Worldview Assignment #1
I was born in Japan and raised there for 18 years until I came to Central Cristian College in 2011. Japan is a country that has only one race; therefore, I seldom had a chance to face to racism. According to Oxford Dictionaries, racism means, “The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” Ever since I came to the U.S., I have always been wondering why people like to discriminate against others especially among different races. As I grew up, I have learned naturally that racism is not justified towards anyone because we are all created equal. The question I would like to pose for this research project is, “What does the Bible say about racism?”
First, the Bible says, “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (NLT Study Bible, Gen. 1:27). In the beginning of the Old Testament, Genesis says clearly that God created us in his own image. God created only male and female, but He did not create us impartially. When He created us, there was no black or white, Hispanic or Asian. Therefore, I think is not God’s will for us to discriminate against each other by the differences of our colors, cultures or where we are from.
Secondly, in the Bible, God does not make distinctions based on physical or social attribution. When the prophet Samuel was sent by God to anoint the next king of Israel, Samuel was initially convinced that someone with an impressive, physical stature would be the Lord’s choice. Seeing about Samuel’s pick, God set him straight and told the prophet “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance,

Worldview Writing Assignment Part 1

...01-22-2015 Worldview Writing Assignment Part 1 A worldview can be simply be defined as the way we see the world around us. A worldview is acquired through our experiences and the environment we are a part of. A worldview is like a filter that makes us see the world around us in a specific and distinct light. Whether we are aware of it or not, we all have our own way of thinking and evaluate things; and that’s what a worldview is about. (94 words ) I don’t really know if I have a specific worldview. But if I had to pick a worldview, from my childhood and the environment I grew up in, I would say my worldview is pretty “Christian” oriented. I think I have a Christian worldview because the majority of values that I hold close to my heart are Christian ones. As a result, my comportment reflects my worldview because of the way I perceive the world in my own lenses. I think it would be safe for me to say that most of the time, my internal beliefs or worldview materialized itself by my actions in everyday life. Therefore, my Christian oriented worldview serves as a filter that dictates how I approach different events in my life. (126 words ) Understanding a worldview is important because it enable us to evaluate ourselves to make sure that our beliefs or worldview is consistent with our actions. Life is full of trials so having a good worldview is a good tool to help us strive and remain constant to stay strong in whatever we believe in. Holding a worldview allow us to...

...application of the Biblical/Christian Worldview. This course will include an introduction and application of critical thinking skills, as well as a study of religious and philosophical worldviews, the nature of tolerance and basic apologetic methodology. RATIONALE APOL 104 is designed to deepen and broaden the student’s understanding of the core fundamentals of the Biblical/Christian Worldview, and to equip the student to present that view in the face of competing worldviews. The goal is to enable students to think more clearly and critically about Christianity and truth. It is also the goal to equip Christians to become more effective witnesses and participate more constructively in the larger socio-cultural debate. In order to accomplish this goal, we must (1) understand the essentials of Christian truth, (2) understand the historical opponents to Christianity and truth, and (3) present a biblical, logical, and reasonable defense of Christianity. Through studying worldviews, students can better understand the nature of humanity and individual conduct so that they are prepared to address relevant questions in a culture of relativism. As the apostle Paul states, “Know how you should respond to each person who asks us about such things” Col. 4:6 (NASB). By understanding worldviews, one acquires a powerful form of wisdom that characterized the sons of Issachar, “men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do.” 1 Chron.12:32 (NASB). ...Biblical Worldview Essay Instructions Rationale for the Biblical Worldview Essay Every person has a worldview whether he realizes it or not. What is a worldview? James W. Sire defines a worldview as: [A] commitment, a fundamental orientation of the heart, that can be expressed as a story or in a set of presuppositions (assumptions which may be true, partially true or entirely false) that we hold (consciously or subconsciously, consistently or inconsistently) about the basic constitution of reality, and that provides the foundation on which we live and move and have our being. Stated more succinctly, "…[A] worldview is simply the total set of beliefs that a person has about the biggest questions in life." F. Leroy Forlines describes such questions as the "inescapable questions of life." Life's inescapable questions include the following: "Is there a God? If so, what is He like? How can I know Him? Who am I? Where am I? How can I tell right from wrong? Is there life after death? What should I and what can I do about guilt? How can I deal with my inner pain?" Life's biggest, inescapable questions relate to whether there is a God, human origins, identity, purpose, and the hereafter, just to mention a few. Satisfying answers to the "inescapable questions of life" are provided by the Holy Scriptures. The Holy Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, form the starting point and foundation for the biblical worldview. More specifically related to our purposes...

World View Assignment

...World View Assignment-Apol 104 Part I After the reading assignments this week I believe a worldview is a set of basic principals about live. It’s what we use to help us understand life You can think if of it like a “lens” though which we see life. “Someone with a biblical worldview believes his primary reason for existence is to love and serve God.” Part II 1. When we think about origin through the Christian worldview, the first “tool” we should think about is. The bible is the first “stepping stone” for the Christian worldview; it’s what we use to base our beliefs on, and how we know that God is the almighty creator. Genesis 1:24 and Genesis 2:7 are good supporting scripture references that talk about how God is the creator, thus the origin of Christian worldview is formed. 2. The bible says that God created man and women in his image and that we are a “unique creation.” Knowing that God only created US in him image and nothing else helps us answer the questions of identity. Genesis 1:27 and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 are scripture references that further reiterate that man was formed in God’s image and we should be respectful of ourselves because “our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” 3. In my opinion the purpose of life as far as biblical worldview is concerned is so that man will come to know and accept Jesus Chris as their Lord and Savior. 2 Corinthians 5:15 let’s us know that Jesus died for us, and paid for our sins. He did this so that we may...
