Gilgamesh does encounter many obstacles and inferences along his quest for immortality. He was warned by his mother of the dangers that he may face when attempting to kill Humbaba. Even the people of Uruk warned him of such danger; but he was on a mission to complete such task. As he and Enkidu began their quest to the wilderness where Humbaba can be found, there were many challenges that Gilgamesh faced. One of the first challenges was the nightmares each night that he would have. He would dream of encountering Humbaba. He was able to overcome the nightmares by Enkidu’s encouragement.
