When Dr. Neu’s wife said, “We didn’t know,” about the Holocaust, it could have meant very many things. Firstly, the Nazi’s hid the Holocaust very well from the public and Hitler made it very clear that Jewish people were no good. After this idea was constantly repeated, the Nazi’s accepted it and the hate towards Jewish people was normalized. The Nazi’s created propaganda and a hatred towards Jewish people which made the public feel that the Nazi’s were doing the right thing during the Holocaust. The Nazi’s had fully succeeded in brainwashing everyone. Another reason would be the guilt in Dr. Neu’s wife and other Nazi’s minds.
