''Daddy Dozens'' by Jamila Woods is about a father who's a doctor and doesn't spend time with his family because he's always working. "Step Father" by Emanuel Xavier is about a father and son who don't have a good relationship. Their relationship has a lot of pain and sadness. The father was mentally and physically abusive towards his son. The son is gay and wants his father to love and accept him for who he is. The father gets old and starts forgetting his memory. The son in the end forgives for his father for everything him put him through and provides love and care for his father. "Daddy Dozen" starts in a funny way of the daughter making fun the father's forehead. She says "My Daddy's forehead is so big, we don't need a dining room table. My Daddy's forehead so big, his hat size is equator". It shows that father and his daughter have a loving relationship by making fun of his forehead. "Step Father" has a very sad tone, the speaker implies a lot pain throughout the poem. While in "Step Father" it starts off with the speaker saying "He forgets that he used to call me mariconcito that I harbored years of hatred toward him while hoping to find my real father''.
