She becomes extremely obsessed in following the case, and after hearing a man named James Wade confessing that he had buried the girl, she becomes obsessed with the thought of her finding the missing body. The narrator is telling the story in third person, whose view on the story is not shown to us, which makes us get our own opinion about the main character. It is an omniscient narrator, which is seen by the fact that the narrator does not only know about the main characters actions, but also about her thoughts and emotions. We learn that the narrator knows about her thoughts and emotions on page 1 line 11: “She didn’t tell anyone what she was doing – she wasn’t stupid. The first time was the hardest because she felt foolish.” We get an impression of how she felt and also about what she is afraid others might think about her.
