In the novel "War and peace" of L.N. Tolstaya uses reception of an antithesis, opposing the real life — false, true vital values — false, internal beauty — external. An embodiment of external beauty and internal emptiness is in the novel Elaine Bezoukhova, an embodiment of internal beauty, life, love — Natasha Rostova.

Natasha — the favourite heroine of Tolstoy. It submits the reader the sincerity, a spontaneity, cheerfulness, poetry, richness of an inner world. "The poetic, full of life, the charming girl" her Andrey Bolkonsky calls. For the first time we meet Natasha in the house Growth, she appears at us the thirteen-year-old girl, absolutely young, touching, direct. "Black-eyed, with a big mouth, the ugly, but living girl, with the children's open coat hanger … with the black curls which got off back, the thin bared hands and small legs in lacy pantalonchik and open shoes, was at that lovely age, when the girl not the child, but the child not the girl yet any more". We see how Natasha matures, goes to the first ball, endures the first love. This heroine is very direct, close to the nature. She admires beauty of a moonlight night in Otradnoye, is very organic in a hunting scene.

Natasha is very musical, romantic. She perfectly sings, is thin feels music, Denisov admires her singing. And dancing of Natasha in which all reveals her Russian soul? This dancing delights both the uncle, and Nikolay, and the aunt Anisyyu who suddenly understand that this young girl "was able to understand everything that was both in Anisye, and in the father Anisye, both in the aunt, and in mother, and in any Russian person". Natasha is close to the people. During departure from Moscow she asks parents to give supplies to wounded soldiers. "People gathered about Natasha and until then couldn't believe that strange order which she transmitted until the count on behalf of the wife confirmed orders giving out all supplies under wounded, and to take down chests to storerooms". The main quality of this heroine — her love to people, emotionality, humanity. From all heroines of the novel it more all are allocated with "ability to feel shades of intonations, views and expressions of persons". The moral reflection, deep thoughts about meaning of life isn't peculiar to Natasha. "It doesn't award to be clever" — Pierre notices. However Natasha is allocated with "mind of heart". It it is thin feels people, understands them. So, she intuitively feels Boris Trubetskoy, Berg's false, mean nature. To the contrary, to it Pierre Bezoukhov is from the very beginning nice. In the novel Natasha Rostova as if personifies the nature and love. Aspiration to love, life feelings — this main thing in its nature. From here all its mistakes, escape with Anatole Kuragin. However this love isn't selfish, it extends on all relatives to it people. So, at a difficult moment Natasha becomes a support for mother. "Natasha's love, persistent, patient, not as an explanation, not as a consolation, and as an appeal to life, any second as though embraced the countess from all directions". In the final we see Natasha Pierre's wife, mother of big family. It lost the former charm. "Everything, knowing Natasha till a marriage, were surprised to the change which happened in it, as to something unusual. One mother was surprised to surprise of the people who weren't understanding Natasha and repeated that she always knew that Natasha will be the model of a wife and mother …". However nature of the heroine didn't change, the love still makes for it meaning of life. Thus, L.N. Tolstoy with big sympathy draws this heroine. In image of Natasha Rostova the writer expresses the ideal of the woman as the wife and mother. And this image steadily attracts readers.
