Week 2 Professional Development Plan
Below Learning Team A discussed the topics that felt comfortable with following this week’s topic: Theories of Leadership. The following thoughts were shared with the group in the weekly team group feed.

Brandon King: This week we mainly focused on leadership and our interpretations on effective leaders. By now many of us have worked under many who have idealistically believed that they are a natural born leader. By exploring this week’s topic I have found a better explanation of how they are various types of leadership and that each are expressed differently. Leadership is something I am constantly working on because I feel as if I am lacking the confidence to lead a group even though I have on numerous occasions. One of my professional goals is to become an effective leader and to take in the moment. I tend to have a habit of overthinking tasks which makes me weary of stepping up to the plate.

John Hopper:

This week’s topic of leadership is one that I feel very comfortable with. I believe that all of us have encountered great leaders in our lives. If we reflect back it is easy to see the influence they've had on us. When we think about those people and what made us feel that way about them we will encounter many common attributes. Perhaps it was their charisma or how clearly they spoke. We call these types of things leadership traits. We have many impressions of what makes someone a good leader, but the truth is that every good leader will have a collection of some of the great traits that leaders have if not all of them. I feel like a good leader is someone that you want to follow, someone that you want to support simply because of who they are.

...best features of an HRIS System is how easily it can be customized. It can be expanded by adding additional modules as the company grows because all modules do not have to be activated during the initial setup process (Tatum, 2011). Ten critical success factors commonly agreed upon between several authors are as follows: 1. Top management support 2. Provision of adequate and timely resources 3. Ongoing communication 4. Conductive organizational culture 5. User involvement 6. Project champions 7. Organizational structure 8. Change management methodology 9. Project control and monitoring 10. Cross integration between business systems These critical success factors must be considered during the planning, analysis and design of an HRIS System (Kavanagh & Thite, 2009, p.167-168). Three important factors that Benefast Partners should have focused on were provisioning of adequate and timely resources which includes time, money, technology and people. It is very important to ensure that these elements are adequate and available prior to proceeding. This can be accomplished by developing a comprehensive business plan (Kavanagh & Thite, 2009, p.167). The second factor they should have considered was user involvement. In this...

Integrative Case Study

...The stakeholders have been identified as the firm’s employees, customers, shareholders, and the financial regulators. The shared common concerns of this group are the financial health of XYZ global financial services firm balance sheet, and the plans to meet regulatory obligations and compliance, and the lessons learned from the national investment crisis that will be incorporated into a risk management plan. In addition, it will discuss the recommendation of three areas that as the new CEO of XYZ global financial services firm needs to focus and apply to influence the values of the firm and prevent a future crisis by creating a culture of candor, trust, and learning. Introduction Values are beliefs that people have about what is important or worthwhile to them. Values influence behavior because people seek more of what they value. As U.S. Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart concluded, “There is a difference between what you have a right to do, and what is right to do.” (JWMI 505, Wk 8, Lecture 1). Values therefore can be seen as the guideposts for behavior. As opposed to rules, which are always transmitted from the top down, values should be developed in a more participative way. (JWMI 505, Wk 8, Lecture 1). An individual’s values are in large part, derived from the social environment in which he or she lives. For example, in Western democracies, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are some of the things we value. Sharing...

Computerized Scholarship Profiling System Document

...INTRODUCTION PROJECT CONTEXT Everyone in the business world is looking for a way to increase the efficiency of their business. Today, most of the schools are using manual processing of their transaction that causes many problems. In using manual system, they will need a lot of papers, spend more time and effort in writing the data on the log book. To minimize these problems, scholarship profiling system to be developed will improve the processing of papers for the scholar students and lessen the workload of the personnel. The usage of existing manual system is indeed a time consuming way of filing of applicant into a logbook and record by the personnel. In that way, it takes a long time and thread for the employee as well as the students before they can fully accomplish it. Developing a system will make a better result and give reliable source for the fastest and easiest way of processing. Automating the ISU-R scholarship profiling system is a new way of modernizing the present manual system used by the school for managing and processing of paperwork. The system that is responsible for letting the user view the list for scholars both old, new and renewal. It will also increase the security of the properties within the company.
