we need to find out if he is willing to do the things we need to continue to work with our company. These characteristics can affect the company in lots of ways. Having an employee who in nonchalant or doesn’t care either way can make for some bad representation and decision making. I suggest doing some training with him and figuring out what is working and not with this employee. I would manage Bret by giving detailed directions, being professional and cordial without being overfriendly. I would try to see if Bret could be a manager or be promoted in the current job and see if his happiness could be found in our company. One of those is their costumes. Some of their costumes look like rushed when chosen. Some are like shoe covers, and doesn’t match their outfits. Amgen was carrying out illegal activities because they were not reporting the issues they were having with their drugs. He was “doing the right thing” yet was terminated after doing so. ...Elephant In “Shooting an Elephant,” Orwell finds himself in a difficult situation involving an elephant. The elephant’s life depends all on one decision Orwell must make, to shoot the elephant or let him be. I agree with Orwell’s final decision to shoot the elephant for a few reasons. One reason being of the situation he was placed in from the beginning, being a figure of authority in an area of people that mostly hate you and torment you on a daily bases. He had to prove himself in front of the natives. Shooting an elephants is something that he did not want to do but was pressured by the people to do so. He says “ Here I was the white man with this gun, standing in front of the unarmed crowd-seemingly the leading actor of the piece; but in reality I was only an absurd puppet pushed to and fro by the will of those yellow faces behind.” He had no choice but to shoot the elephant with everyone there watching and staring at him.
