• The video targets three foods; Cantaloupes, Peanut butter (peanuts) and Spinach.
• The focus of this new approach is to prevent outbreaks instead of treat them after people have gotten sick. In the video and article, they talk about implementing new rules to test foods before they actually cause an outbreak, requiring manufacturers to create plans to clean equipment and keep animals out of crops. They also mentioned implementing new laws and regulations to prevent food contamination along with approval from the government that will apply to foreign and domestic providers.

1. Test food as they leave the fields.
2. Process peanuts at high temperatures to prevent salmonella
3. Design proper storage to keep food covered, so birds cannot contaminate the product.

• The FDA will put more emphasis on foods that have a higher risk of causing food borne illnesses. For example, health agencies are more concerned about fresh tomatoes than cooked or canned beans. This means, the FDA will implement stricter standards for raw foods.
• The responsible of these new rules is the FDA and the act it is called the Food Safety Modernization Act.
• I think it is a very good idea to implement rules to make sure food is safe before and during production. The execution of these rules will reduce the cost caused for halting production and recalling products when there is a potential safety concern. I also think these regulations will help the companies to prevent lawsuits. However, implementing these rules can also increase the cost and time of food production. The FDA will need to train more employees to inspect the plants to make sure the new safety rules are being
