“The Songcatcher” by Sharyn McCrumb is not just a historical book but also a modern. It mixes modern times with the late 1700’s - early 1800’s. McCrumb is a very unique author not many authors can write with changing from past to present. I love how she can write from past to present because it is something I am familiar with and truly like. Malcolm was kidnapped at the tender age of 10 for years he lived, worked, and sleep at sea with the other sailors until 1759 when he went to Morristown, New Jersey. As the years went by I would guess that her memory of him began to fade soon they were probably just mere wishes. I am still not really sure how John Walker ties into the story other than he is part of the McCourry
