Here is a chance to experiment with different masses of a paper plane to observe how it affects it’s time of flight. Research Question: How does the mass (g) of a paper plane affect the time (seconds) of its flight? Hypothesis: It is expected that, the more mass on the paper plane’s wings, the time of flight will decrease. This is because more mass; the faster gravity will pull it down. *Independent variable: Number of paperclips (amount of mass in grams) Dependent variable: The time of flight –measured in seconds. X Controlled variables: Throw it with the same force in each throw, and same angle of the throw. Materials: Stop watch 3 pieces of A4 paper to make paper planes 1 balance 12 paperclips Method: Make 3 ordinary paper planes from A4 sheet of paper Find someone who is willing to throw the paper plane for all the trials in the experiment. In order for any small community to be successful; there must be jobs and people willing to work. This is just a harsh reality of life. In Ottumwa, Iowa, there are plenty of people with work and plenty of people willing to work. There is only one problem that is restricting these motivated people from work. That is that there is very little public transportation. Some people need this in order to get from one place to another, especially if it is to their work. It is understood that we are living in an age that most people have vehicles; the key word there is "most." Not everyone has a vehicle that they are blessed with. In a mostly middle class and poor community that is notably true. From personal experience, living in Ottumwa for twelve years, I have seen that this is accurate. How does a community expect to strive in having a strong core if they cannot provide the simple use of public transportation? In order to address this problem, a statement of the problem is defined with reference to the presenting issues. Secondly, the aims and objectives of this study is stated in an attempt to resolve the presenting issues. Thirdly, key definition of terms is addressed with reference to the school bus problem. Fourthly, a critical review of the literature whilst putting into perspective the methodologies adopted in research. Furthermore, findings from different approaches using computer programs to address the school bus problem are highlighted.
